Four Nations rugby?

Guess who's thrown her hat in the ring to run the NHS when the current head steps down?

If you guessed "Dido Harding", then you'd be right. Given what a right royal expensive ****-up track & trace was, if she gets the job it'll be pure corruption. It'd need an investigation by the anti-corruption tsar. Who is *checks notes* Dido Harding's husband.

I see the DUP has seen it's first resignations. Who knew Poots would be such a liability?
It seems my presentation in Belfast two-and-a-half years ago, that got be practically run out of town, erred on the side of optimism.

Civil service & diplomats are to refer to the UK as “one country” in future communications.

The ‘Union Unit’ under Boris Johnson’s direct command wants to ensure the end of the phrase “constituent countries” in future.

I think this was already on The Times website on Saturday evening.
I'm having trouble accessing it at the moment the moment though.

Also reports that officials have also been asked to stop using the phrase “devolved nations” and only use “devolved administrations”.

Seems to be the Welsh who have picked up on this news far more in the last few hours than the Scots, perhaps they already expect this kind of stuff.

Nothing the flag shaggers do surprises us anymore. Hopefully the Scottish Conservatives will change their name to something more fitting.

I wonder if they have been told to stop refering to England as a "country". Is that also doubleplus ungood?

IOW it's SOP

It's OK though, the chances of the Boris Boat seeing the light of day are vanishingly small. Which is not to say that his mates aren't going to benefit to the tune of tens or hundreds of millions of pounds it's just that they're not going to have to actually build a boat.

Captain_Swoop 9th June 2021 02:31 AM

There are a good number of Brexiteers that don't want the UK to be part of the WTO anyway.

Civil servants have been told to ensure that senior cabinet ministers to be provisioned with personalised army, police & transport uniforms when making public media appearances in these areas.

Thid is to transmit “authority & patriotism”.

Most of them can raid Johnson's dressing up box. Mark Francois has retired to the bathroom with a government credit card and an Action Man Accessory catalogue.

He managed to oust his own buffoon and now he has to come over here and humour ours

I think it'll be more telling him what reality is.

Any guesses what form of transport Boris used to get to Cornwall (part of mainland UK, for those unfamiliar), to talk about climate change?

Filippo Lippi 10th June 2021 01:46 PM

Amphibious landing craft?

All excellent ideas, and ones that mesh well with the personality of the Generalissimo.
Frankly I'm surprised that the "Leaky Lizzie" wasn't summoned as his personal transport.

The alliance between the US and the UK should be known as the "indestructible relationship", Boris Johnson has told the BBC after meeting US President Joe Biden for the first time.

He said he had "terrific" talks with Mr Biden, who has travelled to Cornwall for the G7 summit of world leaders.

Mr Johnson insisted the US president had not rebuked him over post-Brexit tensions in Northern Ireland.

However, Mr Biden is said to have "deep concern" over the situation.

This probably means we will be at war by the end of the month.

KDLarsen 11th June 2021 09:44 AM

You have to admire the brazenness of Johnson sometimes. Having just announced major cuts to foreign aid, that would see support for girls' education drop by £200 million, he goes to the G7 meeting to proudly announce that the UK will be donating £430 million to girls' education...

Not a 'perfect' talk?

Captain_Swoop 12th June 2021 03:12 AM

It is so obvious that Boris is way out of his depth at the G7.
Incoherent, bumbling and lacking in any substance or statesmanship.
It's embarrassing how far we have fallen as a world power, all because of Tory infighting, greed and elitism.

I've observed a lot of meetings that went along similar lines. Other countries turn up and send people that are on the ball and well prepared and the UK representative is some dithering public schoolboy posho type who is more interested in what's for lunch.

Then when nobody takes them seriously they blame the Europeans for hating the English.

It’s slowly emerging, but not on the BBC, oddly, that the USA has issued a démarcheWP. Some sources note this is something not usually issued to a friendly government.

The EU at the G7 can be represented by Germany, France and Italy, three voices. So why does the EU also get to send two EU Presidents as well? to give them a majority?

I thought the UK abdicated from world power intentionally and virtuously.

Captain_Swoop 13th June 2021 03:20 PM

Clicked on the GB News livestream to see what all the fuss is about. First thing I see is some bloke complaining about Megan Markle then Nigel Farage being interviewed about Communism and whether Boris Johnson has "gone woke".
Farage says Black Lives Matter "wants to bring down civilisation". Then he was cut off in mid-sentence by an ad for a pizza.

That's enough for me.

It was widely thought Scott Morrison's first meeting with US President Joe Biden would be a bilateral encounter, as is usual on the sidelines of a leaders' summit.

But instead, unexpectedly and unusually, the Prime Minister’s anticipated one on one with the US leader became a three-man affair.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson turned up too.
Mr Morrison said it was a "unique opportunity" and a "mutual" decision.

My Guess, Johnson couldn't abide the thought that Australia was more important to the USA than the UK.
