We are used to him not being able to work close with them because that was hindered by all the impeachment proceedings. But it's all back to normal now. He can work closely with them just as Obama did with Holder. Trump is the boss, right? If DOJ decide who gets the money, then Trump has influence there. If goes direct from Congress, then he does not. I believe he also decides who gets the military surplus toys too. Not sure. I havent researched it in some thorough way, so perhaps you can provide more guidance on how it works. eta: for those not familiar, the Dept of Justice is part of the Executive Branch of the US govt. Trump is the head of that branch - the other 2 being legislative (congress) and judicial (courts) |
I was agreeing with you. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. Interjections with knee jerk reactions don’t help.

Even though the person I respond to might know how our branches work, I should always provide some base facts so it is clearer for my fellow Americans (The dern furreners on here seem to know more about it than the locals much of the time!:p). I still learn interesting facts about it all the time. People can blame Trump for a lot of things, but it's hard to say he didn't inspire people to be more aware and educated about politics! |

Nancy Pelosi says she got “set up” by a Beauty Parlor owner. Maybe the Beauty Parlor owner should be running the House of Representatives instead of Crazy Nancy? Crazy Nancy Pelosi said she was “set up” by the beauty parlor owner when she improperly had the salon opened (and didn’t wear a MASK!). Does anyone want a Speaker of the House who can be so easily SET UP? |

1. Pelosi didn't have the shop opened. It was open. 2. According to the stylist who did her hair, not only was the shop already open when Pelosi went in, but it's been open (illegally) since April and the owner has been "forcing"* stylists to come in so she can get paid. 3. Mocking Pelosi for being easy to set up is just dumb. If you make an appointment with a business and they position cameras in order to catch you doing something wrong with the explicit (they accepted the appointment) consent of that business, you can't defend against that. 4. Seriously, how can a business owner blame a customer for being inside their business when that business owner always has the option not to allow customers inside? Don't get me wrong. Pelosi acted stupidly and the day she leaves Congress will be a great one (she is a truly awful leader of both the House and her party) but going after her for getting her hair done is insanity, especially since female Democrats get slammed all the time by Republicans (and jerks in general) for their appearance. *Presumably, "forcing" in this case means telling the people who work in her shop that if they don't come in they'll lose their spots and she'll find others to take over. |

Trump wants to claim the check for double voting is at the polling place when it is later when the ballots are checked and counted. I said earlier neither vote would count but I think they would toss the absentee ballot if you already voted in person and count the in-person one. |
The following Tweet has disappeared from trump's stream.

Do you dislike Pelosi because she is effective? |

I think it would be a good “President Trump urged all North Carolinians to vote twice. I say, ‘please do not vote twice until you see President Trump do it himself.‘ If he’s afraid to do it, then you shouldn’t either.” |

As for the mask issue, she shouldn’t ever enter a closed space without a mask on. She should also be aware of and following local COVID restrictions which would mean not being inside a salon at all. |
Are you aware of local COVID restrictions that do not precluding being inside a salon? Trump is full of it when he says salons were not open at that time.

I’m going to Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the home of the late, great Arnold Palmer - There was nobody like him. I got to know Arnold well, played golf with him, and miss him. See you tonight in Latrobe! |

Hearing that Iran is looking to execute a great and popular wrestling star, 27-year-old Navid Afkarai, whose sole act was an anti-government demonstration on the streets. They were protesting the “country’s worsening economic situation and inflation”... ...To the leaders of Iran, I would greatly appreciate if you would spare this young man’s life, and not execute him. Thank you! @UFC @DanaWhite @FoxNews |

I think that's just a ridiculously high bar. We would have all loved to have seen Trump impeached. But you can see that Pelosi knew McConnell would see to it it was blocked in the Senate. So again, your bar is absurdly high. Disdainful of her own? You mean when she told the newbies (including OAC) that their idealism was misplaced and they needed to slow it down? I thought Pelosi was right and I love OAC. |

Newsom said salons in SF County could open. The city mayor said no, then said they could see clients outside. The salons all complained and said it was impossible. The mayor was very confusing and the rules became unclear. In the meantime the salon Pelosi went to had been seeing clients illegally "for months". And the mayor relented and said the salons could open a day (or so) after Pelosi had her hair done. Trump, Fox News, Tucker Carlson and the whole right-wing blogosphere et al are indeed full of it. |

The Republicans go on and on using "progressive" as a pejorative but the simple truth is that the Democratic party is barely liberal and progressive is a pipe dream. |

I also perused dozens of articles this morning to sort this out. Quote:

My summary of what I found: Turns out the stylist specifically asked the owner of the salon, Erica Kious, if it was OK. That's the owner who says she knew nothing about it. Also turns out the salon has been seeing clients in violation of the shutdown for months. Kious took the footage to Fox news because she wanted to use it to complain about the shutdown. No coincidence she went there and later to an interview with Tucker Carlson. And Pelosi only had her mask off because her hair was shampooed. The footage we don't see showed Pelosi put the mask back on for the styling. Also Republican Kious has a gofundme set up by another Republican, her friend, and the fund already has more than $40K in it. EastBayTimes I sifted through a lot of sources and found more corroborating information as well. Kious owns two more salons in the Bay area and one in Fresno so take her crocodile tears with a grain of salt. James O'Keefe would be proud. |
