Massive Wave of Hate Crimes against minorities follows Trump election.

I'm gonna say the media is trying to identify it more frequently because they really want it to be true. Same reason this thread is still alive. PLEEEASE someone blow up a mosque or church and leave a calling card! We really need you! Or something?

Surf's not up!

Slightly less polarizing analogy: Is the actual incidence of autism on the rise, or is it just being identified more accurately and more frequently now?

So you are arguing that the NYPD has changed their criteria of when nazi graffiti is a hate crime, similar to how the broadening of criteria for autism is responsible for the rise in diagnosis of ASD? Got any evidence?

Yes merely having Trump supporters opening fire at a Mosque and the Trump administration blaming the muslims for it are clearly not enough. But of course there will never be enough to justify a massive wave anyway.

If it wasn't for all the swastikas being drawn be people of color, as has been documented in this thread, we may have a clue as to the number drawn by Trump supporters and if there has been a massive wave.

And a rise in antisemitism in the black community doesn't matter why? If Trump can bring Nazi's and Jews together why not raise up antisemitism in the black community?

I suppose you have some evidence of a rise in antisemitism in the black community?

I wouldn't be shocked. Black separatists largely look to white supremacists as the reason for their views (it's not a good excuse), and as for being hateful towards jewish folks...well, isn't that every non-jewish hate group in the US?

In any case, given the numerous studies provided thus far, I'm satisfied that there was indeed a rise in hate crimes since Trump was inaugurated, even compared to the slower increase that occured under Obama.

I have plenty of evidence of a rise in antisemitism, the exact nature of who is more up for questioning. Do you have evidence to dismiss all of it as false flags by those lying jews?

Also NYC has some rather more specific issues and tensions between the black and jewish communities. With the strains of gentrification and a non trivial percentage of the developers being jewish. It is easy for nazi propaganda to gain a foot hold.

Plenty of evidence, eh? Enough to share with the rest of us?

I have seen, on this very thread, that many supposed hate crimes were perpetrated by the supposed victims for self serving purposes and that many reported hate crimes go nowhere after the initial reporting. We just do not know how many are false flags or real hate crimes.

And of course all attacks by trump supporters are written off as lone nuts.

See even when they have multiple attacks tied to the same organization it doesn't matter.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/01/29/suspects-in-five-homicides-reportedly-tied-to-macabre-neo-nazi-group/?utm_term=.3ba9052632ae

Nope this kind of right wing violence can't happen so we ignore all instances where it does. So we talk more about how the protesters were awful instead of the nazi driving a car into them.

Those stats do not mention Trump supporters. Most of the anti-Jewish crimes where there was an arrest are Blacks or Hispanic. The article about the Nazi group never mentions they were Trump supporters.
The asshat that drove into the crowd is despicable and is being charged with first degree murder.

Trump has a minority following. The minority members are the blacks and other minorities he has given jobs to and higher wages. The misguided attacks on minorities is being done without permission from Mr. Trump and he is very unhappy about it.

You should seriously consider trying to get on the horse before it leaves the barn. This thread has moved on quite a bit from the flawed OP over a year ago.

Definitely. Sophisticated double-back-somersault-with-a-twist-in-the-tuck-position type denials; not just yer basic belly flops. Cainkane1 you're going to have to up your hand-waving game if you want to run with the big dogs! We're well past the point where they're even pretending that Trump's not a racist.

What evidence do you need that nazis love trump? He puts their talking points in the state of the union after all.

...and more evidence, via this Washington Post article, titled "Hate crimes rose the day after Trump was elected, FBI data show".

Just, you know, a quick follow-up on my own note on the lack of data.

ETA: This is a point noted in the report itself which, as is often the case, is less clear than the title makes it out to be. Still, it's another piece of evidence that Dolt 45's election was itself a catalyst for bigots to act out.

Same article:
It’s unclear why election years bring an increase in reported hate crimes, particularly in the days following the election of our last two presidents.

Two presidents?

Nowhere in the article does it state that the hate crimes were all against minorities, or perpetrated by whites, which does not meet the criteria for this thread. It does show a white guy's mug shot though, but I'm sure being white is not a requirement for being charged with a hate crime.

