Intruder enters and attacks Pelosi's Husband

Conservatives truly don't think their political opponents are actual human beings - just subhuman punching bags.

As much as I hate Trump and what the GOP has become, I thnk calling all peopl e who might have some conservative ideas fasicst is a bit much. No b etter then calling all liberals "communists".

where have you been?

they don't call liberals communists anymore - they are now baby-eating child molestering and murdering literal demons from hell.
Even elected Republicans tweet how Democrats are Demons and not humans. And Demonization of your enemy is Fascisms 101.

So yeah, Conservatives are comfortable enough with Fascism to vote for and support open fascists and those who support them - that's just an objective fact.
but at least we don't claim that they are no longer humans, unlike what they call us.

I love it someone condemns the other side for demonzing thier enemy, and then proceeds to do the same thing.

your comment suggests to me that you did not actually read my post.

Or that you think that calling someone a Fascist is equal or worse than calling them a baby-eating child molestering and murdering literal demons from hell.

Do you?

There are still any number of conservative idiots harping on the fact that Pelosi was in his underwear.

Note: You MUST sleep fully clothed now, even in your own house. Failure to do so will result in conservative morons making up dumb stories about you and sticking those dumb stories despite any and all information that contradicts their narrative.

Fox has all sorts of weird things they've picked up on.

  • Pelosi is in his underwear so that means they were sleeping together (yet the man is fully clothed).
  • Pelosi is holding a drink and appears to be smiling, and so that means it was staged. They were doing it for funsies.
  • The bag that the intruder had was actually filled with "toys" for the love fest that is apparently about to take place with an 80+ year old man. That's why he had to pull the hammer out of his coat and not the bag.

It's actually really fun to read if you can manage not throwing. Then it turns into in-fighting as they argue about which CT is the true CT.

Just to be clear: Are you referring to Fox News, or Fox News commenters? I wouldn't expect the actual channel to say that kind of stuff at this point (though they undoubtedly love hinting at it).

There's a great clip of Don Lemmon saying:
We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them.
Which is my vote for most ironic statement ever made.

There is basically no point in talking about this. Sure, what aboutism, appropriate what aboutism. Lots of folks on both sides and in power on both sides demonize the **** out of the opposition. Labeling every republican since grant as a racist and facist doesn't count becuase they are I guess. That is what gave us Trump though. Conservatives just tune out liberals calling people racists and don't bother looking into it because they've called every GOP candidate for any office in America a racist. Biden said Romney would put black people back in chains. That's not demonizing cause Romney is a rich white dude I guess. The NAACP rain adds linking GW Bush to the dragging death in Texas. The Dems have blatantly and repeatedly lied about the voting laws in georgia, Jim Crow 2.0, that's ok because Georgia's voting laws are slightly less restrictive than hot beds of the Klan like NY. Spending money in primaries to get the nuttiest GOP candidates into the general then claiming those candidates they helped were a threat to democracy. Demonizing the folks you got in position to threaten democracy, still ok.

I really do think the GOP is currently far crazier than the Dems but the Dems are more cynical. All the progs on this forum going on and on about how stupid GOP voters are but they fall for all that nonsense.

Demonizing your enemy is also Leninism 101. Thus right communism was coined and the Bolesheviks and Mensheviks got their names.

Who are the open fascist that conservatives support?

Waaah, they called every racist politician a racist and that just diluted the term to the point that conservatives don't care if you call them racists. Which is why years later I'm still whining about conservative racists getting called racists!

The comments on the article at Fox News, my bad. It's a sea of stupidity over there.

"We're so horrible that accurately describing us requires terms once though insulting and uncivil, so really we're the victims here." - Every modern conservative ever.

No, what progressives do is call every conservative politician a racist. Larry Elder was literally called the black face of white supremacy. Is that an accurate description?

"We're so horrible that accurately describing us requires terms once though insulting and uncivil, so really we're the victims here." - Every modern conservative ever.
That guys a racist, how do I know, he's a conservative." -Every modern progressive

Obviously that powerful logic will have changed your mind? No? I'll find some other way to insult you that will, I'm sure.

