It doesn't matter that these aren't new jobs, just a fraction of the lost jobs returning, or that thousands of other jobs are being lost in other sectors, President Trump has that headline figure to boast about and for the right wing media to broadcast. :mad:

And as has been pointed out repeatedly, this is not trump's prerogative.

Maybe "more Americans unemployed" is better just in case increases in the size of the labour force, or some other statistical anomaly mean that there were fewer Americans working on the last day he was Veep.

In some states, absentee voters are removed from the poll book when it’s generated for Election Day. If you get there and have already voted absentee, you shouldn’t be able to vote again. If there’s a mixup, you can insist on a provisional ballot though.

As for cutting some Fed funds to cities....

There are some Federal Dollars that come as grants from the DOJ. Police dept's need to apply for them.

The reason for the funding to help fund hiring, training, community services, and mental help for police forces. It including 'anti-bias' training.

If some police departments are cutting their budgets (or trying to defund altogether) in response to the protesters, then they hardly need this Federal funding anymore, right?

Wisconsin just received a grant for $41M.

This is a Department thing but the funds are given as incentives to improve specific things. If funds are not used/needed for that purpose, then of course they will not be granted. (Trump cant decide on his own!)

To speak for where I am, if you *apply* for a mail in ballot, you cannot then vote in person, though a provisional ballot can be used.

And training in killology because the police are not killing often enough.

It's behind a paywall, but, just looking at the date of early 2017 and referencing events from several months earlier in the first few lines (which I could see), that grant and those courses would have been under the oversight of AG Holder, under Obama.

I do not understand how this relates to my post about FUNDING.
My post was in relation to Federal funding for specific training- relating to 'community policing'. This is more stuff like 'ride alongs' and visits to 'Boys & Girls Club" bias training, mental breaks, etc...

What does this class, by this person, have to do with Trump's letter to possibly cut Federal funds?

A knee jerk reaction I have to the claims that training is any kind of solution to the problem of police violence. Unless that is that the police are not violent enough.

Which has nothing to do with whether it is or isn’t Trumps prerogative to cut federal funding to local police.

Funding per legislation come under the purview of the DOJ, then the boss of the DOJ is Trump.

We are used to him not being able to work close with them because that was hindered by all the impeachment proceedings. But it's all back to normal now.
He can work closely with them just as Obama did with Holder.

Trump is the boss, right? If DOJ decide who gets the money, then Trump has influence there. If goes direct from Congress, then he does not. I believe he also decides who gets the military surplus toys too. Not sure.

I havent researched it in some thorough way, so perhaps you can provide more guidance on how it works.

eta: for those not familiar, the Dept of Justice is part of the Executive Branch of the US govt. Trump is the head of that branch - the other 2 being legislative (congress) and judicial (courts)

Cool. No prob. My post provides some explanation anyway.
Even though the person I respond to might know how our branches work, I should always provide some base facts so it is clearer for my fellow Americans (The dern furreners on here seem to know more about it than the locals much of the time!:p).
I still learn interesting facts about it all the time.
People can blame Trump for a lot of things, but it's hard to say he didn't inspire people to be more aware and educated about politics!

Crazy Nancy Pelosi said she was “set up” by the beauty parlor owner when she improperly had the salon opened (and didn’t wear a MASK!). Does anyone want a Speaker of the House who can be so easily SET UP?

It's like everything he says has to include a giant lie. He could easily continue mocking Pelosi for appearing on camera in a public place without a mask, but he has to double down with lies to make it seem even worse.

1. Pelosi didn't have the shop opened. It was open.
2. According to the stylist who did her hair, not only was the shop already open when Pelosi went in, but it's been open (illegally) since April and the owner has been "forcing"* stylists to come in so she can get paid.
3. Mocking Pelosi for being easy to set up is just dumb. If you make an appointment with a business and they position cameras in order to catch you doing something wrong with the explicit (they accepted the appointment) consent of that business, you can't defend against that.
4. Seriously, how can a business owner blame a customer for being inside their business when that business owner always has the option not to allow customers inside?

Don't get me wrong. Pelosi acted stupidly and the day she leaves Congress will be a great one (she is a truly awful leader of both the House and her party) but going after her for getting her hair done is insanity, especially since female Democrats get slammed all the time by Republicans (and jerks in general) for their appearance.

*Presumably, "forcing" in this case means telling the people who work in her shop that if they don't come in they'll lose their spots and she'll find others to take over.

Trump wants to claim the check for double voting is at the polling place when it is later when the ballots are checked and counted.

I said earlier neither vote would count but I think they would toss the absentee ballot if you already voted in person and count the in-person one.

She only had her mask off because it was off while she got her hair shampooed. I believe that was outdoors. You can see she entered the salon with wet hair. She put it back on for the styling. That part of the video exists. Of course Kious or Fox simply hid that part.
