Republicans must state loudly and clearly that WE are going to provide much better Healthcare at a much lower cost. Get the word out! Will always protect pre-existing conditions!!!

So Trump’s idea is not that Republicans must produce a plan to reduce costs. It is Republicans must state loudly that they are going to produce a plan.

Yep. We elected the loud-mouthed know-it-all who sits at the end of the bar. He brags about knowing the solution to every national and international problem.

Republicans had a plan for a health insurance "system." It was a 4000 dollar tax deduction. They almost got to voting on it.

Again this is just one of those deep, core disconnects between rural and urban mentalities.

In an urban area the big injustice is that the hospital is like... right there but you can't afford to go to it.

In rural areas it doesn't matter how much it goes to go to the hospital, you'll be dead before you get there. Nobody cares how much it costs to go to a hospital that's 100 miles away.

FFIW, I've heard an account from a person who deals with such that there's a bit of a deep divide in favorability between Obamacare and the ACA in the part of rural America where they work. ACA, good! Obamacare, horrible!

And yes, it's worth repeating that the ACA and Obamacare are the same thing.

Depends what, exactly, you're asking with this. At base, though, I think that it's best to poke 3 things that are important for the essence of the opposition.

1) Democrat bad. (standard Republican political propaganda)
2) Government and helping hard working Americans who are less well off bad. (Libertarian influence on Republican politics because of pressures by the very rich)
3) Who did something matters much more than what's being done (a position that I've seen self-identified conservatives state directly and which seems to have long been very important in Republican strategy)

Just to be clear - the individual mandate was supported by Republican before the ACA as an extension of "personal responsibility." The political "objection" to the individual mandate was never about the individual mandate, just like all the rest of the objections they've raised. The ACA was very imperfect from the start, regardless, of course, which gives a lot of room for reasonable objections, even if the reasons for making them are fundamentally dishonest.

It's an issue, first and foremost, because of nature of the mythology that they create, rely on, and reinforce to convince people to vote against their interests for them. They've spent a lot of effort to make Obamacare a boogeyman issue (in rather similar nature and fashion to abortion). It's not especially easy to change course from that.

I fully expect both Clintons, Biden, and most especially Obama; as well as a large number of journalists to be locked up in 2021 after the new SCROTUS declares Trump President for Life. Along with the three remaining liberal justices and Crazy Nancy.

Err - I disagree. At best, that's just one of the many things slung around in hopes that they stick.

Rather, I think that it's probably much more true to say, first and foremost, social security and health care are very popular programs, very much including among Republicans, and that should likely never be forgotten in discussions on the topic.

What's going on then? The strongest background influence that should be acknowledged first is that there have long been a number of very rich people who are actively seeking to pay as little in taxes as they think they can get away with, to the point of actively working to change the rules in their favor via not entirely ethical means and to prevent others from changing the rules so the rules don't favor them as much. That means both increasing their influence by doing things like effectively buying or otherwise actively seeking to influence politicians directly (or trying to install their own politicians) AND decreasing the influence of people who even could potentially oppose them. With that said, it's worth remembering that Social Security and broader government support for health care help to empower the masses, using, to some extent, the money that those people made and had to pay as taxes. Given the nature of the Republican party, it's been far more susceptible to the influence of those people since long before the Great Depression. Other factors may be somewhat worthy of note, but I think that that is the central concept that should be remembered there.

Taking a look at what was said there, though, I feel like poking at something in addition to that - "so they can add liberal justices" has another implication that highlights the reality. Stress the can.

Regarding President Trump's whining about the #FakeNews not reporting about his Nobel nomination.....

I think they should make a point of it, but in their reporting they should be clear that:
  • Pretty much anyone in any kind of position of prominence can nominate someone for a Nobel Prize
  • Literally hundreds of people are nominated every year
  • President Trump's nomination came from a far-right politician who was also responsible for one of his other nominations

In other words, President Trump is pathetic to get so excited over such a minor "honour".

Just have each news outlet refer to the Nobel Prize website and say Donald Trump was allegedly one of 318 nominated candidates for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.

"2020 Nobel Peace Prize nominations
There are 318 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020, of which 211 are individuals and 107 are organizations.

318 is the fourth highest number of candidates ever. The current record of 376 candidates was reached in 2016.