Mitt Romney will literally put black people back in chains if given the chance. The current legal regime in Georgia is literally worse than Jim Crow. Because that would have to true for your statements to be true. That would have to be true for the Dems, even the Dem president to be accurately describing republicans rather than demonizing them.

This is actually the biggest problem in American politics. Its not either the Dems or the Reps. Its the mutual hatred and demonizing. It must be awful to live in a country were about 40% of the population is just evil.

Yep. Keep beating that "Both sides" drum. You eventually create a tune and not random noise on it.

Here's the difference you are more and more making your entire persona out of pretending to not get.

Everything I say about conservatives is things they have openly admitted, usually bragged about.

Keep demonizing your opposition, eventually it will change someones mind? That's probably not the goal, the goal is probably to circle the wagons and convince you and yours that its true.

Also, claiming that Pelosi's pajama top is actually a dress shirt.

It's literally just a striped pajama top. Land's End, I think.

This attack is a direct result of Republican rhetoric. To be more clear, lies.

Did you hear what he had to say about why he did it?

- Stolen election
- Pelosi spying on Trump's campaign

- "...an endless ******* crime spree. The whole four years until they were finally able to steal the election."

All well known talking points for Republicans. Nobody else.

He sounds crazy but the problem is that these are things Republicans are telling their supporters out loud every day.

"If she lied I was gonna break her knee-caps"

Lied about what? All the lies he'd been fed for years by the Republican Party?

Republicans are starting to look like a terrorist organization, I'm saying it. Jan 6, the coverups, the dangerous lies, GOP members shooting up Democrats' homes, saying we should ignore the Constitution, maybe go for martial law to help steal the election.

Sounds like public enemy number one to me.

ETA: The Republican Party is the greatest threat to this country.

I think ahhell is trying to say that we shouldn't paint with such a broad brush.

While I agree that not every Republican or conservative is a fascist, enough of them are that they keep voting fascists into office. Republicans are currently making authoritarian laws that prevent women from having rights, to make it hard to vote, and to control elections in their favor. Tt is rare to hear a conservative voice speak out against those fascists and authoritarian tendencies. Those voices are so small and weak that I believe it is absolutely okay to just refer to them all as fascist or authoritarian. I'm sure there are few Klan members that aren't "demons" but I think it is fine to demonize those people as well.

The Republican Party as a whole is the greatest threat to this country on the planet. If not then who is? There really is a bad side right now.

I have no problem defending that position against anyone who cares to try to deny it.

I agree, for the most part (and this next part isn't directed at you), but at some point it's not reasonable to name each and every Republican that exhibits insert_terrible_character_trait_here. We're all grown-ups, and there's no one new to the forum in this thread. Is it seriously the expectation that every time we talk about how ****** the GOP is that we name each member that's ******? Generalizations aren't preferred, but I mean, what's the alternative?

The video didn't even put a dent in the conservasphere. Go read the comments on Fox news.

"Why does Pelosi have a glass of whiskey? This proves beyond a doubt that it was a lovers quarrel!"

The commenter must be blind as well as stupid. Whiskey isn't clear, which the liquid in that glass is.
"Why is he talking so calm? Why didn't he run out of the door to the cops? Why isn't he screaming bloody murder?"

My husband had the same reaction as in "Why is he so calm? Why isn't he yelling "Help!"? I told him that Pelosi was probably trying to keep the guy calm as he had already told the 911 dispatcher that the guy was 'waiting for his wife, Nancy Pelosi, to come home'. He was letting them know he was in danger from an intruder.

So on, and so on. As JoeMorgue has kind of alluded to, this didn't change anything. People that knew the lies were bull **** will continue to know that, and people who thought it was a CT, etc. will also continue to think that.

Yep. Stupid is stupid in either case.

I have no problem calling Trump supporters/MAGAites 'stupid'. The non-stupid Republicans have rejected Trump and the MAGA cult.

THis is the sort of **** I'm talking about. The guy was just a nut, he was nudism activist among and believed alien conspiracy theories among other things. Saying its republican propaganda that that lead to this is silly.

Then again -
saying the Republicans loved this and thought it was funny as hell is absolutely undeniably true.
Saying the Republicans made up, embraced, and passed on stupid and dumb stories about a gay lovers spat is undeniably true
Saying the Republicans embraced stories that the man was in his underwear is true
Saying that Republicans claimed embraced every available false story about that is undeniably true.

