Nigel Farage tweets]
@Nigel_Farage Gareth Southgate says “we have got so much to be proud of”. Patriotism is back, proper stuff. |
As a Scot, "what do you mean 'we', paleface?". Good luck to England, hope it is a good game. At least they may stop going on about 1966 for a wee while.

I see all "Bloody Stupid" Johnson's bollocks about UKian unity have been abandoned in the face of English nationalism. Again.

England is the UK

Priti Patel has tweeted
@pritipatel I am disgusted that @England players who have given so much for our country this summer have been subject to vile racist abuse on social media. It has no place in our country and I back the police to hold those responsible accountable. |
Bold of Patel to give backing to her own arrest, considering she led the charge on booing the squad’s attempts to highlight racial inequality.

UK foreign aid budget cut by £4bn
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-57826111 It's not like the UK needs to curry favour these days as a result of deteriorating relationships with close trading partners, former colonies or the United States  |
NHS Bill Having 2nd reading tomorrow in Parliament is a recipe for fragmenting the NHS into 42 ICS (integrated Care Systems) with different budgets and different priorities creating a postcode lottery with 42 different healthcare systems for England!

Jonathan Pie's take on it all:
|
I heard someone phone in a radio show yesterday who said that Tory MP Steve Baker was too liberal to be a Conservative in response to hearing that he had come out in support for the England team.
Anna Soubry former Tory Former MP, Govt Minister has also weighed in saying "Pitiful. Steve Baker and other Conservatives now praising England’s football team for taking the knee, now speaking out against those who booed them. Nothing to do with principle or leadership all to do with piling in when they see the direction of public opinion." Seems the Tories have a case of the GOP 'RINO' disease. |
I gather Boris Johnson gave a speech on how he plans to 'level up' the country, but apparently his recently appointed consultant has yet to deliver a best guess as to what 'levelling up' is supposed to actually mean.
Something about even more devolution, but not too much since that might transfer power over to Labour lead local councils. Oh, and something about yeast. |

Obviously, otherwise there would have been a Russian linesman. |
GB News tweeted
@GBNEWS On Tuesday a contributing presenter took the knee live on air and this was an unacceptable breach of our standards. |
Looks like channel GB News made a mistake and let people be against racism… That’s not what “free speech” was meant to be about! https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...aking-the-knee
Hopefully this hasn’t interrupted I-might-be-I-might-not-be-Brexiter Andrew Neil’s break at his French home. |

Why on earth are people saying that Michael Gove who split with his wife with no other people involved, has taken out a super injunction?
I am 99% sure 2 ministers wouldn't have broken social distancing rules. |

Ewen Fergusson has been appointed to the Committee on Standards in Public Life. Who is he? A campaigner for standards in politics? Nah but totally coincidentally he went to uni with Johnson, but so did a lot of people so we shouldn’t take that to mean they were buddies… By the way if you want to see a photo of him at university - he is behind Johnson in the infamous 1987 Bullingdon Club photo…..

But it's lines like that which make it credible that he might have said some of the things Zoe Williams made up in her Guardian piece - https://www.theguardian.com/politics...-of-articulate - like the bit about not understanding why folk in Rutland have a far greated life expectancy than those in Glasgow or Blackpool...But I don't expect Spaffer to have the remotest clue about health inequalities, nor for him to have heard of Marmot, let alone Townshend nor the Black Report nor Brown and Harris nor...It's a long list. I suspect he's heard of Danny Dorling but dismisses him as some "lefty academic" 'cos he used to be at Sheffield. |
