Same with DeVos. And what's her name in the CIA, if she's approved.

ETA: how about everyone but Bolton?

Even Bolton is fair game. Anyone who Trump sees as a threat to his primacy and fame is also out the door. Just look at Bannon.

Only if England between 1880 and 1950 is considered "New China". It's made-up... it sounded good. No Chinese I know has ever heard of it except in the modern context of furriners asking if they know the Old Chinese Curse.

It's like Sean Connery in "Entrapment"(it was just on TV this morning) attributing "You don't use a cannon to swat a mosquito" to Confucius. Man, he was good,... considering he lived in the sixth century BCE.

I am not so sure. Trump has a way of turning on his partners, and if he sees attacking Iran as a way of "Making America Great Again" he will ignore Putin on that issue.

America ruining itself in a pointless war that cannot be won has to be Putin's wettest dream. There are plenty of ways for a ruthless third party dictator to take advantage of the mess. Plenty of countries will be majorly pissed by such a war, that's all potential partners for Putin.

Nothing wrong with that when you're in the MAGA administration. Trump'll want to give him a bonus.

I think that the EPA spokesliar may be the first to go from this story.

From the linked ABC article:

Conservatives have promised a counter-boycott. That is, they plan to boycott any advertisers who stop supporting Ingraham.

There are several problems with this. Most of Ingraham's audience is obviously right-wing, but most consumers for these businesses are going to be left or center. At that point it comes down to who cares more. So what is the counter-boycott supporting? Mocking a teen survivor of a mass shooting for getting rejected from some colleges and having a 4.1 GPA... At one time I would have said that it would be a slam dunk that people would care more about condemning such behavior than supporting it. However, the last year has shown that 80-90% of the remaining GOP is really that vile. That means now I don't know.

Business wise, that's a tough call for those companies. They obviously found value in advertising on her program before. Morality wise, better to make the call that hurts business a little more than support such bad behavior, especially when the business call is that close.

Quote:

Trump has never forgiven him [for recusing himself]. In public and private, the President has denigrated the proud former Senator, calling him an “idiot,” “beleaguered” and “disgraceful.” ... The broken relationship has turned the job of a lifetime into an exercise in humiliation. Rumors that Sessions’ neck is on the chopping block are constant, and Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt has been angling to replace him.

It cannot be an accident that Trump, on Friday, in addition to declaring this the Be Nice to Wominz Month, also declared it Hey Let's Let Bygones be Bygones Month and is supporting (for now) a bipartisan effort to make nice-nice with former prisoners and felons. Hang 'em High Jefferson the Traitor Elf has got to be totally against that effort.

Interesting story about ex-VA boss Shulkin in Politico.

Quote:

The White House is now asserting that recently departed Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin resigned. Shulkin has made it clear in his public comments that he was forced out.
Quote:

In announcing the removal of Shulkin as VA secretary, Trump tapped Defense Department official Robert Wilkie as the acting leader of the department, bypassing Shulkin’s deputy, who was next in line to succeed him. That decision has reignited a debate among legal experts about the president’s ability to hand-pick replacements for ousted Cabinet secretaries.
Quote:

The debate centers on vague language in the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998, which gives the president broad authority to temporarily fill a vacancy at a federal agency with an acting official if the current office holder “dies, resigns, or is otherwise unable to perform the functions and duties of the office.”
Quote:

But some legal experts note that the law does not explicitly grant that authority to the president in the case of firings. That could make Trump’s decision to appoint Wilkie, the under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness, as acting VA secretary a potential test of the president’s authorities under the act.

It's interesting because if Trump fires Sessions he might want to replace him with someone other than Deputy AG Rosenstein. Of course, it would probably be someone who would fire Meuller.

LOL.

I dunno. Donny takes perceived insults like this very personally. Hence trying to wind back everything Obama did after the public roasting. And perhaps Sessions is having a little dig back at Donny with this. Jeffy may be an elf, but he is also not a fool. He will know this would rile the tangerine twat.

I think that's Craig's point. That a simple firing wouldn't be sufficient but he'd need to be humiliated beforehand.

That, and Jeffy needs to be out of town. Trump seems to be too chicken to fire someone to their face, and the higher their position the farther away he seems to need them to be when he does it. (Or more likely, has someone to do it for him.)

Surely, you jest. This is Donnie Johnny who gets chauffeurs to lie about him breaking up beat downs, who would've single-handedly won the war in Vietnam if not for those burn spores or whatever they were, who would've rushed into the school in Parkland even without a weapon, who won a scripted fight with Vince McMahon! And, try as I might, it's really hard to do a mitzvah and feel bad about how these people are treated. I mean... we're talking about Jeff Sessions, Steve Bannon, The Mooch, Flynn, Paulie Ukraine.... I'm having a hard time mustering all that much sympathy.

It's possible to enjoy the watching of Trump's cabal circling the drain AND a bunch of smarmy insidious individuals getting their just desserts even if from the wrong source.

Most of The Hair's broken toys were either trying to use a Trump administration to enrich themselves (Manafort, Gates) or thought he would be a good vehicle for their own screwed up agendas. Unless there's more dirt on Sessions, it's unfortunate that the vile creature will probably come out a hero in all this.

That was my thinking.

Donny has already tried to grossly humiliate Jeffy from the day he recused himself. It's been pretty much non-stop so it's not like any added humiliation is going to make things worse. How many more times can he get kicked in the balls in public and still keep the joke funny? There's a point where the slapstick loses it's joke capacity, and the victim becomes an object of sympathy, or, at least, empathy, and the perpetrator no longer the jokester but a torturer. Donny, having no empathetic bone in his body, will have no clue.

So now the Elf has now managed to get himself on the cover of Time fer realz as a serious guy, while Donny hasn't except as political cartoon satire (or the "fake Times" covers). So while Donny gets pissed off at this, Jeffy continues to get sympathy votes the more Donny derides him.

ETA: IMHO neither Jeffy nor Donny are nice people. Neither should be anywhere near the reins of power.
