The Trump/Kim Summit - USA v No. Korea - General Discussion

Oh yeah! Those vagina-hat-wearing truth-and-kindess-monopoly-holder liberals are gonna be more pissed than Trump in Russia...

Donald Trump, the president the USA deserves!

Some left wing, yes left wing, outlets are saying he could earn a Pulitzer!

Trigger the left....

Is this you not for the war officially ending? Why not be a teensy bit more specific.

I could see a case where he removed troops from South Korea as part of the agreement, much to the chagrin of South Korea. But I'm confident that if that occurred, you wouldn't be opposed to it because you wouldn't find that relation and arrangement worth it.

ETA: What I think about war isn't the issue. This is about the response of East Asian leaders. I think they correctly see Trump as willing to negotiate away strategic relationships in East Asia where other presidents would not.

Like we removed troops from Germany? There isn’t any reason to remove them. Once we’re in we’re staying.

The reason is because North Korea's primary aim is maintaining their regime. Trump doesn't seem to have any particular interest in the peninsula other than WMD. Removing troops in exchange for weapons could be an expedient way to achieve that.

Germany is not the USA. Do you want to steal land from others with might?

I know that the USA is God's own land, but that only works for those Americans, who believe in that. For the rest of us that is just funny.

Sure, because moving the embassy is a brilliant move. Next step, peace. Because after all, that issue is now settled. All of Jerusalem belongs to Israel. Done deal!

Why the sarcasm? plague311 fantasized about Trump triggering a Korean rapprochment. I'm just saying, if we're going along with that fantasy, then why not continue the fantasy into his second term, and imagine he'll trigger peace in other conflicted regions of the globe?

I notice you let plague311's part of the fantasy pass without comment. Why did you single me out? Were you reading the thread out of order?

Kim strikes me as being like Koba from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He'll be all smiles and act a little silly so The PDJT's entourage put their guard down, then it's bullet time.

One thing about native Koreans, they know how to hold a grudge.

Probably did read it out of order. For some reason, Tapatalk is taking me to the first post of the last page rather than the first unread post. It's very annoying.

Kim Jong-Il will wind up getting 30 billions a year in zero interest loans, aid and technology transfers from South Korea, which is what he needs to have his subjects happy and his throne secure.

By 2030 the South Koreans will realize they have been duped and North Korea will be a prosperous absolute kingdom.

Could be, Kim may also be willing to be paid off and live out his life in luxury.

I have no idea what you’re getting at?

For what? Writing the book The Art of the Getting There and Staying?

For ending the war in Korea? Getting rid of Kim’s nukes?

Ending the demilitarised zone?

Saving the NK people?

Making America Great Again?

The list is going to be endless!

But do you agree that if it was the troops deal to fulfill Kim's wishes,do you agree that Trump would support it and you would support it also?

No. That would be a bad trade. The troops were there before the nukes, and the troops are there for reasons other than nukes. Troop removal should be contingent on a deal that removes the reason the troops were put there to begin with.

Nuke removal should be reciprocated by removal of things added in response to the nukes, not by removal of things that are actually necessary even without the nukes.

But do you think Trump cares about that?

As for if "you" care about it, that was an explicit logger and logger-level supporters of trump.

As long as Trump doesn't make things demonstrably worse (i.e. costs US lives), his supporters will call it the greatest diplomatic achievement of all times.

Which is why I said Trump would be willing to trade away those. I don't know what you disagree with.

You don’t think that’s reasonable? We’ve literally done that everywhere.

You’re also wrongly assuming the SK’s would be against it.

Our sub conversation hasn't been at all about what I think is reasonable. This is about viewing the praise countries like Japan giving Trump as an act of realpolitik. And why what you called "triggered" is actually thinking about how Trump responds to flattery.

Well that’s interesting, irrelevant but interesting.

lThe kind of blind worship logger has for Trump is simply dangerous to democracy. A democracy has no place for Dear Leader who is above criticism.

But the extreme spin you’re putting on it isn’t.

It’s a huge accomplishment that no one else could get done.

Extreme spin? You agreed that reducing troops from the region is on the table (probably something that helps feed your notion that no one else can get it done). Pointing out that those nations may be making moves to not have that happen isn't extreme spin.

I’m sure they already know it isn’t happening, since we’ve never done it. We’ve lessened our troop levels, that of course is reasonable.

I think you have a contradiction here. I said "reduce troop levels." You said we have never done it and then said we have done it.

You said “remove troops” if you meant reduced troop levels, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

I see Kim more like Korben Dallas from The Fifth Element. Sending someone in to negotiate -
