Bigfoot Follies: part deux

Wait, I've got it. Bigfoot was an experimental artificial soldier made to fight in Vietnam. Big so it can carry crew-served weapons, virtually impossible to kill with smallarms, and amazingly stealthy. This is why the Gummint suppresses all the samples found, and why it didn't first show up until the 1970s.

So, you're saying it was King Cong?

Why the squeal? Who got to you, man?

I mean, uh, bollocks. That never happened. Move along folks, nothing to see here.

Let's go with $50 and by 12/31/2017. Work for you?

Why are you specifically vying for $50, though? This suggests that you don't take the bet seriously, and it tells me that you don't fancy risking anything substantial on what would essentially be a find that was worth a substantial amount, assuming Bigfoot is a reality, as opposed to being a figment of pop-culture's imagination.

In the UK, $50 is about £30... I ask again, what's the point? Are you not a gambling man, as you told me? Where's the risk?

Three kids in college.

I do believe that I already offered you whatever odds you like... It makes no difference to me, as I clearly don't believe that Bigfoot will ever be found, and not because he's right smart at scarpering.

At 50,000 to 1 odds, I don't have to risk a lot to get a huge payout. $50 from be gets $2.5 million.

I was wondering what happens if a bettor leaves the forum before the duration. Is the bet just cancelled? Do bettors have to post here weekly saying that they are still around and the bet is still valid?

Anonymous strangers on an Internet forum make a cash bet that pays off years from now. I guess cats will be herded.

I offered my details to NL, whatever details he requires in order to feel comfortable. No weekly check-ups, obviously this is an ongoing wager. No bet is solid, anyone can pull out, but why would I pull out? I'm hardly going anywhere, and I don't believe in Bigfoot. I've had online bets before, mainly sports, and I've never had a guy vanish and not pay up, mainly because they weren't raving liars or lunatics.

But why are you trying to spin it to seem like it's all damage-control? You've told me how much you like gambling, and now you're telling me you want 50,000 to 1 odds on someone ever finding a Bigfoot? Let's be clear on this, you're supposed to be a believer who has had his own personal encounter, and yet you seem to think that there's as much chance of Footie being found as I do...

How difficult do you think it would be to set up the BF community like Randi did with Project Alpha?

Since Project Alpha was trying to hoax the scientific community, I think it will be next to impossible because they won't settle for anything less than a body at this point. Penn and Teller pulled off a successful hoax with video, but that isn't going to cut it from a scientific standpoint.

Let me get this straight. I make a wager with very little risk and potentially very large rewards and I'm the one spinning it in damage control? Must be missing something here.

You were asking for 50,000 to 1 odds and are only willing to pony up $50 on the discovery of something that you claim to KNOW exists, as you claim to have seen it with your own peepers. I think you're definitely missing something...

If I was a confident believer in the 'Squatch, and had seen one, I'd make a bet as though we were talking about seeing a simple house-cat on a fence.

But we're not wagering on whether I see one again, we are wagering on whether the scientific community recognizes the existence. Much higher bar. My knowing does nothing to advance that cause.

Nope, we're wagering on whether one will be discovered any time soon or not, and apparently you're not too convinced of it being any time "soon." My point regarding your sighting is that you should be even more convinced of it's eventual discovery as you claim to have seen one in wherever it is that you do your..."research." If I saw something with my own eyes, I'd be more than happy to bet on it being found at some point soon. Do you think Bigfoot is some kind of ninja? Or are you just more capable of finding these things than everyone else is, barring Moneymaker and Co'?

Discovered and recognized are two very different things. I've discovered them twice, but that means nothing from a recognition standpoint. Yes, I do believe there will be an eventual recognition, but since we have a wager and needing a finite deadline, 12/31/17 is what I'm wagering on, and I'm fine with that.

Here is a funny story about the Finding Bigfoot crew. When they came out to do the shoot in Minnesota, one of the producers was tagged with finding a spot for Bobo's solo investigation. The group I'm currently working with was asked by the producer where Bobo should go, and they took him to the location where I had both of my sightings, telling him of the activity. Well, the producer absolutely freaked upon arrival. He refused the leave the vehicle, kept shining his million candle-watt flashlight into the woods, and insisted on leaving right away. Bobo never made it there, and thus they found nothing, as usual.

Please keep in mind that this was told to me first hand by the person who drove the producer back to the location. I was not there during this time. I showed up later for the town hall meeting and subsequent taping. Finding Bigfoot has no intention of finding anything.

What difference does it make? You know very well that the wager was based on the eventual discovery of a living, breathing Sasquatch... And yes, once again, you having claimed to have seen them makes all the difference, as you should be more confident than anyone that you will eventually win this bet. I can't really dumb this down any more, mate, it's really quite simple.

You mean Finding Bigfoot isn't a genuine show that sets out to educate and discover? Well, no shizen, Sherlock.

Also, how can you state that they have no intention of finding anything when your Good 'n' Plenty story has your team essentially ignoring the apparent interest from a local Sasquatch?

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

lol. Well it's small so it isn't easy to find.

Incidentally ABP, that picture you posted? What do you think we are? It isn't even HD.

I don't know anything about cameras but I bought this i-phone, and it really does prove the point people are making about how easy it is to snap photos despite having had a lobotomy.

Gilbert, you are being dragged into the "game".

How much more obvious can you get when he claims the ability to put you right on top of bigfoot today for a $150 fee?

I don't have thousands of hours in the field, but have a 100% success rate at similar costs, and can guarantee an encounter with a potentially dangerous and even lethal animal all over Minnesota:

The great thing about these expeditions is that you get exactly as much bigfoot evidence as you do in any paid bigfoot expedition. But it's a whole lot more live action.

No matter the security of the outcome, the ability to pay off on a bet it pretty much a standard thing. To not do so gets you kneecapped in some circles.

I've offered a bet to Chris that if he ever brings in a footie, I'll donate two large to his favorite wildlife conservation group. That two grand is pretty dear as it would come out of my musical instrument/accessory and car mod budget.

Holy mackerel. Someone is saying that someone said that someone said he was afraid of bigfoot.

I have to go hiking. Whaddya want? Pictures of poop? Footprints? Rubs, scrapes, nibbled-off scrub willow, a lay? I won't see any live ones. The only way you can with this group is hang in tree stands for hours.

I had one trained to eat potatoes once. I eventually got him in my living room. It was a riot holding the dog back while I had him sticking his head and shoulders in through the front door. It really sent the dog into a frenzy.

Was that link really necessary?

Note to everyone, please don't click on it.

It takes you to an inappropriate site.

Really? You propose 50 bucks against your suggested 2.5 million? You think that fair?

Guess again.

Two people enter into a wager, both knowing and accepting the possible outcomes, how is that not fair?

From your comment, it also appears you feel I have a chance of winning.
