Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant! Gotta hand it to those German townspeople. But I'm sure there were some good people there, too!

Would be a shame if anyone showed up to this fascist summer camp and doxxed everyone that attended.

“Hitler Youth, Without the Hitler”

On August 20, 2021, a network of paleoconservative and White nationalist youth activists will gather at F.D. Roosevelt State Park outside of Atlanta, Georgia for a weekend camping retreat called 76Fest. Arielle Early, an 18-year-old White nationalist social media influencer billed as a “special guest” at 76Fest, asked listeners on a July 25 episode of her podcast, “How do we win the culture war?” The task, she explained, is to reach “the people who need help identifying what they believe in.”

By golly, I think this would be a really patriotic thing to do: GIVE them tats on their foreheads! Why should the Poor, I mean Pool, dammit, I mean ProuD BoyS have to pay some (probably non-aryan) yob to enoble their brows with Hakenkreutzen? Who does not have a pocket knife and a bottle of ink for such a glorious cause?

Remember that movie Inglorius Basterds? Well, I think I need say no more.

Just read one of the Original Captain America stories from 1941 where the German American Bund..the main US Nazi organization..is terrorzing German Americans who refuse to join .They make the mistake of beating up the father of one of Bucky's friends and Cap and Bucky clean out "Camp Nordland". A lot of fun.

In the real world, Nazi supporters came to the Timely offices to try to threaten and intimidate the writers and artists. It's been said that Jack Kirby, who eventually became the inspiration for The Thing, had to be restrained from going down to the lobby and getting into a fight with them. He was later drafted and fought actual Nazis.

He was in the Third Army under Patton.
He could, by being the creator of Captian America, have gotten a soft job in Army PR, but he fought to get put into a combat unit. I wonder if the screen writers of "Captain America:First Avenger" knew this and sort of wrote it into the film .

And the attacking Biden for letting the Afghan who helped us down (and I think Biden is very culpable for the clusterf--- the evacuation of Afghanistan has become) while fearmongering about letting those same Afghans Allies into the US is a new high..or low..n hypocrisy.
No one is saying we should not screen them carefully....I fully expect a few Al qaida types will try to slip in....but it's not an issue of screening, it wanting to keep them out because they have the wrong skin color and the wrong religion.

No fan of the Latter Day Saints church on many issues but I have to approve of what the Governor of Utah just did:
In Utah, Republican Gov. Spencer Cox penned an open letter to Biden Tuesday, offering to accept Afghan refugees, citing the history of the state, which was founded by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Our state was settled by refugees fleeing religious persecution 170 years ago,” he wrote. “Their descendants have a deep understanding of the danger and pain caused by forced migration and an appreciation for the wonderful contributions of refugees in our communities.”

I'm sure they're hoping for new recruits, but that's better than the so-called "Christians" in this country that suddenly act very un-Christ like when people need help. The Mormons seem to have a better track record than many for practicing what they preach.

Dutton has a track record of racism and bigotry, from the days when he was a redneck young policeman in a state where the government was corrupt and most of the cops were on the take.

Just FYI, The Rabbit Proof Fence is in a different state a thousand miles away (Western Australia), and it was to keep our feral rabbits under under control (it didn't). It was never anything to do with controlling native populations. There were other more insidious methods used until only a few decades ago.

No, Dutton is a bit of a truncheon-loving guy. His solutions to perceived "problems" involves metaphorically or literally hitting people. He's a thug.

At least it would get them into the USA. They could always move elsewhere later if the proselytizing becomes too much for them. Or, they could take up a personal challenge to convert as many as they can to Allah. And parts of Utah are just about as rugged and desolate as many parts of Afghanistan. Should feel just like home.

Also, individual Mormons are very often as pleasant and kind as could be.
Scary as a group most of the time though.

Having several Mormons on both my husband's side and mine, I can say that's very true. But believe me, it is a cult.

Mary Trump's latest interview covering several topic including why so many Trump supporters can't admit they were duped (starting at 8:24), why Donnie may run again and why she's changed her mind on that, etc. It's very interesting. I know several people here will agree with her when she says it's time for the Dems to recognize that playing by the rules doesn't work with the now Fascist GOP.

