Belvin's suit and walk is much better than Heronimous's by a long shot IMO. But no one has even come close to replicating the animated character captured on the P/G film....

I'm not sure why his thumb ended up in the shot. Maybe that's why that little piece of film was cropped out of one copy in the first place. Maybe Roger later thought it was not professional looking....

What you believe is simply shadow, shows up as a possible track in the sand, next to a piece of wood. It shows up best in the clipped piece of footage, not the more distant shot that you are showing....