I don't know that the claimed increase is a massive wave either:

Reported hate crimes with racial or ethnic bias jumped the day after President Trump won the 2016 election, from 10 to 27, according to an analysis of FBI hate crime statistics by The Washington Post.

From 10 to 27. Holy crap run for cover! I'm gonna say not a massive wave. And again, were they all against minorities?

Remember when the FBI put out a study/warning about the rise of right-wing terrorism in the USA? Remember when FOX news and Republicans were outraged and whined so much that the study was withdrawn? It seems to me that we are suffering from more right-wing terrorism in America now than ever. Republicans are the party of right wing terrorism.

But we refuse to classify it as such of course. So militant christian organizations are not harmed by their connection to serial bombers and such. That would be so wrong if they were harmed for merely training them.

The study cited above lumps transgender murders in with the rest, implying it's those whitey righties who are to blame. Those are the same murders where most of the perps were minorities, John's, or family. Makes you wonder how loose with their bias's they were.

Put it another way: The evidence that would change my mind does not appear to exist.

To put it more accurately the evidence that would change your mind can not exist. Any study is dismissed as sample bias so what evidence would you accept that can actually exist?

Trump is the epitome of strange bedfellows of hate. He gets support from nazis and zionist jews while accepting both and refuting neither and they exist comfortably side by side. Why is it such a stretch that his anti trans bigotry would impact people who agree with him on little else?

The largest single category of hate crimes in the United States are committed against African Americans: of the 8,208 hate crimes reported to the FBI in 2010, 48% were race related – with 70% of those having an anti-black bias.
Victims of Hate Crimes, USA (Wikipedia)

But, of course, alt-rightists like to pretend that hate crimes aren’t usually directed at disenfranchised minorities. As if white, Anglo-Saxon heterosexual males were likely victims of hate crimes instead of their perpetrators.

Hate crimes increased nationwide in 2016, according to an annual FBI tally released this week. A clear majority were motivated by race or ethnicity, with African-Americans the most likely to be targeted. About a fifth were religiously motivated, with the majority of those directed against Jews.
Independent, Nov. 17, 2017
The number of hate crimes in 2016 jumped by nearly 300 reported cases compared to the year prior, with 6,121 incidents reported the FBI last year compared to 5,850 in 2015.
Independent, Nov. 14, 2017

In New York City, for example, police commissioner James O’Neill said in a recent radio interview that hate crimes are indeed on the rise.
“We’ve had an uptick in hate crimes—actually a little bit more than an uptick,” he said. “We’re up 31% from last year. We had at this time last year 250; this year we have 328. Specifically against the Muslim population in New York City, we went up from 12 to 25. And anti-Semitic is up, too, by 9% from 102 to 111.
Quartz, Nov. 26, 2016

Police in New York have logged 43 possible hate crimes since Trump's election, double the number during the same period last year.
Fox News, Dec. 6, 2016

I suppose the increasing number of hate crimes may have been on the rise not just after the election but also during the hateful Trump campaign leading up to it. His rallies sure as hell tried to encourage them!
It’s good to know that there’s a guy in the White House who’s doing his utmost to make sure that good statistics about these questions are secured …

From your own quotes (about NY);
- hate crimes went up by 78
- anti Muslim up by 13
- anti Semitic hate by 9
..... that leaves hate crime (not against Muslims and Jews) up by 56, the vast majority of the increase. Mind telling us who was targeted and who was perpetrating (not many trump fans in NY)?

Why don't you tell us? I bet it's against white people, right?

And is NY a Trump fan free zone? If so, it sounds like paradise.

Michael Hari, who recently launched his own global security firm from tiny downstate Clarence, wants to build President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful wall" on the Mexican border and believes he can do it better, and for billions of dollars less, than more established contractors.

"We would look at the wall as not just a physical barrier to immigration but also as a symbol of the American determination to defend our culture, our language, our heritage, from any outsiders," said Hari, 46, one of a handful of Illinois applicants.

Michael Hari was just charged with bombing a mosque.

The first two paragraphs are unrelated to the final sentence, right?
