it flies using water-powered sound. Or maybe he just overheard someone talking about their toothbrush. Either way.

And yes, I imagine he would call it "super duper". I can also see generals and advisers repeatedly asking him not to call it that, only to facepalm when he does so anyway.

And yes, you can see the F-35. Yes, I mean using RADAR, though should be more difficult to do so than with a conventional plane of similar size. Again, it's not like Wonder Woman's invisible jet.

It's consistent with his statement in May that the military was developing a "super duper missile". With a limited vocabulary and a child-like mentality, similar situations are going to result in similar superlatives.

The unit I was in was responsible for our short-range air defense kit (Rapier FSC) tracking the B2 at RIAT at Fairford. The excrement really hit the fan when BAe gave the tape to the news. The USAF spokesman said it wasn't in 'stealth mode'. We just wet ourselves when we heard that.

The truth is that it was tootling along a few hundred feet above the centreline of the runway, well below it's normal mission altitude. We couldn't use the radar as the system was too close to the runway (for some reason pilots don't like radars inadvertantly detonating the det cord used to break up the canopies when they eject), so we used a bit of kit called a pointing stick. It is literally what it says, a stick with a trigger, press the trigger and it slaves the trackers to it. We then used thermal auto tracking to follow the B2. Whatever you do you can't hide the skin temperature of a flying aircraft. Both sides cheated, but their excuse was laughable.

What’s with it that every time Trump makes up a quote about someone talking to him he has to start the quote with, “Sir...” Just a pathological need for butt kissing.

My SIL's brother was born in Germany to a German mother and US born citizen father who was serving in the US Army back in the late 1950's. They were legally married. He was raised in the US. He gave up his automatic dual German citizenship to serve in the US Coast Guard. A few years ago he moved to Thailand. Just before coming back to the US last March, he had his wallet pick pocketed. Upon landing in Seattle, his passport and all his papers were confiscated and he was told he was not a US citizen. His birth certificate was in German because he was not born in a military base hospital.

He was assigned a case worker who couldn't care less that he was obviously an American had lived here since a small child and had a (deceased) American father who was undoubtedly a US citizen. She told him he had no right to have served in the Coast Guard. He was about to be deported to God knows where (they wouldn't tell him) when he was given another case worker who was able to obtain the proof that he was a US citizen. Chilling to think he could have been deported with no money and no paper work to some third world country because of some idiot ICE worker who didn't give a damn.

This is the right thread. There is only one person responsible for the attitude of border patrol and ICE agents.

The recurring theme among people terrified of blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, liberals, refugees, or immigrants in general seems to be strength in numbers. Muslims, Mexicans, refugee caravans, it's some sort of modern barbarian invasion. The modern, noble society versus the masses of primitive Gauls/Mongols/Mexican families/Middle Eastern refugees/wildlings/Ewoks. When their numbers reach a certain point, civilization is doomed.

This reminds of a story (no doubt embroidered), about Concords being used to simulate Russian bombers in NATO exercises. The concord pilots were mostly ex-RAF and did not serenely fly into USAF arms. In the version I heard transiently switching off the transponder and the fact that delta winged aircraft are naturally fairly stealthy meant that the USAF failed to intercept any concord on a bombing mission. (Also the concord could fly higher and faster than any US interceptor.)

I am sure posters here know far more than I do, so I am happy to be told this is nonsense. Just do it nicely!

The trick is that, while he signed a likely toothless order saying they had to "provide coverage", he didn't put any sort of controls for monthly payments, copays, lifetime caps, rescissions or much of anything else. IOW, people with preexisting conditions will get garbage insurance or go without, if the ACA is tossed out.

Yes, but the a Trump Administration was trying to gut that provision. EventuallyPOTUS figured out how popular the regulation was so his professed philosophy became “the Democrats want to take away pre-existing protections, but I won’t let them.”

Will we ever get out of the rabbit hole?

Um, that is the law at the moment, right?

Why does he need an executive order to say "we will follow the law as established by the ACA"?

You know how, when someone says "Jesus saves," and you ask "saves you from what?" and the answer is "from what he'll do to you if you don't let him save you"? It's something like that- Trump will save your healthcare coverage from the threat of what he and his party are trying to do to it. Trump will be The Saviour, even when he's the only danger you need to be saved from. It's the perfect racket for him- after all, a lot of the people who are (for some reason) his most gape-jawed adorers are the same sort of people who have been falling for it for 2000 years.

Sadly, no. I'm rather sure that ICE's behavior has been quite problematic for a long time. Trump and his Administration's influence has been quite notable, but not definitive. They've helped bring out the worst in ICE and make it dominant in a bunch of ways, sure, though.

Trump wanted it there. Also, it's more than that, I'd say.

To poke at two of the other things that are pretty much a given, though...

3) Intentionally working to hurt Democratic leaning areas and then blaming the Democrats for any problems that result as an attempt to gain political advantage is pretty much a standard Republican tactic now.

4) It also adds to the general chaos of things and, especially for those who aren't politically involved, Democrats calling out Republicans for what the Republicans actually are doing triggers disbelief and may reduce involvement because of the unpleasant confusion and negativity that inevitably becomes more and more associated with politics.

A great number of the folks falling for it have noticed DJT’s words, actions, and decisions and look for a way to console themselves. The most common method is to tell everyone “God sent Donald Trump to us in order to change the direction of the United States of America.”

And that right there is the one thing the always-Trumpers and never-Trumpers agree on: DJ Trump is changing the direction of America.
