This bit of logic is used by many creationists. Indeed, the timing of specific environmental pressures is random
with respect to the rest of the universe. But that doesn't matter, does it? What matters is that that environmental pressures last for a long time, long enough to nonrandomly select the more-or-less random mutations that occur in genomes
embedded in that environment.
