"Kneegate" - whistle-blower regrets naming names

The Independent: Michael Fallon's resignation is ridiculous, says female journalist at centre of 'kneegate'

"Julia Hartley-Brewer, the journalist who was touched on the knee by Sir Michael Fallon has called his resignation "ridiculous" but said she doubts that the incident was the reason for him quitting.

"If this is over kneegate, him touching my knee 15 years ago and me not having any issue with it today, this is the most insane, absurd and ridiculous resignation of a cabinet minister ever," she told Sky News.

"However I don't think that is the reason." "

Curiouser and curiouser...

Definitely more to it. There's something a little off about what has come out so far, but when you see comments like:

"What might have been acceptable 15, 10 years ago is clearly not acceptable now,"

and

"He did not feel that he could necessarily account for every event, every encounter in a long ministerial career without being able to guarantee that no more would emerge."

You have to think that there is more that is not being made public.

More to it - official!

BBC News: Sir Michael Fallon denies 'lewd remarks' allegation

"Former Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon "categorically denies" allegations that he made inappropriate sexual comments to Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom.

Reports in the Sun and the Daily Mail say Mrs Leadsom complained to Number 10 about her cabinet colleague, accusing him of making "lewd" remarks.

The claims come a day after Sir Michael resigned his post at the MoD, saying his conduct "fell short" of expected standards.

Mrs Leadsom has declined to comment."

Although, Andrea Leadsom... Eww!

Bloody hell. By that standard I would have been forced to resign hundreds of times due to my behaviour in the 1980s.

Seriously, these retrospective witch hunts have become ridiculous.

Michael Fallon - too naughty to be a minister but not too naughty to be an MP

From the article:

"....The new claims date back to between 2010 and 2012 when Sir Michael and Mrs Leadsom were members of the Treasury Select Committee...."

That time period would be strange if it was only the one accusation.

It is pretty clear that the impact of the Weinstein scandal is spreading way beyond the entertainment industry.
