Remember that movie Inglorius Basterds? Well, I think I need say no more. |
Just read one of the Original Captain America stories from 1941 where the German American Bund..the main US Nazi organization..is terrorzing German Americans who refuse to join .They make the mistake of beating up the father of one of Bucky's friends and Cap and Bucky clean out "Camp Nordland". A lot of fun.

In the real world, Nazi supporters came to the Timely offices to try to threaten and intimidate the writers and artists. It's been said that Jack Kirby, who eventually became the inspiration for The Thing, had to be restrained from going down to the lobby and getting into a fight with them. He was later drafted and fought actual Nazis. |

He was in the Third Army under Patton. He could, by being the creator of Captian America, have gotten a soft job in Army PR, but he fought to get put into a combat unit. I wonder if the screen writers of "Captain America:First Avenger" knew this and sort of wrote it into the film . |
And over at DC Superman ,post war, beat up on the KKK...
https://www.thevintagenews.com/2018/...perman-vs-kkk/ I understand DC has approved a couple of indies doing an animated version of that storyline. |
And the attacking Biden for letting the Afghan who helped us down (and I think Biden is very culpable for the clusterf--- the evacuation of Afghanistan has become) while fearmongering about letting those same Afghans Allies into the US is a new high..or low..n hypocrisy.
No one is saying we should not screen them carefully....I fully expect a few Al qaida types will try to slip in....but it's not an issue of screening, it wanting to keep them out because they have the wrong skin color and the wrong religion. |

That is pure bigotry. I repeat:Yes, there needs to be screening..I have no doubt a few Al Qaida/ISIS types are going to try to slip in...but the crap in the article is pure bigotry What next? We need to put the Abos back in their place? Of course, if I was in snarky mood, I could point out how Australia got started anyway...WHo exactly the First Fleet was bringing over.... |
No fan of the Latter Day Saints church on many issues but I have to approve of what the Governor of Utah just did:
In Utah, Republican Gov. Spencer Cox penned an open letter to Biden Tuesday, offering to accept Afghan refugees, citing the history of the state, which was founded by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Our state was settled by refugees fleeing religious persecution 170 years ago,” he wrote. “Their descendants have a deep understanding of the danger and pain caused by forced migration and an appreciation for the wonderful contributions of refugees in our communities.” |

No, Dutton is a bit of a truncheon-loving guy. His solutions to perceived "problems" involves metaphorically or literally hitting people. He's a thug. |

This seemed the best place for this as Colbert covers the crazy anti-vaxxers, Newsom and a few other hot topics. My favorite part is the anti-vaxxers at a meeting voicing their...um...well, you'll see.

Also, individual Mormons are very often as pleasant and kind as could be. Scary as a group most of the time though. |

Mary Trump's latest interview covering several topic including why so many Trump supporters can't admit they were duped (starting at 8:24), why Donnie may run again and why she's changed her mind on that, etc. It's very interesting. I know several people here will agree with her when she says it's time for the Dems to recognize that playing by the rules doesn't work with the now Fascist GOP.

I didn't know where else to put this, but God help our education system if this is an accurate representation of our young people:

Rather than searching for an old Ted Cruz thread, I'll just post this funny here:
Ted Cruz Tweeted when asked what the unemployed should do now that benefits are ending: "Umm, get a job." One quick reply: "You first!". :sdl: |

After close review, Portland Mayor Wheeler admits that "do nothing and let fascists commit broad daylight gang assault" was probably not the right strategy.

I've never had a couple of Christian youths stop by my house on their bikes and ask if I needed help moving in. The mormon kids said if I never needed anything to just ask. The Mormoms I've encountered, whatever their motives may be, have been very kind and great neighbors, and I never saw their veil slip, if there is one. I've never had one preach to me either. |

I can this either becoming pretty bloody or being a big fizzle. They still have not announced any speakers. Even the obvious GOP nutters like MTG are avoding this one. |

My cousin got sent home from his mission in disgrace because he was going out with a girl on the down low which is against the rules. I was so proud of him! :D When my husband's bio father asked him if he was going to go on mission, he said "Yes...Mission Beach, San Diego!" |
Wait.
So according to Wheeler, it was EXACTLY the right thing to do, but they won't do it anymore because it makes him look bad. Going forward, he will do something worse as long as it doesn't cost him votes. |

What the "stop the steal" debacle showed, even in its failure, is how much of our electoral system relies on a fairly small number of low profile office holders doing their duty faithfully. Driving out responsible people and replacing them with fascists and their enablers is a tactic that could pay huge returns for future races that hinge on disputes in swing states. |
