Tuesday Greene held a press conference in which she called for the dismissal of Dr. Anthony Fauci. Today?

Quote:

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced a bill on Thursday to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives after the agency issued two proposed rule changes that have angered Second Amendment advocates. The legislation would rescind all ATF regulations put in place after Aug. 1, 2020, forbid the government body from hiring, and require top authorities to publicize an itemized list of all confiscated firearms and ammunition, which will then be auctioned to the public, according to a copy of the bill. The proposal would also transfer the bureau's regulatory power to the FBI. Yahoo Finance news link

Not that her reasons for doing it are sane, but shouldn’t ATF just be part of the FBI?

I don't really see most FBI agents being all that excited about getting all gunned up and going out looking for stills in the swamps of Southern Maryland where I live.

It's should be a department/taskforce in the FBI probably.

Short answer... no
But damn, I just deleted a ~300 word intro to why the early DOJ and nascent Treasury Dept was a tad complicated.
The US Secret Service, the firearms acts of the thirties (and eighties), and the protective services of the the Treasury Service wend their way through the tale.
It's not odd, but screwy, and beyond me to tell intellegebly.

(damn auto... is that last a word?)

IIRC, the ATF being part of the US Treasury goes back to when part of their job was to ensure that taxes were paid on home-made alcohol. Their agents were even known by the moonshiners as the "Revenue Men". I'm not sure if that is still (no pun intended) part of their job, but if it is, it would make no sense to merge them with the FBI.

Bottom line: If we're going to talk about dismantling a federal law enforcement agency, let's start with the DEA. They're a pox on this country and the nations of Central and South America.

God wouldn't create a pox on 'his' country. C. and S. America: yes. They're not even "real" Americans despite the name.

From the Tennessean, a Nashville newspaper. Wilson County is located just east of Nashville.
Quote:

The Wilson County Republican Party has selected a keynote speaker for this year's annual Trump Day Dinner: U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a controversial member of Congress stripped this year of her House committee assignments. Greene, a North Georgia Republican whose district borders the Chattanooga area, will speak at the county party's fundraising dinner Oct. 7, Wilson County GOP chairman Brad Lytle confirmed...Some "Reagan Day" dinners in Tennessee, longstanding Republican fundraising events held by county parties, have in recent years changed their name to "Trump Day." In Wilson County, that change occurred in 2020. The year before that, the county party took a hybrid approach, calling it the "Reagan/Trump Day Dinner."Tennessean link

A one-hour private reception with Greene. That $1,000 includes a mandatory $500 check made out to Greene's campaign account. The remaining portion of the donation goes to the county party.

Yes it is. ATF Agents still go out looking for stills and arresting moonshiners in the remote parts of the Southern US. I'm not that remote but I mostly live in swamp so they come around where I am in Southern Maryland. The shady little, stop and rob liquor/convenience/farm supply store by my house sells cases of mason jars year round to support a "certain clientele".

I heard an interview with one of that Gosar boy's brothers. In it, he refers to Marjorie Traitor Greene. I have to say, I kind of like it.

Not only that, but the other brother calls Paul Gosar a pathological liar, and at least suspects he is one of the people behind the insurrection.

I understand that members and Capitol Police observed the Gosar boy giving tours to people on the the 5th. Those same people were part of the enemy force that attacked the capitol the following day.

Originally the AFT was set up in the Department of the Tresury since it's main job was seeing that the federal laws taxes and licence fees were paid by Distillers and the Tobacco companies; and those evading the taxes and fees..ie the bootleggers..were caught. Firearms was thrown in ,I understand, when the FBI did not want the political baggage that enforcing gun laws would involve.

More words of wisdom from MTG. Posted about ninety minutes ago.

Marjorie Taylor Greene @mtgreenee
Business owners & gun owners are the greatest threat to the Democrat’s ultimate goal of socialism.

Because of their mindset.

They are independent, successful & don’t need to rely on the government.

They can’t be convinced they’re a victim.

Therefore they can’t be controlled. Twitter link

Greene says:

They don't? Everytown research dot org found:
Quote:

Despite a record year for gun sales, an Everytown analysis found that the firearms industry received extensive support from the first tranche of funding from the federal Paycheck Protection Program. Specifically, the data indicates that at least 1,871 firearms-related businesses and organizations received PPP funds from the federal government totaling $156.9 million in 2020. In several specific instances, the federal government’s support of larger players in the firearms industry through the PPP is at odds with evidence about the strength of their respective businesses in 2020. Government assistance through the PPP includes $3 million to a producer of AR-platform weapons, $1.6 million to a manufacturer of silencers, and nearly $400,000 to one of the most prominent producers of ghost gun kits and parts in the United States. Everytown link
The industry actually bragged about how well they did in 2020.
Quote:

According to [Smith & Wesson] CEO Mark Smith, the company is celebrating its best year since it was established 169 years ago. In addition to its quarterly earnings, Smith & Wesson also presented its last fiscal year. The gun manufacturer reported its sales doubled in its last fiscal year to $1.1 billion. The surge in sales came as more Americans stockpiled guns and ammunition during the Coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to the increase in sales, Smith & Wesson generated a profit of $252.04 million, giving it enough to settle all its debts. link to FXEmpire financial news site

I feel pretty sure that just about every one of the 74 million Americans who voted for four more years of donald trump last year, I'd bet just about everyone of them sides with and would defend Greene. And are greatly influenced by her nonstop blathering. Her record as one of the top fundraisers in Congress -- I think she's third behind Scalise and Pelosi -- is ample proof a lot of Americans take her very seriously.

In other words, 80-90% of the GOP.

There may be some GOP representatives who are unhappy that she foghorns what they're dog-whistling but the means and the ends seem similar enough.

Vox reported in April, for the first quarter 2021:
Quote:

In preparation for what is likely to be a contentious reelection fight, freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has raised more than $3 million in the last three months, Politico reported Wednesday. It’s a shocking total, one that dwarfs the nearly $728,000 Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) pulled in during the first three months of 2019, and it follows months of controversy that have dogged Greene since her election victory in November.

“I’m just getting started,” Greene tweeted Wednesday while celebrating the haul. “I am one of the people and the people are with me, and I will always be with them.” Vox link
