There are some really weird jobs that were associated with Royalty in the past, and some are still sort of around, such as the Keeper of the Royal (Queen's) Swans whose job until 1993 was the counting, looking after, and protecting the Swans on the River Thames. In 1993 it was split into two jobs, the Warden of the Royal Swans who is responsible for the annual Swan Upping, which is basically a swan census where they catch and ring all the swans on the river and check out their health, and the Maker of Swans who is responsible for the welfare and health of the swans, educating people, going and seeking out sick birds to get them treated, and rounding them up to clear the river for rowing competitions. What a fun job....
