Points taken, though one may argue that some lack of cognitive concentration must have been evidenced before, and thus by, the head/sphincter intercourse.

I think they should make a point of it, but in their reporting they should be clear that:
  • Pretty much anyone in any kind of position of prominence can nominate someone for a Nobel Prize
  • Literally hundreds of people are nominated every year
  • President Trump's nomination came from a far-right politician who was also responsible for one of his other nominations

In other words, President Trump is pathetic to get so excited over such a minor "honour".

President Trump is also really upset at the lying liberal media for not reporting about the great honor he once received when his mother told him he was a very handsome boy.

Okay, let's take a step back here are really appreciate the absurdity of this re-tweet.

First off, it's a classic Conspiracy Theory echo chamber. Google the key phrases, and the only places you can find anything about it is on CT sites, that all reference back to each other. Google the name of the "whistle blower", and all you find is the same sorts of links.

So, we have the president of the United States re-tweeting classic CT bull ****. Not too surprising, he's done it before.

But consider this - if the CIA had information about this, which is implied by citing a "CIA Whistle Blower" as your source - why can't the freaking president of the United States provide a better link to the evidence than all the random CT echo sites?

Trump has the authority to find out the truth of what the CIA knows about this, and to declassify it in its entirety if he so chooses.

And yet, he chooses to re-tweet the typical CT bull ****.

As bad as it was having Colin Powell lie to the UN to justify the war in Iraq, imagine how much worse it would have been if Bush had just linked to a Truther site to justify the war.

That's literally the world we're living in now.

Classic President Trump - cutting through the hidebound Washington bureaucracy and finding a way to deliver first rate intelligence at no cost to the American taxpayer.

That's the kind of blue-sky thinking and business genius that the American electorate wanted when they gave him the biggest election victory (if illegal votes are discounted) and largest inauguration crowd in history.

The US can happily lay off everyone in Langley and instead rely on Qanon to meet the US' intelligence needs.

He never quite specified, only speaking of multiple nominations. The inference being, based on the fact that he only referenced his middle east window dressing, that all were for the peace prize. Not that I wouldn't put it past Trump try to lay claim to any of the other, like economics in particular. Heck, given what he now thinks he knows about the corona virus, the medicine or chemistry might be in his sights for next year.

Naturally, I don't recall him even mentioning who the committee announced the peace prize award would go to 4 days ago.

https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/pe...press-release/

While apparently still bemoaning the lack of press coverage of his allegedly illegible nomination(s) just yesterday.

Is that "aid" or dollars? For example, a military installation or NASA facility can bring in a lot of money but I wouldn't call itm "aid".

That's a very good point. I think it was aid; the article I got it from had both ways of looking at the data. I'll see if I can find it again.

ETA: I think it's funding. But there is high correlation between funding and "aid".

The Atlantic article:
https://www.theatlantic.com/business...takers/361668/

Which refers back to the WalletHum article; the methodology is outlined here.
https://wallethub.com/edu/states-mos...vernment/2700/

However, their methodology is hard to understand. This article shows (probably more intuitively) that California gets the most total federal dollars.

Why isn’t more being done to torque up President Trump?!11!!!?

“Oh, you got three this year, Mr. President? What a coincidence, Obama got three nominations this year as well.”

Or

“President Obama had 15 nominations, but if you want to get excited by three of them then have at it, Mr. President.”

Or

“If we guarantee that Obama won’t attend, will you go to the dedication of monument for the COVID 19 victims? It will include a statue of you, Mr. President. There is even talk of putting it on the White House grounds.”

Twitter is suppressing the free speech of Black Trump supporters!

Well, sort of. Not really.

From: CBC
Twitter said on Tuesday it had suspended a number of accounts purportedly owned by Black supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump and his re-election campaign, saying the accounts broke rules on spam and platform manipulation.... A review by Reuters of some of the suspended accounts showed they often used images of real people that did not match their names and posted identical language in their messages...some of the accounts used photos of Black American men that had appeared in news articles. Some used identical images of Trump as their header image.

The article didn't give any sort of indication about who was behind it. (Given past activities by the Russians, it wouldn't be surprising if they were behind it, although I am sure there are other pro-Trump activists who could have done it too.

There's a years=long habit of white supremacists using stock images to pose as black people on social media - usually complete with painfully bad imitations of AAVE. Typically, they manage to sucker other white supremacists, like the folks at Fox News or Breitbart. Non-US (usually Russian) bot farms got in on it later.

I think that I poked at that around the time the article came out, as it was, but yeah, Fox has literally argued in court that their viewers don't take them seriously, therefore they should not bear any liability for harmful lies and slander. Repeatedly, I think.

What's worse is that the argument works.

Quote:

In sum, the Fox News lawyers mocked the legal case made by McDougal's legal team. She alleged "a reasonable viewer of ordinary intelligence listening or watching the show ... would conclude that [she] is a criminal who extorted Trump for money" and that "the statements about [her] were fact."

"Context makes plain," Fox's lawyers wrote, "that the reasonable viewer would do no such thing."

The judge fully agreed.
Incidentally, though, if you ever hear someone praise Carlson, you can point out that Fox has literally called them gullible idiots in court, now.

Way back on an episode of the Daily Show Jon Stewart broke down how Fox News "works."

They have their "opinion" shows just make stuff up to stir up controversy and then have their "news" report on the stuff people are talking about. It's basically journalistic push polling.

One of the big examples that was brought up at the time:

Original News Story: One class in one school sang a song about historically significant African-Americans, which included a verse about President Obama.

Later Opinion Piece: Ranting about children being forced to sing the praises of President Obama, with comparisons to North Korea.

Still Later News Story: People are outraged about reports of children being forced to sing songs praising President Obama.

JoeMorgue 14th October 2020 06:19 AM

Yeah Fox News really perfected the whole "People want answers on the 'Senator Johnson punches kittens' rumor. Why won't Senator Johnson answer these question?" when they are the ones who started the rumor that Senator Johnson punches kit routine.

JoeMorgue 14th October 2020 06:54 AM

Fox News also was, ironically, the first network to really realize "The Internet Exists" as a way to justify their outrage. Because it's the internet and if you can imagine an opinion out there that if it existed would make your blood boil, you can find one without too much effort.

"People are outraged over reports that President Obama is going take our guns to fund abortions!" where "people" is one anonymous Twitter troll.

Truth is, I think these conservatives are just better people than me.

If someone would try to belittle me with "blood coming out of my wherever", I wouldn't give this person any consideration for a very long time.
