"Many lawyers and top law firms want to represent me in the Russia case...don’t believe the Fake News narrative that it is hard to find a lawyer who wants to take this on. Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer...

A good chance of failure will be turned down.
True. Nobody wants to be seen as the captain of the Titanic and if they see a losing cause in representing Trump, that may shy away from representing him.

Plus, I wonder just how much "fortune" would be involved, considering Trump has a habit of not paying his bills (and representing Trump in a losing cause won't help bring in new business).

And finally... it was an incredibly stupid thing to say. By talking "fame and fortune" he's just tarred any law firms that might want to represent him as being greedy and egotistical.

By talking "fame and fortune"...

Sure it’s a common phrase, but...

...it’s funny. On Opening Arguments Andrew Torres says having winning TTTBE entry will bring one fame and fortune - but then, under his breath adds the qualifier...”Fame and fortune not guaranteed”.

I seriously doubt Trump listens to Opening Arguments, but I find it a cute coincidence.

... but has he enacted the sanctions Congress voted for?
Yes he did. Finally. Months after congress passed the sanctions law. After missing deadlines for imposing sanctions and claiming "we don't need to... the threat of imposing them was enough" he finally implemented them.

Now the question is... did he do so because he thought it was the best thing to do for the country or because he realized the optics were making him look bad.

If you think that the thread has been 'bobbed', please ignore and report rather than comment.

For the avoidance of doubt, referring to another poster's posting style in this way is a breach of rule 11 and rule 12.

(Off topic) I've done that. No effect. Bobbing continues. Can you not understand why these comments are becoming so prevalent?

That's because the behaviour is not against the rules, but it encourages derails. That's the whole point of it, and that's why it needs to be addressed.

And Russia probably offered the same when they expelled our diplomats. Public feud, private handshake.
Or, of course, it's a lie intended to increase the political discord here. Most of us regard Russian tv as an unreliable source after all.

Key in on the part where McCabe says he has emails that prove Comey knew it.

As I said, one or the other is likely lying. They're both Republicans, so no one should be surprised. Sorta like former private citizen orange who had seen absolute proof from his investigators that BHO was a Kenyan, eh? Another lying Republican. No surprise, it's what they do.

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/03/30/politics/mccabe-comey-fbi-report/index.html

Former FBI Director James Comey told internal investigators at the Justice Department that he could not recall McCabe telling him about having authorized FBI officials to talk to a reporter about an ongoing investigation, the sources said.

[...]

Another source familiar with the matter argued that the discrepancy between the two accounts is more about the fact that they are recalling the interaction differently than a dispute about what took place, saying both were acting in "good faith."
"They recall it differently," the source said. "Andy thinks in good faith he told him, and Comey in good faith says he wasn't told."
The source added that "the notion that the two guys are pitted against each other is crazy."

Quote from that article:

Yeah, but it's a win/win for logger. Each believes his version of the story so whomever is being slandered this week can win the Tweet.

"Apparently McCabe is a liar" can run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
"Comey lied to investigators" will be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
On Sunday it'll be "Bozo Bezos is a poopie head!"

Except McCabe was fired specifically for lying. Maybe he’s finally cooperating with Horowitz and the newly minted prosecutor.

Hmmmm.... verrrry interesting (Laugh In - mid-60s).

Let's see if we can follow the Logic of Convenience. McCabe's this here lying guy. McCabe disagrees with Comey's version of how something went down. That makes Comey a liar? Disagreeing with the guy you just called a liar?

Is that how it goes? Conservatives' moral compasses are so screwed up that I'm amazed they find their way to the Church of the Blessed Hypocrite every Sunday.

Their moral compasses point pretty much wherever they want them to, depending on what is most convenient, or profitable (if there's a difference) at that particular moment in time.

They've made it crystal clear in the past few years that they they see no profit in consistency where morals or ethics are concerned. Expedience is the rule.

McCabe is a republican?

He identifies as one.

McCabe said:
“I have considered myself to be a Republican my entire life,” albeit “a moderate Republican,” McCabe said. “I’ve voted for every Republican candidate for president in every election, except the 2016 one, in which I did not vote. And I chose not to vote because of the political nature of the work that we were engaged in.”

Given that party affiliation is, in fact, a choice, it would take a special kind of snowflake to argue that his identification is invalid.

At Chicago nightclub, George Papadopoulos allegedly makes explosive new claim about Jeff Sessions

ThinkProgress said:
On Thursday at a Chicago nightclub, Papadopoulos had some drinks and, in a conversation with a new acquaintance, allegedly made new and explosive claims about Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Papadopoulos, according to this new acquaintance, said that Sessions was well aware of the contact between Papadopoulos and Joseph Mifsud, an academic from Malta with high-level connections in Russia. Papadopoulos’ indictment revealed that Mifsud had told Papadopoulos that the Russians had “‘dirt’ on then-candidate Hillary Clinton in the form of ‘thousands of emails.'”

Jason Wilson, a computer programmer who lives in Chicago, told ThinkProgress that Papadopoulos said during their conversation that “Sessions encouraged me” to find out anything he could about the hacked Hillary Clinton emails that Mifsud had mentioned.

Lock 'em all up, Mueller.

"....lawyer or law firm will take months to get up to speed (if for no other reason than they can bill more), which is unfair to our great country - and I am very happy with my existing team. Besides, there was NO COLLUSION with Russia, except by Crooked Hillary and the Dems!"

So, going by past form in a few days he will announce new lawyers.

Since the "very stable genius" known as Donald Trump is having such a tough time finding a good civilian lawyer to represent him, then I wonder if Trump could order a military lawyer to represent him?

Are there any Forum law scholars who can answer such a question?

Thanks much in advance.

There's a Seth Abramson thread questioning that story's veracity. His conclusion is it'd be great if it were true, but wait until an actual news source runs it before you get your hopes up.

FAKE NEWS. "Jason Wilson" clearly looking for attention, simply asked for a picture and tried to make questions about the case to which George never answered. I told @JuddLegum multiple times yesterday ON THE RECORD that it was not true. call recorded-our lawyers will proceed

Here is Simona suggesting she has audio proof ThinkProgress went forward with a single-source story denied by the two other eyewitnesses present, and that she may get lawyers involved. An undergrad journalist wouldn't have made the mistake ThinkProgress appears to have made here.

I must admit that the first time I read the story I thought "hmm, that sounds unlikely".

True. but it's not from an anonymous source and the guy has a picture of himself with Papadopoulos at the bar. And Papadopoulos opened the whole Russiagate thing by getting blabby with an Australian diplomat in a bar. It's hard to believe that Papadopoulos didn't tell everyone he could reach out to about the hacked emails, so it's a credible story.

"Hard to believe" does not mean credible in my book. A "new acquaintance"....what a joke.
