Yes, it strips out all the unnecessary descriptions of trade and supplies used for the wedding feast. The removal of the sub-plot to obtain the apocalypse cloak improved the pacing too.

I don't think the police are needed to deal with this. Surely the government can just pass a bill stating that the areas around MPs houses are safe; that should sort everything out.
