Pompeo may be in danger. He's in the Bolton camp when it comes to Iran. He go upstaged by the daughter in Asia and Trump talked him up during the trip. This "scandal" of abuse of power is likely something Trump knew about for a while.

Unless he's found several cousins no one can recall him having I think one or the other is safe, for now. He can't replace both of his warhawks at once. And haven't most of the Kill Kill Kill brigade already been hired and fired? I suppose there's always hope that he'll find some Fox eye candy for one position or the other, but if he puts incompetent stooges in their positions, he's inviting an uber right militarist walk-out and maybe even a primary challenge.

But that's what Trump does. Nobody can be smarter than Godfather Donny. Or they gets the hard goodbye, see!

Entertainingly, Khrushchev sent Molotov, as ambassador, to Mongolia to get rid of him. Perhaps the Russians made the same suggestion to Trump.

Slate suggests Bolton may be on the outer because of geopolitical reasons. Given Trump's hypersensitivity to complaints, and Bolton has been a source of same, I would suggest he is seen as a dead weight for the Trump re-election campaign and that's all. Bugger the world or US affairs of state or anything as unimportant as that. Bolton makes Trump look bad. Ergo he is disposable.

I can't imagine Bolton's happy about Trump's position with North Korea, either. He's more of a "fire and fury" type of guy. And a Chicken Hawk, of course.

Interesting that Bolton is also anti-Russian, and is convinced Russia interfered in the 2016 election. So that may be another reason Trump doesn't want him around from now on. ;) And he is also a shytehawk.

After his failure in Korea (which he likely views as a success) Trump may be happy with a nobody "acting" SECSTATE and let his nit who grew into a lice and her mate perform the role.

Overheard in a sports bar, couple of guys arguing current politics....

"Hey, one thing about Trump is that he knew how to party. A lot of what he says is just joking around. He's a fun guy."

"I don't want to be picky but it's "fungus" not "fungae"."

Acosta says he will not resign his office. Given the record of Trump officials who have said that, he will be gone before the Holidays, if that long.
I posted before I saw Acosta was gone. I admit I did not think it would happen THAT fast.

I admit I share Bolton's opinion of Russia and Putin. But, yeah, the guy is gonerallay a moron.

all for Nunes moving to a position from which he can be impeached.

Peter Navarro, Exonomic Advisor might be in trouble with Trump rejecting Navarro's proposal to devalue the dollar in the Trade war with China.
Navarro is regarded, by almost all economists, regardless of political views, as a crackpot.
Many conservative economists consider his appointment to be one of Trump's worst choiches.

That's an unenviable distinction.

And a really low bar to crawl under.

Exit Dan Coats, enter John Ratcliffe.

Poor old Devin! The guy's gone through a case of Chapstick in just over two years and whatever new slut catches Donnie's eye gets the available position. Is Devin holding out for Pompeo's or Bolton's job? They're both on thin ice.

He's not that anti-Russian or anti-Putin. He spoke at a totally fake Kremlin organised Russian "gun-rights" conference.

Armitage72 13th August 2019 05:24 AM

Not directly on his staff, but the highest ranking career intelligence official in the country has resigned after being passed over for the DNI position.

Quote:

President Donald Trump is quickly losing his top intelligence officials, and his self-inflicted brain drain will continue to have dangerous consequences for US national security. The resignation of Sue Gordon -- the highest-ranking career intelligence official in the country -- after being passed over for the role of Acting Director of National Intelligence, will introduce unnecessary disruptions into an already strained intelligence community.

It was obvious why she didn't have much of a future.

Quote:

As an experienced intelligence officer, according to the President, Gordon performed her responsibilities with "candor" -- her job was to tell the President what he needed to hear, not what he wanted to hear, even if he rebuffed the analysis she tried to present.

thaiboxerken 13th August 2019 05:58 AM

Don Jon hates it when people don't tell him what he wants to hear and he especially if it is a woman doing so.

More than a few people in the IC are currently ******** their pants knowing that another critical grownup has left the administration.

Hard to believe that the beneficiaries of a foreign active measures campaign along with a handful of directed cyberattacks wouldn't be motivated to shore up our intelligence bureaus.

Er, no. Ratcliffe didn't even make it to the dugout let alone a chance to hit out. Even the repugnant Repubs found him too horrible to contemplate. Buh-bye, we hardly knew ye...and a good thing too.

As far as I'm aware, that was speculation.

I'm not trying to be disagreeable; I genuinely think if they told Trump his toadie wouldn't pass muster it would only make him double down. He's all about the self-destructive loyalty tests.

I find it more likely that someone from intelligence had a sit down with Ratcliffe and made it clear he would be completely in over his head in the role.

That's actually interesting, as she can't have quite the oppressive NDA all once-WH-now-Campaign officials had to sign.
When Fox gives her the green light, she might have a lot of juicy stories to tell.

Segnosaur 29th August 2019 10:42 PM

Another loss from the White House:

From: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/29/polit...out/index.html
Madeleine Westerhout resigned as executive assistant to the President on Thursday after Trump learned she had shared information with reporters at a recent off-the-record meeting

Not exactly a political figure. But, she had apparently been quite loyal for several years.

shemp 30th August 2019 07:37 AM

But, apparently, not loyal enough.

It's going to become harder to replace people if the general perception is that his ship is sinking.

From what little I know about the situation (which admittedly isn't much), I don't think it was a question of 'loyalty'... I think it was more an issue of carelessness.

Trump's ship is not sinking, like the titanic... its soaring, SOARING I tell you, like the Hindenburg.
