New here. All my life I have been a cynic, but I realize that it is far more useful to be a skeptic, so I am reading everything I need to make that transition.
I have joined a rationalists group, and I love their lectures/discussions, but they are not partiers. I would love to find a rational group of late night partiers. Because life is short. |
Hi Chevstriss!
http://www.internationalskeptics.com...6e8b167056.gif I hope you don't abandon cynicism altogether. I could use the company. |

Tamrin from Oz
G'day all, another here from Oz (Hunter Valley, NSW)
I'm a Freemason and I run a masonic forum (The Quarry Masonic Forum) where I have criteria of both credibility and civility. I'm proud to be associated with an institution that grew with the Age of Enlightenment and has, behind the rituals which may seem odd to non-masons, the rationalistic philosophy of that age (a large number of its early members were Fellows of the Royal Society). While my forum is selective and kept on track, I am frustrated that many on-line masonic discussions elsewhere are hijacked by Conspiracy Theorists, some of whom are masons and should know better. I look forward to your help in addressing some of their often bizzare theories and hope I can modestly contribute to discussions here. Yours truly, Philip Carter |
Welcome Tamrin and Chevstriss While you are wondering what to do next have a Glass of Goats milk and head on over to our BBQ.

Welcome all!
All I have to offer is cold homogenized cow's milk in a plastic bottle, and hot blueberry pop-tarts fortified with both natural and artificial ingredients. |
Sorry newbs. The bloody chef has burned the rabbit, again. So, will roo meat be okay this time?

Hello everyone, my name is Aran and I go by the username of mrmagnetoman88. First and foremost, I apologize for not introducing myself immediately upon signing up to this forum. My username was inspired by my fascination over the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. The main reason I've joined this forum is because I really love Science, particularly Physics. I think Science is a truly magnificent tool that is used to pursue the truth about our universe and scenarios that occur within it, debunk myths and establish facts. Apart from Science, I love working out, socializing and watching professional wrestling. I look forward to posting, responding, making friends, establishing a good relationship with them and enriching my knowledge of Science. Thanks!!

Mmmmmm, infinite pizza, count me in. Say, can we get that half meatball? Welcome everyone. |
Hiya all:)
Norwegian gal. Middle aged (yuck!) Started reading about chemtrails and almost fell of my chair of laughter! Then on the same forum the 9/11 conspiracies showed up. I found these ones almost as entertaining as the chemtrail ones. I work in ATC, and because of that I saw loads of flaws from the so-called "truthers". In addition I read this guy´s blog that were full of tails of him being harassed by the Norwegian police - they stole his bicycle seat so he couldn´t get to the post office, they "faked" construction in his building to keep him awake.... A plane with a red nose (Norwegian Airlines by the looks of his own "surveillance" photos) was spying on him. The more of this stories I read, the more curious (and full of laughter) I became. So I started to check out debunking sites, that I knew had better ways and a lot better vocabulary - especially ´cause most were English speaking and I am not (and way more partient!!) to tell these folks that they were wrong....dead wrong. And also in some cases - kinda nuts. Anyways; coming here and reading the post from you guys has thought me a lot - words, expressions and very plausible explanations. Thanks! Minne. |
Welcome minnemouse.
Whenever I start deluding myself into thinking no one could ever believe such nonsense; I take a gander at this site just to see how deep the rabbit hole of delusion can actually go. http://educate-yourself.org/cn/ Welcome everyone |

Newbie here. I'm 22 and a primary school teacher. I watched a TV series with James Randi when I was about 5/6 and recently re-watched it... the after much rummaging around (yes, I'm the type of person who uses the word rummaging in conjunction with anything technological), found myself here. So fairly new to the skepticism (though not to actually being skeptic).
Anyway, hello all! PS - What's up with the goats milk? |

Goat's milk is delicious and nutritious. Sometimes I'll pour myself two glasses of it and double-fist!
Welcome! |
Hello. I've been silently stalking you all for years. For reasons unknown to myself I have decided to start posting too. I'm Malfie and a devout Pastafarian. I hope to one day eradicate those IPU heretics.

Firstly, I believe that LightinDarkness is a Freemason who has played an important role in educating people her about Freemasonry. Secondly, I was in the Hunter Valley the weekend before last for my niece's wedding. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza. A lovely place. And welcome. |

Seriously - is it the water or something? You waded right into the AK threads while I'm over in Forum Community trying to draw some of them out of their tree fort and into the rest of the forums. I agree with much you said in The Thread From Hell. Where in HK? |

I'd love to live on Lamma - but I hate commuting and I put in ridiculous hours at work, so for me it would be gruesome. (I'm on one of those lah-di-dah expat contracts so don't have to worry that the rent would pay off the debt of several small banana republics - the company pays it.) Welcome aboard. We ever-so-rarely get a forumite passing through town and I think we have a couple of other members here, but they're very infrequent posters. I've always surmised that it's not the paucity of skeptics in Hong Kong nor even the prevalence of Woo,... it's that we're all too busy screwing each other out of money to be arsed with anything else. By the way, I'm an American. I just affect certain colonialisms so that I can get away with attrocious spelling. |
I'm a single, childless, godless Brit :)
Lamma is great but the commute can be a real pain. However, it looks like i may be moving to California soon. I'm hoping not until next year, but possibly as soon as next month! |
