This is correct. Plasma is physics is an advanced subject. Astronomy 101 students are taught about the properties of plasma. Plasma is quasi-neutral. We can treat large bodies of plasma like starts as hot gas.

Also explained to Sol88 many times over the last 10 or more years but he is too interested in drinking his cult's poison to understand what plasma is :eye-poppi.

The textbook astronomy is that his demented cult electric sun dogma makes the Sun collapse to a white dwarf. A white dwarf is what a star the mass of the Sun becomes when there is no internal heat source. This is relevant o his demented cult electric sun dogma :jaw-dropp!

A deluded lie that SAFIRE has shown anything about the Sun or other stars.

1. The Sun is a not a metal ball.
2. The Sun is not powered by a electric cable from the mains supply :p!
3. Sol88's demented cult idiocy of lying about the Sun, e.g. granulations are not "tufts".
4. Sol88's demented cult idiocy of "bunnies in the clouds" logic. Things looking alike does not mean they are the same or even related.
5. An externally powered star collapses because its increasing weight with depth is not supported by increasing temperature and pressure.

This is the Parker Solar Probe. It is real science, not the insane dogma of a demented cult about the Sun which is SAFIRE. The FIELDS instrument is one of several scientific instruments on the probe.

Be interesting to see how one of their 'experts' firstly explains the outgoing quasi-neutral solar wind, the IMF, and the invisible current that is battling past the aforementioned. That is what they should have done before even starting their 'experiment' on what happens when you put a squillion volts through a metallic sphere!

Be very interesting if safire would publish a peer reviewed paper ...

That is not really a SAFIRE paper, SDG.
That October 2015 paper is the one and only paper the researchers have produced in the 7 years since the project was proposed. We have seen it before and ignored it because it is not electric sun insanity.
Study of striations in a spherically symmetric hydrogen discharge is a fairly standard plasma physics paper that does not mention the fundamental insanity of the SAFIRE project of being a deluded model of the Sun. "Fairly" standard because there is hint of electric universe stupidity. [b]Striations[/B ]in discharges are not new ("first observed in 1843" in their first reference). A spherically symmetric source producing spherically symmetric striations is not a surprise. Calling those striations, double layers is dubious. It suggests the Thunderbolts cult obsession with double layers, Birkeland currents, etc. anywhere that they imagine.
What if the striations are just standing waves in the plasma? It may be that the mechanism producing these striations is unknown.

Lowell Morgan is a working plasma physicist.
Montgomery W Childs is the Thunderbolts cult crank (an engineer?) who proposed SAFIRE because the cult has the delusion that the Sun cannot be fusion powered. The SAFIRE project web site has several delusion's and lies..

• A deluded "It [fusion] has never been proven" lie when we have detected the neutrino flux from that fusion :eye-poppi!
• Idiocy of "We see bunnies in the clouds" logic. Plasma experiments modeling the Earth producing images that look likes solar activity (or galaxies or Saturn's rings or etc.) does not mean that solar activity (or galaxies or Saturn's rings or etc.) are that plasma activity.

Trying to 'model' something that is physically impossible is a waste of time.

Trying to 'model' something that cannot explain the total lack of evidence that would easily be seen for it is a waste of time.

Trying to replace a model that is accepted science, with shed loads of evidence in favour of it, is a waste of time.

And it seems to me they had $2m to spend on this. How much to publish in a respectable, peer-reviewed journal?

How much to lay out their reasons for doing this experiment in the first place? In other words, what is wrong with the current model that this 'model' can explain, whilst still explaining all the things that the current model does, with evidence to back it up?

Have a trawl through the real scientific literature. Look for 'alternative solar models.' There aren't any. For good reasons. So, how about they lay out this model, with the requisite maths, science and observations, to show that this is nothing more than an exercise in p!ssing money up a wall?

If Monty is such a good and open chap, maybe he'll respond to an email from an EUist?

Ask him what he thinks of the detected neutrinos. Which are of the requisite number to explain a Sun that is powered by nuclear fusion in its core.

Ask him about the energy spectrum of those neutrinos, which confirm that it is most definitely from p-p chain fusion. What are his explanations for those observations, which can easily be found in the scientific literature?

How does he explain the make-up and behaviour of the solar wind, using any sort of electric sun 'model'?

Why does he think the astrophysical analogue of his mains supply, is missing from decades of observations?

How does he think any putative current is going to battle its way, undetected, past the outflowing solar wind, and the associated Interplanetary Magnetic Field?

Those are just a few things that any competent peer reviewer would want to know on receipt of any SAFIRE 'paper'.

Which would be why we see no such papers. And never will.

Irrelevant video from Sol88. The fact remains that in the last 7 years the insane SAFIRE project has not published any relevant papers and the place "results" are announces are conferences held by Sol88's demented cult.
The video is an hour long video by someone who had a previous video looking at a video from the insane SAFIRE project and reports on a conversation with the cranks. The first ~7 minutes are a summary.

• He talked to "Monty" (the deluded crank who thinks the Sun is not fusion powered) for 2 hours.
  I wonder if we are going to get more delusions. Maybe Monty is the source for the $$$ insanity?
• He mentions "a fundamental change to how plasmas physics works" idea he got from the conversation.
  That suggests a Monty delusion because the project is standard plasma physics. The ignorance or fantasies of SAFIRE researchers does not mean then new physic is needed. Remember they have to be abysmally ignorant about solar physics to even start the project!
• Parrots a Monty? lie of verifying the EU model.
  No publication = no verification.
  There is no EU model to verify just fairy stories.
  There is the SAFIRE insanity of making the Sun into a white dwarf star, etc.
• Emphasizes that this is not a scientific research project!
  It is a company that is looking for investors which is where $$$ comes in. "power generation ... transmutation" words to be acceptable to anyone.
• "fusion without smashing atoms together" but they do not call it fusion.
  We have deluded electric sun cranks becoming "cold fusion" scammers :eek:!
• The narrator states a "current crisis in the peer review process" fantasy.
  There is a reproduction issue in softer sciences than physics, e.g. psychology.

'See The Pattern' looks like a YouTube electric universe crank.
"LIGO'S Big Lie". Ignorance about questions being raised if LIGO has detected anything. The Danish paper was about the first detection. The Danish was found to be in error by 2 subsequent papers: No more doubts: Two independent studies confirm LIGO’s Nobel discovery. Argument from incredibility about the neutron star merger detection. The neutron star merger was confirmed visually! 'See The Pattern' promises videos about "problems" with gravity ending with "ether" nonsense.
"Plasmoid Quasar" electric universe stupidity from the crank Eric Lerner blindly repeated their and in a couple of other video.
"Alfven Galactic Circuit" looks like a short lie about Hannes Alfvén. More likely to be parroted electric universe fantasies.
"Mysterious Black Hole VINDICATES Halton Arp!" is very ignorant. Halton Arp did not write about black hole. His mistaken ideas were about quasars. NGC 3147 has a central black hole with a thin disk which is not expected with current models. 'See The Pattern' spouts electric universe Kool-Aid. Halton Arp did not believe in that idiocy :eek:!

Sol88's persistent insanity in this question is that everyone knows the Sun is plasma that acts as neural gas on scales above the Debye length (10^-11 meters at the core to 10 meters in the solar wind). We use the gas laws because the Sun is a gas over scales of meters. It is an accurate approximation for first year astronomy text books.
