Crane Collapses Into the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia

Was the report I heard accurate. That they were extending the mosque to contain 2 million worshippers? Is this even possible?

I think it's been growing outward for the last few years. IIRC, the run between the two hills/mountains is almost completely enclosed now with one-way lanes to ensure worshippers don't bump into each other.

For many it's impossible to touch the Ka'aba when doing the circuits, the best you can do is point in its direction.

Wait, so this thing killed people who were expanding the Mosque? Wow God is an extra dick. Guess this means Islam is wrong.

People died. No matter what you think of the rationality of religious beliefs, this is pointlessly insensitive.

And I don't regard myself as a particularly sensitive guy.

You really are not used to Scrut are you???!!!

If any of the surviving family members join the forum, I will personally apologize to them.

You're too sensitive for this forum.

At once, no. Per year, yes. The rate in the last few years has been between 1 and 2 million per year.

It's best to stay away from your first cousins for 48 hours following freeper exposure.

Sounds like you've had first-hand experience, my condolences to your cousins.

Any word on how many women were killed in this accident?

Still falling for that old propaganda piece where they could have been celebrating ANYTHING? It could have been a video of any kind of Palestinian festival or celebration. I dislike Islam and still can't blame it on Palestinians.

Please see Post #15.

Gee, an accident at a construction site. First ever, eh?

How many of the casualties were laborers, and as such, NOT Saudi citizens but instead foreign labor whose passports were confiscated to keep them in line?

That interests me somewhat, but no matter who it was, sad for the families that someone won't be coming home from work today (or actually, Friday).

So far, none. Pakistani and Indian reports all state their citizens killed in the accident were pilgrims. I can't find any statements from Bangladesh but one of the casualties was a pilgrim, based on a report on a Bangladeshi website.
