Greene's appearance at the Wilson County trump day dinner is routine? People paying $1,000 to attend an hour long private reception with a freshman member of Congress? The whole point seems to be, it is NOT routine. In Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's first three months in Congress in 2019 she fund-raised $728,000. Greene raised over four times that amount.
Political sources usually estimate during their two-year term members of Congress need to raise about $2 million for their reelection. Greene's on track to raise about twelve times that much. Like we used to say in the 1990s, 'Do the math.' ;) |

I know the priced quoted for MTG's most recent appreance are par for the course for a fundraiser in both parties. Oh, I think MTG is a grifter alright, and a lot of the money she raises will end up in her private pocket, but I can't be outraged by the specific prices quoted. |

But she's wrong when she says they can't be convinced they're a victim: work place shootings, school shootings, domestic partner shootings are usually by people who are convinced they're victims of some gross wrong. I wonder how many "Business owners & gun owners" who don't need to rely on the government availed themselves of the Paycheck Protection Program, the COVID-19 EIDL, the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, the SBA debt relief, and/or unemployment insurance this last year? |

But then, irrationality is the prime motivator in the conservative mindset and outlook. |

When my grandmother committed suicide, guess what she used? Yep, her own gun. And that was after having shot and killed her husband during a domestic quarrel when she'd been drinking. If no gun had been in the house.... My mother's cousin's son shot and killed his estranged wife with his own gun. A friend's cousin killed herself with her own gun. I've yet to know anyone who had to protect themselves from a stranger with a gun. |

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2759797/ For those who consider the link TL;DR, here are the results and conclusions 1. Individuals who were in possession of a gun were 4.46 times more likely to be shot in an assault than those not in possession. 2. Individuals who were in possession of a gun were 4.23 times more likely to be fatally shot in an assault. In assaults where the victim had at least some chance to resist 3. Individuals who were in possession of a gun were 5.45 times more likely to be shot. When we only considered independent variables that most strongly affected our models, smaller but correspondingly significant adjusted odds ratios were noted. In these reduced models 4. Individuals who were in possession of a gun were 2.55 times more likely to be shot in an assault than those not in possession. 5. Individuals who were in possession of a gun were also 3.54 times more likely to be fatally shot in an assault. In assaults where the victim had at least some chance to resist 6. Individuals who were in possession of a gun were 2.92 times more likely to be shot. |

NFL officials understand that, and are concerned about players who are refusing to be vaccinated. Last season the NFL did have a problem with players testing positive. Below is a news story that appeared in Sporting News last October, Quote:

Gohmert had better watch out. That's MTG coming up fast to take the title of Most Stupid Person in Congress.

This is the same argument that one of the protestors demonstrating with Ricky Shroder said, mentioned in the Politics and Coronavirus thread. Basically "Vaccines are for the weak. Our superiority will protect us." |

I don't see that much of a difference. The ones that are paying for MTG rubber chicken dinners are agreeing that "OH MY GOD THE IMMIGRANTS AND COMMUNISTS ARE COMING THE ELECTION WAS STOLEN" etc. |

A lot of people who buy guns 'for personal protection' just assume that they will be ready and willing to use it when the crunch is on, but actually shooting another human being doesn't come as easily in real life as it does on TV. That's why it takes all that training by the army to turn high school grads into killers. OTOH, the people who attack them with a gun or take theirs away from them are likely not as squeamish or hesitant. It isn't about just having a gun, a lot depends on who's most willing to use theirs first. |
Also the ability to use it effectively if they do use it.
There is a reason the US army in WW2 replaced the pistol with a carbine rifle for none combat troops like drivers, MPs, Signalmen etc. To use a pistol effectively takes training and practice. |

http://www.internationalskeptics.com...78a20423c9.jpg Once again, historically ignorant Trumper claiming 'ownership' of Lincoln and Juneteenth's cause for celebration for the Republicans while damning the "racist Southern Democrats" for slavery. I bet Cle4life's head would explode from the cognitive dissonance if historians explained to him where he's gone wrong there. Or he'd just put his fingers in his ears and sing La la la la la to himself. |

In a CNN interview with MTG she says she'd like to serve on Pelosi's select committee investigation into the Jan. 6 insurrection (:yikes:) and would accept that the FBI wasn't involved in it if they "show proof" they weren't. She says there were "all kinds of people" at the "riot" with some wearing black clothes and some red hats. The "wearing black" is a not so subtle allusion to Antifa.
The beginning of the video is Rep Mo Brooks running away from Jim Acosta. He won't talk to CNN because it won't be honest about what he says and "lies" all the time. I know........ https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/26/polit...tee/index.html |

This is the problem dealing with conspiracy theorists. Greene doesn't expect she should have to show proof that the FBI WAS involved. No, of course not. That's not how this works. The Bureau should have to show proof they WEREN'T involved. What would Greene like? A sworn and notarized affidavit from all 35,000 FBI agents and staff affirming, "I was not involved in any manner, shape or form, etc." And what is she suggesting? That the FBI -- the FBI? -- had undercover agents infiltrate the crowd leaving the trump rally that morning and then 'stage' the invasion of the Capitol Building? For what purpose? To 'discredit' donald trump and his supporters? Heck, even Marj Greene isn't crazy enough to come right out and say that, but that's what this is about, correct? Greene also brings up the issue that some of those jailed on January 6th charges are being held in solitary confinement in the DC Corrections Center. What has Greene been doing about it? Anything? Ironically, Senator Elizabeth Warren is also concerned and has probably done more to convey those concerns to the appropriate officials than MTG ever has or ever will. Below are comments Warren made to the news media over two months ago. Quote:

Some of this begins to seem like political theater. Making accusations that the accusers KNOW are not true because it allows them to 1) avoid a serious discussion, 2) they chortle that parroting this kind of nonsense is a way to "own the libs," and 3) it feels so good. I read some comments like that by some on-line right-wing dingbat yesterday. She admitted to having recently "made up two stories" -- I stopped reading before finding out what those stories were -- because by doing so she "owned the libs." It's like high school all over again. :( |

Marj was at Wellington Ohio last night to help trump kick off his revenge tour. At the rally Greene blasted AOC as "the little communist from New York City." When the crowd began to chant 'lock her up' Greene responded, "Right. Yeah, lock her up too, that’s a good idea."
