Why bother to prepare in depth for debates when you intend to ignore inconvenient questions and instead parrot your favourite catch phrases throughout ?

I think it would be rather funny if Biden came out with a book, perhaps Mary Trump's and started reading it when Trump bathers on.

Funny, but a very, very, bad idea IMO.

With much pearl-clutching, FOXNews and Sinclair media would claim that this was disrespectful. The other media outlets would feel obliged to report on this. The overwhelming majority of Americans would have the impression that Joe Biden had been unacceptably disrespectful to President Trump.

edited to add...

If President Trump doesn't **** himself, the media will be full of reports of how well he performed and how Presidential he seemed.

Any tiny flub or stumble from Biden no matter how minor will be seized on by the media.

Yes.
One group was judging the debate on ability to succinctly and comprehensively describe a plan to reach a specific goal while simultaneousLy noting how one might deal with possible hazards that the plan may encounter.

One group was judging the debate on the ability to put that bitch in her place while simultaneously describing vague goals without all that boring stuff like statistics or possible shortfalls of various plans.

Plus, they had Mr. Chucklehead himself saying that “many academics and business owners called me to say how good my answers were. These are common-sense solutions to simple straight-forward problems.”

When tear gas and rubber bullets aren't enough.

Microwave and acoustic weapons were requested for use against the DC demonstrators, but weren't available.

7,000 rounds of live ammo were also transferred, so I guess it could have been worse.

Quote:

Federal officials looked into getting a heat ray that makes targets' skin feel like it's burning and amassed thousands of rounds of ammunition in preparation for clearing a peaceful protest in Lafayette Square in June, according to written House testimony from an Army National Guard major who was at the scene.
...
[Major] DeMarco wrote that the Defense Department's head military police officer for the National Capitol Region emailed him and others on the day of the protests asking if the DC National Guard had "a Long Range Acoustic Device," which can blast walls of sound at protesters, or "the Active Denial Systems," which feature "a directed energy beam that provides sensation of intense heat on the surface of the skin."
...
He also referenced a weapons transfer to the DC National Guard the afternoon of the protest that he later learned contained "approximately 7,000 rounds of ammunition."

Regardless you have to admit that the Arab nations recognizing Israeli sovereignty is a big deal. Israelis can finally travel to foreign Arab nations and vice versa. If you don't think that's a good thing and a step in the right direction then I don't know what to say. A lot of our political maneuvering in the middle east is for profit, but also as a deterrent to keep Israel from getting gang banged by all the Arab nations

It's not a big deal yet. It will be a big deal if it sticks. UAE has already said the deal is contingent upon a cessation of West Bank annexations and Israel has only committed to a pause. If annexations resume, it all falls apart. I imagine Bahrain will have similar issues.

The ingenuity of the Feds when it comes to methods of torturing and harming their own citizens is remarkable.

Another entry in the fun-but-a-bad-debate-idea category would be for Biden to start his responses by holding up a piece of paper and making a mark on it before saying, “Sorry for that short interruption, I’m playing malignant narcissist bingo. If, in his next response, the president demonstrates he has no empathy for other people’s emotions, Ill have five boxes in a row.” Wait until President Chucklehead is answering a COVID question and interrupt him by yelling Bingo.

It's not that surprising. Trump is just a specifically bad tumor on a growing cancer of anti-intellectualism (and hell even broader "anti-having any form of standards at all" nihilism) that's been spreading hard for a while now.

Amy Dorris has come forward with a new sexual assault allegation against Donald Trump

Quote:

Amy Dorris alleges Trump forced his tongue down her throat and groped her at 1997 US Open

‘It felt like tentacles’

A former model has come forward to accuse Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her at the US Open tennis tournament more than two decades ago, in an alleged incident that left her feeling “sick” and “violated”.

In an exclusive interview with the Guardian, Amy Dorris alleged that Trump accosted her outside the bathroom in his VIP box at the tournament in New York on 5 September 1997.

Dorris, who was 24 at the time, accuses Trump of forcing his tongue down her throat, assaulting her all over her body and holding her in a grip she was unable to escape from.

And more on the Barr front.

Bill Barr wanted to arrest a city’s mayor for trying to keep police and protesters apart

Quote:

While Attorney General Bill Barr was outed for trying to charge protesters with sedition, it appears he also wanted to indict Seattle’s mayor.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Barr was livid that Mayor Jenny Durkan created “protest zones,” to keep protesters isolated in a specific area and away from police. The zone stopped police and protesters from clashing, which had been a problem in other cities where police moved in on protesters and where protesters would throw water bottles and other items at police.

“The directives are in keeping with Mr. Barr’s approach to prosecute crimes as aggressively as possible in cities where protests have given way to violence,” said the Times. “But in suggesting possible prosecution of Ms. Durkan, a Democrat, Mr. Barr also took aim at an elected official whom President Trump has repeatedly attacked.”
Yeah... all the more reason to believe that they were actively TRYING to stir up more violence.

Another sexual assault allegation against stubby Mcbonespurs... This one from a former model Any Dorris who claims trump attacked her back in the 90s.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...-1997-n1240291

While I think there is a good chance the allegation is true (subject to investigation), the timing makes it look... Suspicious. (Wasn't reported to police at the time, nor were the allegations made back in 2016 when other women were coming forward. Even if she had valid reasons for staying silent at the time, it does bring up questions of being just a political stunt.)

Craig4 17th September 2020 09:37 AM

I've put he Cohen book aside so I can read "Rage" by Bob Woodward. The opening pages are a bit of an eye-opener. For all the talk about the China virus and China's lack of transparency, what hasn't been reported is what the deputy National Security Advisor told the president in the famous January briefing. The deputy National Security Advisor,Matt Pottinger is fluent in Mandarin and lived in China as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal during the SARS outbreak. The lack of Chinese openness never mattered at all. He had spoken to a number Chinese medical professionals, academics and government officials who told him, "think 1918 flu". Even if the Chinese weren't transparent with WHO and the CDC, it appears as though they were completely transparent with the president's deputy national security advisor.

I can only assume and I'm not clear on why that Barr intended this to come out. Barr must know that nearly everyone in DOJ hates him and that such conversations would become public. Is the point maybe to throw red meat to Trump's base? Even he, as incompetent and disloyal as he is must know that a grand jury empaneled in Seattle would never indict their mayor.

From the link:
Quote:

Her account was also corroborated by several people she confided in about the incident. They include a friend in New York and Dorris’s mother, both of whom she called immediately after the alleged incident, as well as a therapist and friends she spoke to in the years since. All said Dorris had shared with them details of the alleged incident that matched what she later told the Guardian.
If she told other people about it at the time, that counts for a lot. Considering what has happened to other women who made similar accusations publicly, it's not surprising that she kept quiet for so long. And considering how Trump has behaved all his life, it wouldn't surprise me if there are hundreds of women with similar stories who chalked it up as just another bad experience with jerk.

"The Chinese" covers a lot of ground. A veteran reporter would develop sources outside the government bureaucracy, just as they do in the U.S. Keep in mind that the Chinese arrested a doctor who tried to warn his colleagues about this weird new disease, and who subsequently died of it himself. Trump preferred to believe his BFF Xi Jinping over his own intelligence officials.

In the book Pottinger describes who he talked to. He doesn't mention names but what they told him made anything the Chinese government was trying to silence the doctor from saying, trivial.

When I say Chinese, I mean the government of the PRC not Chinese people generally. I apologize if that was not clear.
