From SNL last night:

A rabid fox bit a Congressman in D. C.

The fox caught rabies when it was bitten be Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Yes, that powerful and compelling argument was bandied about quite a lot in Vermont....20 years ago? Nope, it was more like 23 years ago. And did all our heterosexual marriages wither on the vine and did everyone rush out to marry their sisters and their cats? Nope. And is the argument still going on? Yup.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in Vermont in Sept. 2009. The divorce rate in 2010 was 3.8% per 1,000 people. In 2020, the divorce rate was 2.1 divorces per 1,000. Clearly, same-sex marriage has been responsible for destroying opposite-sex marriage!

Just to be clear, I'm counting from the debate and passing of Civil Unions - the debate for which occurred mostly in 1999 and the enactment in 2000.

I was going to go on and on about this, but having done so before, will just say the arguments were hot and heavy, dripping with stupidity, misinformation, bigotry and, especially in the case of certain religious sectors, hyperbolic hypocrisy.

So......nothing unusual. Just par for the course when it comes to certain groups.

Good point. Although she could also mean it in active sense: the "forced" transitioning of children, i.e. "programming them to be gay!" (the horror...)

When it comes to MTG, she could have meant anything. It doesn't have to be logical, rational, possible, probable, or even within the realm of reality.

I saw Kimmel's response and it was pretty funny, and also well done in terms of pointing out the absurdity of her allegations, given her record. I think she's way outclassed.

Matt Gaetz, calling Jimmy Kimmel a "total jerk," comes to emptyg's defense.

Kimmel would not last too long if he were interested in engaging in unprovoked, terrible violence against this Congresswoman. Twitter link

Kimmel was actually right. Where is Will Smith when we need him? ;)

Always on top of things, Marj blamed New York's gun laws for the Brooklyn subway shootings. If she'd been on the train she would have gotten herself killed taken down the gunman herself.

I told my husband this morning when I turned on the news, "And cue the gun lovers telling us how the shooter would have been taken down if people on the subway had also been packing."

I can just imagine the shoot out at the OK Subway.

Gaetz, in his Twit defense of emptyg against Kimmel, moots the notion of "unprovoked, terrible violence" by Kimmel against emptyg. And crowing about how emptyg and hubby would "make quick work" of Kimmel. Just like a Rethuglican, going straight to the violence. Shows how their reptilian brains are wired. And their proclivity to confessorial projection.

I’m doubtful that Marj would have the situational awareness to ensure there were no innocent civilians standing behind or near the perp.

You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Dead innocent bystanders are an unfortunate necessary cost of freedom.

I've been on crowded NYC subways. If she (or anyone) had "unloaded a clip" at someone, there would be a dozen more dead and injured people for sure. Probably far more casualties than caused by the original assailant.

Well, she is kind of like a Black Hole of pure stupidity. It's possible she is so dense that the bullets themselves, no matter where they were aimed, would curve back at her.

Basic problem being: How does the armed vigilante really know who is the bad guy? If everybody has guns, it's a big shoot-out. How do you know who are the bad guys?

In contrast, with gun regulations (severe ones), only criminals have guns, so the one with the gun is the criminal. (In fact even criminals will rarely be packing, as this alone will give them away.)

You'd be amazed at how common the "I can just tell who's a bad guy" mentality is among the Proudly Wrong.

Ever since this conversation started, I keep picturing the subway scene from Predator 2. Released in 1990 and depicting the future year of 1997, when everyone carries guns.

Now emptyg is blaming Biden and the FBI. For the Brooklyn subway shooting. The Tweet below was in answer to John Cardillo of the Rebel News Network who wondered, "with thousands of cameras deployed," how come no one can track this guy? {These 'tweets' were posted yesterday, obviously before James was arrested.

What can you expect from someone who can't even grasp the very basic difference between a plural and a possessive?

Trying to stop untraceable ghost guns is 'gun control'? It's just plain common sense...oh, wait....sorry. Silly me.

....or for that matter left out a fairly important comma, making the sentence read that the FBI did the mass shooting.

If EmptyG can't even understand the difference between a simple plural and a possessive, proper comma usage is way over her head.