After close review, Portland Mayor Wheeler admits that "do nothing and let fascists commit broad daylight gang assault" was probably not the right strategy.

Quote:

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler indicated Wednesday he believed the city’s police force had bungled the response to a violent political protest on Aug. 22 during which far-right and counterdemonstrators brawled in downtown and Northeast Portland without law enforcement intervention.

That police response has been criticized by both activists and elected officials as recklessly hands-off, endangering both protesters and passersby. But the mayor had deemed the approach a success, noting the “community at large was not harmed” and “property damage was minimal.”

During a city council meeting Wednesday, Wheeler, who oversees the police bureau, said he no longer believed the tactic was the correct one.

“It is clear based on the public outcry, on the media outcry, on the national front, that that strategy was not the right strategy. I think we can all acknowledge that,” he said. “I take full responsibility for it.”

I've never had a couple of Christian youths stop by my house on their bikes and ask if I needed help moving in. The mormon kids said if I never needed anything to just ask.

The Mormoms I've encountered, whatever their motives may be, have been very kind and great neighbors, and I never saw their veil slip, if there is one.

I've never had one preach to me either.

Gee, Wheeler...it wasn't the right response for the police to do jack all? Whoddathunk?

You're right, Turkey, that it's the same people over and over again. I say, anyone who is committing any violence or breaking the law needs to have the book thrown at them.

The way things are going, it's either the cops finally getting off their asses to make some arrests of fascists or mutual gunfire between them and the antifascists.

Proud Boy Tiny Toese was shot as part of a similar fascist mob in Olympia recently. One way or the other people are going to respond to this lawlessness by out of town agitators.

They don't normally preach unless they're literally on a mission. You can spot the missionaries from a mile away. Usually, but not always, two guys about 18, wearing dark suits with white shirts on bicycles. Girls do missions, too, but not nearly as often as the boys. They usually go for the year after graduating high school and can be sent anywhere in the world. My eldest BIL did his in S. Dakota while my step-SIL did hers in Russia.

My cousin got sent home from his mission in disgrace because he was going out with a girl on the down low which is against the rules. I was so proud of him! :D When my husband's bio father asked him if he was going to go on mission, he said "Yes...Mission Beach, San Diego!"

The Great Zaganza 8th September 2021 10:31 PM

Wait.
So according to Wheeler, it was EXACTLY the right thing to do, but they won't do it anymore because it makes him look bad. Going forward, he will do something worse as long as it doesn't cost him votes.

Maybe not but one of the tenets of their religion is that young people need to serve 2 years in their missionary service. And in doing that they often can be seen, 2 young men in suits and ties knocking on doors to preach.

Missions aren't compulsory, but they are very much encouraged and it's understood that 'good' Mormons go on one...especially boys.

Special Report: Terrorized U.S. election workers get little help from law enforcement

The Reuters investigation revealed a breakdown in coordination and accountability among various levels of law enforcement. Some election officials fumed that police investigators or federal agents didn’t appear to take the threats seriously and that it was unclear which agency, if any, was investigating. Some said they never heard from investigators again after reporting threats of violence. When pressed about the status of some cases, several police officials said they had no involvement and pointed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Federal officials, by contrast, bemoaned a lack of information-sharing by local authorities.

Through public records and interviews, Reuters documented 102 threats of death or violence received by more than 40 election officials, workers and their relatives in eight of the most contested battleground states in the 2020 presidential contest. Each was explicit enough to put a reasonable person in fear of bodily harm or death, the typical legal threshold for prosecution.

Almost all of the 102 threats of violence appeared to be inspired by Trump’s debunked claims that the election was rigged against him. The messages often included highly personal, sometimes sexualized threats of violence or death, not only to the officials themselves but also to their family members and their children.

What the "stop the steal" debacle showed, even in its failure, is how much of our electoral system relies on a fairly small number of low profile office holders doing their duty faithfully.

Driving out responsible people and replacing them with fascists and their enablers is a tactic that could pay huge returns for future races that hinge on disputes in swing states.

This just goes to show how sick some of these "stop the steal" idiots are. When they lay down with Trump, they got up with more than fleas. But your concern about the integrity of poll watchers is well founded. Some of the laws states are passing concerning them is frightening.