Perhaps not all of them - but the pro-Republican media on Fox news and on conservative social media had an absolute field day with this. They loved it.

And they still do. Go on social media. Look for even a single shred of remorse from any of the millions of conservatives who embraced the gay lovers spat nonsense. Look for any admission that they got the facts wrong when they claimed that the assailant was in his underwear.

You'll find none. They ran with every lie and untruth they could dream up and haven't the least shred of remorse.

I get that you are conservative and like what the GOP once was. But you are in hard denial if you think the party or of Reagan still exists. That party is dead and buried.

No, it's not silly. He's definitely nuts but it was Republican rhetoric that triggered him to break-in with the intent of 'questioning' Nancy P and, if she lied, 'break her knee caps'. Everything else is just irrelevant. Or would you like to claim that if the Republicans were not claiming the election was stolen from Trump by Biden that Depape would not have gone after Nancy Pelosi? Or that his plans to target Gov. Newsome, Hunter Biden and Tom Hanks were not triggered by Republican rhetoric?

I'm still amazed that calling someone a racist or fascist is taken to be more dehumanizing than calling them a Demon by many here.

I have no problem calling Trump supporters/MAGAites 'stupid'. The non-stupid Republicans have rejected Trump and the MAGA cult.

Have they though? The only Republicans that matter are those in the Congress and the various state houses. Most of them are willing to sleep with the devil and toe the line to get and remain elected. Those who had a conscience decided to turn tail and run away rather than stick it out and fight the creeping Trumpism. They then whine about how the Republican party no longer "stands for what it once did," which in itself is not all as good as they make it out to be, on the more centrist media platforms.

So, who is left?

I think any kind of "Have you no shame?" moment has well passed by in US politics. The old norms are dead and buried. Lies and outright CTs are embraced and promulgated. Facts and evidence can be and are ignored. There are no consequences for literal craziness; indeed, rewards ensue.

Where and how far does this go? Will the citizenry deal the Insurrection Party a series of incontestable drubbings until sanity returns? A vain hope, I fear. A society unable even to deal with the slaughter by gunfire of classrooms of kindergartners is lost.

Isn't exorcism a valid, if embarrassing, thing in the Catholic Church? Anyhoo, another checkmark in the column of insanity for even the more reasonable folk in 21st century America--which seems to want to go back to the 19th, early 20th at the latest.

But as described in the link, it's really a kind of blessing of the house, not "Satan Be Gone!"
Father Vincent Lampert, exorcist for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis, told the New York Post that exorcisms can be carried out for homes where a violent crime has occurred, and he gets thousands of requests for that each year.

"It would be the recitation of a particular prayer, inviting the presence of God back into the house, casting out any presence of evil that may be there. Then the house would be blessed with holy water, reminding us of our new life in Christ, and the fact that we need not fear any evil, because recognizing that Christ is dwelling with us," Lampert said.

But as described in the link, it's really a kind of blessing of the house, not "Satan Be Gone!"

That's my jam! I got ordained as a priest years ago to give house blessings to customers after construction. Mostly because there were often plumbers on the site. Vile creatures. Kind of wipes the slate clean of all the stress for the owners.

Your quote literally includes a Satan be gone component. And why is that even your threshold for acceptable levels of superstition in an elected official?

Religion is mostly superstition (apart from the nice rules about not lying or stealing or killing etc.). But I don't think praying that your home is free of evil is much different from praying that your husband will survive a brutal attack.

Especially after her home was visited by a genuine personification of murderous evil, even if you call it something else. A very large percentage of Americans generally subscribe to religious "superstitions."

Plus I don't care if she does a Tarot card reading to choose her breakfast cereal, as long as she performed her duties professionally.

I agree, but not just Americans. House blessings and sage cleansings are very common. Most religions believe in some form of the supernatural...demons, angels, jinns, rakshasas, pretas, etc.

Who among us is worthy to judge what is professional for members of the US House of Representatives? They are legally permitted to engage in insider trading, after all. Maybe gaslighting you about superstitious practices is the real pro move, here.
