Did anyone have any bets about Pompeo being the next to leave?

From: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/tru...roles-n1082716
Trump has fumed for weeks that Pompeo is responsible for hiring State Department officials whose congressional testimony threatens to bring down his presidency... The president confronted Pompeo about the officials — and what he believed was a lackluster effort by the secretary of state to block their testimony...

Apparently Pompeo is also disliked by members of the state department, although I'm sure Trump doesn't really care about that.

In the Trumpiverse, being disliked by career diplomats -- in fact any career federal employee -- is an asset. Deep state, and all that.

Mina Chang, a State Department official has resigned amid allegations that she lied on her CV (resume) and faked a Time cover:

Quote:

NBC News reported last week that Ms Chang had inflated her educational achievements and exaggerated the scope of her non-profit work.

It said that an NBC News investigation had found that Ms Chang:
  • Created a fake Time magazine cover with her face on it
  • Claimed a non-existent degree from the University of Hawaii
  • Invented a role on a United Nations panel
  • Claimed to have addressed both the Democratic and the Republican national conventions

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-50471352

She denies the allegations and claims that the State Department is out to get her. She seems like the ideal candidate for the Trump Administration, a liar who faked a Time cover and who simply denies evidence which is demonstrably there.

More of the very best people I guess

Of course, it was the vetting at the job application that found her out.

...oh wait.
Quote:

...the scandal has raised questions about the Trump administration's vetting process.
No it hasn't. It has actually confirmed them. If you lie and cheat at least superficially well and are a half-decent looking woman* then you stand a good chance of working in a highly responsible government position which you are entirely unqualified to be in.
Quote:

... before the row she was being considered for a more important government position managing a budget of more than $1bn.
*No, I have no idea how Betsy DeVoss got her job. Must have been the money.

Well, if the whole world is out to get out you, it's probably onto something. The problem may not be with the whole world.

Can't we criticize them on their merits or lack thereof without bringing age and looks into the discussion?

We can, but then again youth and prettiness do seem to be important (primary ? sole ?) criteria when it comes to the selection of female members of the administration.

There are exceptions, but most female staffers seem to fit a particular template and when their qualifications are examined in detail they do seem to be un(der)qualified and/or have lied about their fitness for the posts.

Those are the qualifications the Trump team value in a woman applicant - looks and/or money.

I wouldn't even know. I always saw Sanders and Spicer and even Mooch, but I couldn't pick this one out of a lineup.

Anybody who is a good Public Relatations professional would run away like hell if someone offered them the WH Press Secretary Job. You would be working for the Boss From Hell and probably destroy your professional reputation as well.

Whenever I feel guilty for sleeping well at night, I try to remember those we've lost throughout this thread and how they somehow managed to land on their feet.

That's why she'll be there for the duration. She's exactly what Trump wants.

Traditional whores are paid by their clients for their lies. In this case, the whore is being paid American tax money for lies most of us don't want.

At the risk of serious digression, where's the lie? Even the "gf experience" is known to be simulacrum. May as well accuse an actress for coming across as genuinely in character.

So fired twice for unethical behavior, arrested twice for DUI and had a warrant issued for failing to show. She sounds just perfect for Trump's press secretary!

However you characterize them, it's the difference between welcome lies and lies that are destroying our country.

Probably not, but then ... they could dance.

Also, if you were to have caught them in it they would have carried it off much better.

Navy Secretary has been fired over President Trump's decision to pardon a Navy Seal who killed an unarmed 17-year old Islamic State prisoner.

Quote:

In his resignation letter to President Trump, Mr Spencer wrote: "The rule of law is what sets us apart from our adversaries. Good order and discipline is what has enabled our victory against foreign tyranny time and again."

"Unfortunately it has become apparent that in this respect, I no longer share the same understanding with the Commander in Chief who appointed me, in regards to the key principle of good order and discipline."

"I cannot in good conscience obey an order that I believe violates the sacred oath I took."

In order to serve in the Trump White House, I guess you have to tolerate, or ideally support, US service personnel committing war crimes. :(

Making war crimes great again. It's disgusting that Trump does this and that he still has supporters.

Indeed, he's likely to gain support thanks to the way that he's "supporting the military"

I suspect it changes nothing.

After the way he treated McCain's war record, Gold Star parents, etc., not to mention his own draft dodging, anyone who still believed he has any interest in actually supporting the military as opposed to making self-serving gestures has already demonstrated their unquestioning commitment to him.

The ones who know better will not be swayed by this.

The ones who understand the rule of law, order, and discipline in the military will be disgusted by him.

More than they already were, I should add.

She's attributed Bolton's Twitter problem to his advanced age, saying he forgot his password. Bolton is 71. Trump is 73.

Donald Trump is like a bizarro George Washington. He seems to be doing his best to do the wrong thing every time. His only quality is that he doesn't own slaves.
