'HijackThis' Log / Result Checker
Use this tool for your 'HijackThis' log. 'HijackThis' result logs can be confusing as to what you should / should not remove. This site ( which is connected to the HijackThis site ) will allow you to copy and paste your results. The program will then flag up and give explanations for anything it finds that it thinks shouldn't be there.

(WARNING! When using HijackThis, be absolutely sure on what you are deleting, even when using this tool )

  SpyWare Blaster
( WARNING! ONLY USE THE 'WWW.JAVACOOLSOFTWARE.COM' LINK POSTED HERE. ITS THE ONLY GENUINE VERSION )

This software blocks 'spyware' being downloaded in the first place.

'Free' version needs manual updates

'Paid For' version, updates automatically

Once installed it doesnt require internet access and requires practically nothing from your CPU. Had this piece of software for years and its never given me any problems whatsoever. Updates are scant, but they do update. Its just another tool ( and its free) against the growing tide of Spyware.

Trend Micro Free Virus & Spyware checker
A very thorough and comprehensive 'free' online Virus & Spyware/Malware checker.

If it finds anything at the end of testing, it will allow you to remove all offending items. To be used in addition with your regular Anti-Virus. This Checker is known for finding things that your own Anti-Virus may have missed.

The only downside is that sometimes it may throw up 'False Positives', so a cursory glance over flagged items before removing anything.

Microsoft AntiSpywre (Beta)
Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) is a security technology that helps protect Windows users from spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Known spyware on your PC can be detected and removed. This helps reduce negative effects caused by spyware, including slow PC performance, annoying pop-up ads, unwanted changes to Internet settings, and unauthorized use of your private information. Continuous protection improves Internet browsing safety by guarding more than 50 ways spyware can enter your PC. Participants in the worldwide SpyNet™ community play a key role in determining which suspicious programs are classified as spyware. Microsoft researchers quickly develop methods to counteract these threats, and updates are automatically downloaded to your PC so you stay up to date.

ZoneAlarm Personal
ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet. Version 6.1.737 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Note:ZoneAlarm is free for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions).
