Yes. More trouble brewing...

Ex-Scientologist sues the cult for loss of girlfriend and business
A former member threatens to disclose the inner workings of the organisation to which he was 'persuaded to give substantial sums'
A businessman is suing the Church of Scientology for hundreds of thousands of pounds, claiming that he lost his girlfriend and business after she became indoctrinated by the controversial self-styled church.

David Craig, who at one time joined the Scientologists, claims that he was persuaded to pay out more than £170,000 to the "spiritual cult" after his partner, Irina Glaser, was recruited by Scientologists. When, however, Mr Craig threatened to fight for custody of their infant son, he claims that Scientologists told him he would be expelled if he did not use their own judicial system to determine the case. The Scientologists did not wish to use what they referred to as "wog courts" (a derogatory term for the mainstream legal system), according to court documents seen by The Independent on Sunday.

The article concluded with a quote from a Scientology spokesperson
A Church of Scientology spokeswoman said yesterday: "It is a nuisance, because it attempts to reopen something which was fully resolved in 2007. As far as we are concerned, it is in breach of the agreement Mr Craig made then. At a time when our church is enjoying unprecedented growth it is not unexpected that some disgruntled or self-serving individuals might seek to profit from our expansion, or for other reasons try to cause disruption."

Yeah the usual predictable CoS response.
Deny. Deny. Deny . The critics are always lying..etc etc

Unprecedented growth does not indicate in which direction the cult is growing.

Now, if there's one thing I don't approve of secretive organizations having, it's their own court systems.

Oh, I also don't like them having paramilitary forces, or sea orgs, either.

Scientology always adds when denying a claim that the person making the claim is an apostate or is a criminal of some sort...and they always add that scientology is growing and expanding.
Here is a scientology rebuttal posted today (Nov 22) by Rev. John Carmichael, President, Church of Scientology New York.

The truth about the Church of Scientology is not to be found in the lies of an avowed enemy of the Church, but in the observations of people who looked for themselves and benefited. Those people are the reason Scientology is in a period of unprecedented expansion, with 8,070 churches, missions and groups helping people in 165 countries around the world. That expansion has been greater in the past five years than the previous 20.

Living in L.A., I can see it shrinking.

2 years ago, the L.A. Org had "graduations" (for any levels or courses completed) once a week at their main area called PAC Base off of Sunset Blvd.

Now, they are having them once a month...and all L.A. area orgs (like Pasadena and the Valley) combined rather than just L.A.

Here is a quick (3 minute) vid of their first one at the Wiltern in L.A. on Nov 13, 2009:

Scientology had sought to close off the sidewalks, but these are very busy and the police did not enforce the closed sidewalk request.

Yes scientologists are programmed to ask; "what crimes are you guilty of" as soon as you approach them with the slightest hint of criticism. It's in one of Hubbard's manuals, "Introduction to Scientology Ethics" if I recall correctly. It's also echoed with sentiments like these:
"Now, get this as a technical fact, not a hopeful idea. Every time we have investigated the background of a critic of Scientology, we have found crimes for which that person or group could be imprisoned under existing law.
We do not find critics of Scientology who do not have criminal pasts.
"
- L. Ron Hubbard HCOB 5 Nov. 1967

"If attacked on some vulnerable point by anyone or anything or any organization, always find or manufacture enough threat against them to cause them to sue for peace."
- L. Ron Hubbard, HCOPL 15 Aug 1960 Dept of Govt Affairs
They are predictable, persistent and relentless as an organisation (CoS). I still get mails from them, ranging from promo material, news to personal inquires etc (and no, I was never a member, but active critique thereof all over).

I've been fairly critical of Scientology rather a lot in the podcast, but they've yet to notice. And, I might say, there is absolutely nothing criminal in my past. I have an... unusual personal life, but nothing secret or illegal, or even immoral. So that would not wash much with me.

It usually only amounts to pissing off people, which is their main intention. The foot soldiers if you will have a tendency to act on their own accord, with loosely given guidelines. If you ever talked to a couple of scientologists in person it wouldn't be unexpected for them to try and goad you inte losing it. And they can be quite creepy in their attempts of doing so if for whatever reason you've managed to draw their attention.
They would love nothing more than to get a punch in the mouth by someone they've harrassed.
