One uses Wiki as a start because sometimes - as in this case - it has a good selection of detailed professional sources - I mean why don't you look at sources critically THEN hand wave them away?
Saves time.

Actually Ann Dunham's wiki page reads like possible typical agency profiles. She and both her husbands. African, and Indonesian. Russian language student. Oil industry surveyor. Good covers. Granpa Dunham welcoming russian language student at Hickam Air Force base Honolulu. As a missionary. Of course.
A friend of mine studying in Italy in 80s was approached and offered a job observing and taking notes and pics. No secret they are everywhere. My friend declined, he says. I knew a guy retired in 1990 or so from Shell. Engineer. Mid east, Asia. He said most every petro station near political hotspots had at least one spook. No brainer. Connections>(like skull & bones or similar)>wall street>petro>govt agency. Isnt that how you'd do it?
Left leaning? Not cold war granpa. Madsen's points applied to Gramps and Mom make more sense than applied to grandson. 'CIA family' doesnt mean grandson has to be a spook. That dont mean grandson was not in the loop. Especially earlier. Maybe he was involved. Maybe socialist leaning is a somehow useful part of today's agency. All this in the hypothetical model mind you. Theory. Madsen's material re gramps & mom seems plausible IMO.
