Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VII

Damn, the hits just keep on coming for Hillary.

I could only watch about 90 seconds, because the truth blew my mind. Clinton and Trump both died on Nov. 4! Nuclear bombs!

Trump's entire Ohio rally perished with him. Didn't last long enough for the details on Hillary's demise, since I can only take such truths in small doses.

Trump's prospects have taken a very sharp upturn:

"Massive scale" shut-down of polling places in districts known for suppressing black voters

In a race with narrow margins depending heavily upon minority voter turnout, suppressing the votes cast by those minorities is going to be an effective means of disenfranchising them. Suppressing minority votes ma well hand Trump the keys to the White House.
That's disturbing but why no protest or court injunction sooner?

And all the while the negligent press just keeps replaying Trump pundits.

During the election Trump suggested minority voters elect him, because "what have they got to loose?"

Well, I guess they now have their answer.

Not much of an answer. I'm looking for a more technical one.

It's not a difficult concept. They did it in Ohio in 2004 by limiting voting machines, lots of polling places open, no waiting in the white suburbs while in the inner city people had to wait as much as 8 hours to vote.

It was indeed not to my liking because I still don't understand. How does it work, is what I want to know. How can they target black areas like this, or how do those methods affect black people more, and who, specifically are the "they" who are doing this?

"They" are the Republican Secretaries of State who have to power to do it.

Kathryn Harris - FL 2000

Ken Blackwell - Ohio - 2004

It might not be, but like everything else, when you know little about something, it's a good idea to seek to know more rather than make up your mind about it from ignorance, don't you think? Hence my question. How it's been answered, so I have a firmer grasp of the problem.

Instead of cryptic posts requesting the information be spoon fed to a person, a person learns a lot more Googling topics like these.

Yeah, heaven forbid I ask an honest question to my fellow forum members and engage in conversation. If I don't already know what Skeptic Ginger knows I shouldn't bother asking.

What the **** was cryptic about my question anyway? Everybody else seemed to have understood it.

No, how about next time you just let interested parties answer my question and not respond yourself, instead?

It occurs to me that one reason Michigan might be crawling with politicians in these last few days before the election is that we don't have early voting.

Personally, when I ask a question I like to be spoon fed the answer. The more info contained in the answer the better informed I become. Details can always be checked later once the basic info is provided. I also think the information that can be obtained from knowledgeable people on the ISF is way more useful than what may come up in a Google search. I suggest that criticizing people for asking questions here adds no value to the forums.

Can't see that side here. What is it?
Glenn Beck says that was freaked out about Obama but now counts himself a Black Lives Matter supporter. Also he considers Donald Trump to be dangerously unhinged based on a weird Howard Hughes like conversation they had at Mar-a-Lago.

That was the old Beck, he insists: “I did a lot of freaking out about Barack Obama.” But, he said, “Obama made me a better man.” He regrets calling the President a racist and counts himself a Black Lives Matter supporter. “There are things unique to the African-American experience that I cannot relate to,” he said. “I had to listen to them.”

Beck’s interactions with Donald Trump helped, too. He told a story of Trump summoning him to a guest room at Mar-a-Lago; Trump then telephoned him from an adjacent room. “We had this weird, almost Howard Hughes-like conversation,” Beck said. He left convinced that Trump was nuts. “This guy is dangerously unhinged,” he said. “And, for all the things people have said about me over the years, I should be able to spot Dangerously Unhinged.”

This would apply if the answer given, which did not require any further explanation, is replied to marked with sarcasm and is repeated three or four times. In that amount of time Google would have been quicker.

People that go on and on insisting people back up the most benign claims while rarely backing up their own claims prefer to argue with people, not to debate or discuss things.

Yeah I'm sure you think this:

Because Republican human trash intentional target black areas for those sort of things.

...required no further explanation. That was the very thing I was asking an explanation for!

I'd bet he's trying to worm his way back onto Fox News by being just moderate enough.

This, along with the very recent "Obama was screaming at a protester" incident, adds to the long list of things (i.e. the NFL letter claim) that have led me to suspect, with no snarky animosity intended, the man may be losing his mind.

He reminds me very much of Andy Griffith playing the "Lonesome Rhodes" character in A Face in the Crowd.

It's also important to note that the people being targeted frequently don't have the types of jobs that allow them to take a paid vacation day or paid sick day if it takes that long to vote, and can't afford to just lose a day's pay.
If it comes down to a choice of voting or paying the rent/buying groceries, they choose the latter.

I mean it with zero animosity and no small amount of real genuine concern and sympathy when I say I consider the possibility that Donald Trump has a mental problem to be a very real one.

He definitely has at least narcissistic personality disorder and maybe more personality disorders (anti social, borderline).

Some differences in style....Lonesome could mask his raging ego under a fake humility just plain folks persona, something Donald could never do, but, yeah I can almost see Donald, in private, with maybe one or two people going "Man I have those stupid suckers eating out the palm of hand" the way Rhodes does.Wonderful movie...great performance by Griffith;gives the actor a rare chance to show his dark side.

This is just ... Well...criminal. I would be the last person to claim that India has a great democratic set up. However, one thing you cannot fault the country for is its electoral mechanism.
Election day is a national holiday and multiple polling booths are set up at various wards. At one ward a polling booth was especially kept open for the vote of a single person...rural, heavily forested district with no roads. The voter had to literally treck a few miles through hilly forest terrain and streams (no bridges) to get to it...and he diligently did it every election season.
Of course there is illegal disenfranchisement of the minority castes particularly in the northern states where the upper caste capture booths, intimidate voters and the like. However, if this is proven to have happened, the election commission invariably declares the votes invalid and ensure a second poll with paramilitary protection and more oversight.
At no point does the state apparatus try to make it difficult for voters to caste their votes...infact just the opposite. They go out of their way to ensure that everyone gets the chance to vote.

I am completely okay saying that one of the biggest victims of Donald Trump is Donald Trump himself. I, and again this is all with zero snark, do not think the position he is in right now is healthy for him.

They are Republicans lawmakers/governors/election officials and they can do it because they are in control of the elections.

We need to find a way to take running elections out of the hands of the politicians, period. The Republican actions are outrageous, but, frankly, Democrats are often no better....I give you Illinois, and Chicago in particular, as an example.

Indeed.

Susheel's post below is illuminating.

I also feel trust in the UK system. If there were irregularities, there is a paper trail linking my vote with me, but it is a paper trail - paper ballots and polling officers ticking the voters' names off on a list and putting in the ballot serial number.

For any normal election - my vote is secret. If there is a problem it could be recovered but it would require proper authority. Postal votes are possible, as are proxy votes, and polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm (and if you are in the queue before 10pm, then until you have voted). Polling stations are on a ward level, which have several hundred voters.

Trumpers on CNN are still trying to say Trump is in good shape and then rationalize all the ways he might really be winning.
