Scientific American endorses Biden: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...-to-back-biden

Quote:

In a break with its 175-year tradition, the prestigious US magazine Scientific American has for the first time endorsed a candidate in a US presidential election – the Democratic party nominee, Joe Biden.

The magazine has taken the line because, it says, “Donald Trump has badly damaged the US and its people – because he rejects evidence and science.”

I saw bits of the Town Hall -- this may be the first time that Trump faced a truly diverse crowd and questions rather than supporters (or reporters). He seemed a bit put out that he wasn't getting applause and cheers for his regular spew.

It's less than two weeks until the debate with Biden. I'm increasingly thinking there will suddenly be a reason for Trump not to show up.

NewsThump: Presidential motorcade to be replaced with clown car

From 2017, but just as relevant today.
Except today, I'm leaning less towards clown car and more towards some mafioso/banana republic outfit.

A convoy of Toyota pickups with machine gunners on the back for escort vehicles would better fit his current image as wannabe-Banana Republic dictator. This motorcade would escort the President's vehicle, a vintage black vehicle reminiscent of 40's mafia godfathers. Something like this.

The contrast might be somewhat jarring, so maybe paint it white or spray paint some logo onto it so as to better match the pickups.

No college football is a religion in parts of the country and if you put a gun to my head and asked how sarcastic I'm being I'm not 100% sure I'd have an answer.

If you don't think that's a good thing and a step in the right direction then I don't know what to say. A lot of our political maneuvering in the middle east is for profit, but also as a deterrent to keep Israel from getting gang banged by all the Arab nations

Israelis have been holidaying in Egypt for decades.

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson : Here's the target area.
Gerou : That's Minnesota, sir.
President Thomas 'Tug' Benson : Damn it, man, that's the genius of my plan. Why go over there to fight? We can do it right here at home, and get in some good fishing while we're at it.
Gerou : Sir, the enemy is over there.
President Thomas 'Tug' Benson : Then we'll fly them over here. Their families too. We'll teach them to skate... Do I have to think of everything?

Laura Ingrahm on Fox News called it an "ambush."

Now, aside from the idiocy of being "ambushed" by questions from people (as someone on Twitter responded, there weren't even any questions from any family members!), it does reflect the fact that he even she recognizes that it was a disaster. The "ambush" is an excuse for bad performance.

Trump voluntarily agreed to answer questions at a televised event, and the attendees ambushed him with questions!?! The nerve!!! Totally unexpected!

Setting aside that there's no rule against ambushing presidents with questions, if he and his staff didn't expect those questions, they are even dumber than I thought they were. My only disappointment was that the people in the town hall didn't ask him an unexpected questions.

He's probably trying to talk about spontaneous combustion, at least as best as his scatterbrained mentality can cobble together. The bits and pieces are there, or alluded to, decomposition and material piling up but mashed together in a cargo cult kind of way, making it devoid of any substance. So spontaneous combustion becomes a kind of spontaneous exploding, in his feeble minded misunderstanding.

Americans, if you are good and vote for Trump, you will get some healthcare on Nov. 5th.
But if you vote for Biden, Trump will send out his Death Panels.

Oh come on, how much practice do you need for some stream of consciousness

I would love for Wallace to bring two bicycles to the debate and challenge the two candidates to a race, though :D .

That's been part of the problem with most Republicans the last decade or so. They've collectively made the great mistake of believing their own propaganda.

Propaganda like "Dem Leftists want to destroy America!" is all fun and games when all we're talking about is what an obscure tax rate should be, but now that they actually believe that line, we're at a point where they've politicized the response to the pandemic, because they can't bring themselves to admit that the Democratic governors are honestly interested in promoting the health and well being of their constituents.
