^^ This. I have a 1 gallon gas can for the lawn mower, also.

Anyway, if a picture is worth a thousand words, the only thing this picture tells us is how much someone paid for a gallon of gas. Which, apparently, is 50 cents a gallon less than at my local station.

Apparently, MTG doesn't like electric vehicles, and Pete Buttigieg needs to stay out of her daughter's bathroom:

The possibility someone came to the station with a one gallon can to get gas to cut the grass is beyond her grasp.

That's a problem: emptyg never knows what she's talking about.

I've never heard anyone say this but, adjusted for inflation (7+%), it's not actually higher than the past record. Not like that makes it any better, mind you.

Norman Alexander 27th March 2022 07:09 PM

It's still not at the record set in July 2008: $5.37 (adjusted for inflation). But even then, it was obviously Democrat Republican President Biden's Shrub's fault.

Quote:

Adjusted for inflation the real cost of a gallon of gas from July 2008 shoots up to $5.37 in today's dollars—well above the current cost of $4.318 per gallon.

I know this. You know this. Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knows this. But that lets the GOP base out; they'll continue to believe the high gas prices are Biden's/Democrats' fault while believing Trump/Republicans will put everything to right and gas will fall to $1.00 a gallon.

Jim_MDP 27th March 2022 08:45 PM

Can't find it in my phone history but today I saw an article with map graphic (WaPo?) showing the price vs average monthly wage at ~1.5% in the US; a tad higher in Canada; ~ 2 in Gb; 3 to 5 in most of the western EU; much of the third world around 15 to 20 percent and some of the N African middle east hitting the top at... 39 percent

Yeah .. I'm not really impressed by Americans complaining about four dollar gallons of gasoline. :(

Does it impact industry and especially freight companies? Yes, absolutely.
But we all should know where the profits are going. There's only one sector gouging the prices, in the US at least, and it's the death of a thousand cuts... a fraction of a cent extra means millions in net gain. What is a ~15% jump doing for the oil companies?

Correct.

According to Global Petrol Prices, over the past four months from December 13 to March 14, the price of a litre of gasoline in Canada ranged from a low of $C 1.37/litre ($US 5.72/US gallon) in Nova Scotia to a high of $C 2.07/litre ($US 6.28/US gallon) In Québec, at today's exchange rate. Here in Winnipeg it's about $1.73/litre ($US 5.25/US gallon.)

Of course in here "mind" it's Biden. Nevermind the fact that most of the money supply expansion driving current inflation came in May 2020 in order to Prop up Trump's economic numbers.

I wonder why they would post a picture of the pump instead of the 2 foot high numbers on the sign out front of most gas stations stating the price per gallon.

Is this some QAnon code?

A handy dandy tweet showing how awful life under Biden is. That tweet was then sent to MTG who swallows it faster than a two-bit hooker.

Because of Biden, hookers now cost six bits!

MTG showed her economic skill in wanting to kick Hollywood film companies out of Georgia because of their "corrupting" influence; there by depriving the state of thousands of jobs and million of dollars that filming in Georgia has brought to the state.

She stands as an example to all, gobbling the cake of the charitable public despite forsaking her salary for principle. Why can't they all?

Your post started me wondering.

If someone mocked up a GOP letterhead and faxed something to MTG, would she tweet about it without checking it?

“For immediate release:
GOP guarantees that gas prices will be negative under its administration. Gas stations will pay you money when you fill your tank. Vote Republican.”

With Georgia closing in on California for number of feature films per year, the total yearly impact may be as high as $9 billion. With a gross state production in the neighborhood of $600 billion, Georgia might have more than one percent of its economy related to the film/TV industry.

Unconfirmed figures, but the impact must be at least in the hundreds of millions.

Old school conservatism vs new right wingers.

Establishing Georgia as a scab-friendly alternative to Hollywood is exactly the kind of thing conservatives from even a decade ago would have been extremely happy with. Race to the bottom economics has been the foundation of Southern politics for a long, long time.

Now the culture war BS trumps all other concerns. A boon for unionized film workers I suppose.

I see your point. The GOP would say to her “WTF is wrong with you? How could you think something that stupid could happen?” However the voters would lap it up and send donations.

Wait. I just realized that the GOP would love that. When questioned about it, They would say “That’s just Marjorie being Marjorie.” Heck, they could feed her all kinds of BS and not lose any voters.
-GOP plans to lower taxes on conservatives and give military personnel the largest raise in 30 years
-GOP plans to pass laws to limit the influence of radical left wing politics at the national, state, and local level.
-GOP plans to pass law saying only straight Christians can run for congress or be appointed to SCOTUS.

And if Dems complain, they’ll say, “the America-hating DemoRats say we can’t even talk about limiting Congress to straight Christians. “

Perhaps something not quite as outrageous. Dollar a gallon, perhaps.
But as someone already noted, lots of people would gladly vote, without thinking.

Perhaps something that would turn off groups of voters, like evangelists.

Did you forget to account for the exchange rate? As of this writing, $NZ 1.00 = $US 0.693. I compute $NZ 2.70/litre = $US 7.082/US gallon. It's still a lot higher than Canada, though.

I'd say arguing with the survivor of a school shooting (Hogg) the way she did (read the entire exchange) brings her down a few more levels. Great behavior for a "leader". She's really someone for the kids to look up to.

When I was a liberal hater I used to think AOC was sooo bad! How far we have fallen since then!

Arguing for armed security in every school so that we can all have our guns...I just can't believe what is considered "okay" in this country for so many people. I can't put into words how infuriating it is.

It just goes to show how incredibly irrational their thinking is. Instead of reducing the amount of guns, outlawing assault-style weapons, increasing back ground checks, closing gun purchasing loopholes, etc. let's just have our teachers packing heat so they can fight off the sickos who got ahold of those guns in the first place. What next? Instead of a coffee mug, the teacher gets a new holster or bullets wrapped in pretty paper at the end of the school year?
