Too bad all those heroic, armed police stood safely out of range for over an hour.

Apathia 27th May 2022 04:14 PM

If the shooters are armed with AR-15s, the teachers should have better.
How about some grenades and a missile launcher?

Settling disputes on the playground would be a snap.:wackytwitcy:

eerok 27th May 2022 04:38 PM

Maybe Ukraine shouldn't get all the decommissioned howitzers if the US schools need some.

Stacyhs 29th May 2022 11:40 PM

First it was the 'gazpacho' police and now it's a 'peach tree dish':

Quote:

“MTG Live,” the streaming broadcast that airs on her social media page, Greene claimed that the government wants “surveillance on every part of your life,” including on when people are eating a cheeseburger.

“Which is very bad because Bill Gates wants you to eat this fake meat that grows in a peach tree dish so you’ll probably get a little zap inside your body that’ll say ‘No, don’t eat a real cheeseburger, you need to eat the fake burger,'” Greene said with conviction.

Fake meat? That would really be the pits!

MTG received over 3X the votes the Dem primary candidate got. Stupid must be catching in her district.

a) How many of her votes were NOT fraudulent?

b) Primary votes may not necessarily translate into election votes. It is just each side picking their gladiators, if I understand right.

c) Maybe some Dem voters voted for Marj as the GOP candidate so that she would be sure to be the winner. Because she is the easiest to thrash come the election. IOW, pick your own target.

She's in a profoundly "red" district. Any Republicans who aren't completely on board with her message and views (and the vast majority are) would still vote for her out of party loyalty.

Things like "peach tree dish" will come across to her supporters as her being "one of us without to much book-learnin'" and her critics as meanies who are part of the elite.

d expanding on b) Maybe the Democrats didn't need to vote in the primary. Doesn't mean they won't turn out in Nov.

Hopeful thinking, I know, but Georgia's demographics are changing.

Many politicos here in California repeatedly pronounce nuclear "new-kew-lar" which to my ear is even weirder than MTG's petridish with a "ch" stuck in there. What bugs me is her insane rants about the government and Gates out to know when and what you eat. That's the nuts part of MGT.

Again the Republicans need, nay must, rebrand "Being stupid and wrong" into something else because "Being stupid and wrong" is all they have left.

When an idiot maunders north.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Suggests Justin Trudeau's Gun Laws Invite Russian Invasion (vice.com)
Quote:

“Canada has an incredibly weak military & now with Trudeau’s gun grab, his people are left defenseless not only by a criminal attacker, but also defenseless against another country’s military invasion,” MTG wrote in tweet No. 3.

“This is a terrible violation of rights to innocent Canadians by their Gov.”

Canadian gun owners, many of whom are neither police nor military, do not have the same constitutional gun rights as Americans, who live in a different country, with a different constitution.
Of course the American plan for defence against a Russian invasion is a bunch of drunk rednecks waving their guns and hollerin'. Well, maybe in her corner of Georgia it is.

JoeMorgue 31st May 2022 06:32 PM

Yes she's an idiot.

.

Can we move on to how we create a world where her being an idiot in any way has any negative effect on her?

1) Marj who??

2) Mind yer own feckin' business, horse-face!

And in Canada where firearms have been restricted forever. I'm not sure why Trudeau had to sign a new restriction but it's not like firearms were completely legal until this new law in Canada. They weren't.

The problem with having the unquestioned loyalty of your supporters is that you promote idiots to positions of leadership with no hope of ever getting rid of them.
Republicans have spend decades making sure that only the most unqualified represent them.

It's quite clear that Marj is the prime example of "useful idiot", emphasis on idiot. As soon as she is no longer useful, she will be binned and burned in a flash.

Why do we keep getting told this (and variations on it) as if it's supposed to be comforting or is supported by recent history?

As already noted we got told the exact same thing about Trump and that didn't exactly pan out. I have zero reason to believe that old school Republicans A) can really control their fringes when they reach some arbitrary point of "no longer worth it" or B) want to.

I'm starting to get tired of the only optimism (not exactly the right word but close) being allowed is vague allusions to some undefined random point in the future where the evil and wrong will be forced to stop being evil and wrong by slightly less evil and wrong for no discernable reason by some vague unsupported idea that things just can't keep getting worse forever.

"No things can't get that bad. At some arbitrary point some force will magically start operating in the exact opposite way it always acts and fix it all." is nonsense.

Dangerous, violent, Post-fact conspiracy idiots like MTG are the Republican's future. Nobody knows that better than the Republican Old Guard. This mythology that they are going to pull the Ghost Army from LOTR on the Boeberts and the Greenes (and the much, much, much worse versions of them waiting in the wings) is suicidality naively laughable.

In her never ending race to the top of the headlines by diving down to the very bottom of the barrel, the ever wise MJT is now predicting that in about 150 years from now, there will not be any more hetrosexual people.

To wit:

https://news.yahoo.com/marjorie-tayl...ycsrp_catchall

Marjorie Taylor Greene groundlessly claims straight people face extinction within 150 years because of LGBTQ+ education

...

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene predicted that identifying as heterosexual will be a thing of the past within a period of less than 200 years thanks to LGBTQ-inclusive sex educators, who she called "trans terrorists."

"They just want you to think that all of a sudden the entire population is steadily turning gay or turning trans," said the Georgia representative, who sailed through her primary race to win the GOP nomination on May 24.

...

In a video stream, Greene said: "Just generation, generation ... probably in about four or five generations no-one will be straight any more. Everyone will be either gay, or trans, or nonconforming or whatever list of fifty of sixty options which there are."

...

Armitage72 1st June 2022 09:21 AM

I wonder if whoever writes her material is a Doctor Who and Torchwood fan. In the future era that Jack Harkness is from humans have reached the point that they're comfortable sleeping with whoever they find attractive, whether they're men, women, or insectoid aliens from another galaxy.

Yes, she's the complete package. Her latest tweet below.

(By the way she introduced the 'bill' she refers to in March 2021. Below right. Also, to no one's surprise, it was DOA. I think her motive for wanting to halt immigration during Biden's entire four year term was probably along the lines of, Biden really sucks! )

Brilliant.

Tourism brings in millions (if not billions) of dollars into the US economy. And she thinks it's a good thing if that is stopped.

Marjorie Taylor Greene says that Christian nationalism is nothing to fear because it's the only thing that can stop school shootings, crime, and sexual immorality, declaring that anyone who opposes it is a "domestic terrorist."

Oh, there's no comfort in the notion whatever. You and TGZ are quite correct: the "useful idiot" has gotten out of control, and made things infinitely worse.

It's just that the intention was to have a self-unaware bobble-heads like Trump, EmptyG and Boebert for The LeftTM to focus on, while plans nefarious were put under way quietly in the background.

The failure was that the bobble-heads started pointing out in public how great the plans nefarious were, and where they were, and what was coming next, and then they wouldn't shut the **** up. Take a look at Gohmert today. He's another.
