Trump Foundation dissolving

While it doesn't compare to the attack on our democracy that the Trump administration conducts, the agreement to dissolve the Trump charity and the detailing of
a shocking pattern of illegality involving the Trump Foundation -- including unlawful coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing, and much more. This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump's business and political interests
(quoting NY AG Underwood) is just one more example of our president's contempt for the rule of law (along with violating the emolument clause, campaign finance laws, commenting on ongoing investigations and influencing the witnesses thereof, etc.).

Remember, the POTUS is the chief law enforcement official of the USA. It's horrible that the POTUS should display the contempt for the rule of law the the current POTUS does.

Yes, but the most horrible thing is that he holds this kind of contempt for the rule of law and still has so much support among the electorate. And the Republican party.

The smallest payout from the charity, $7, may very well have been a payment to the Boy Scouts to enroll his son, Baron, and would have been an illegal use of charitable funds.

Is there any petty crime this family won't commit?

Just to nitpick...

The $7 payment was done in 1989, before Baron was born. However, Donald Trump Jr. would have been around 11 at the time, so if the money was used to register someone, he would have been it.

ETA: The largest donation was to restore a public fountain. Which just happened to be outside of one of Trump's properties.

So you will have a POTUS that because of his misfeasance is not allowed to run a charity in New York... It is quite unbelievable.

The great ironies of ironies.

Trump, the serial failure and king of bankruptcies, manages to succeed in his most ambitious project yet and becomes president. By accomplishing this incredible task, which many of the best and brightest in this country have failed to do, he absolutely ruins himself and his entire criminal organization by drawing intense scrutiny to his myriad criminal activities both before and during his presidency.

If only his criminal organization was the only thing he was ruining.

So when Trump attacked the Clinton Foundation by calling it a "criminal enterprise", he was actually talking about his own?

I've long said that I think Trump and his family have come to rue the day he came came down that escalator in Trump Tower.

Tiffany must bless the day she didn't become involved in Daddy's businesses.

Even if it were true about the Clinton Foundation being a cesspit of criminality, it just proves the Clinton is superior to Trump.

For all the incessant investigations and hearings into Clinton by the lunatic right, nothing has stuck.

The bloated corpse that is the Trump Organization gets one sideways glance, and a deluge of evidence comes spilling out onto the pavement. Evidence of crimes is stacking faster than can be investigated.

Well, Donny and Bill were bosom golf buddies for 20 years afterall....

But obviously Donny Boy was too busy chasing the beer-cart girl down the fairway, and thus, missed Bill's explaining to him all about how to run a criminal enterprise and not get caught.

People generally don't appear to want the best and the brightest. They generally want people who say stuff they like.

The NY AG is an Angry Democrat. And what about the Clinton Foundation?

What indeed about the Clinton Foundation? Here is a fairly balanced analysis from Snopes on that very topic:

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/clinton-foundation-scores-higher-as-a-charity-than-the-red-cross/

Apparently for all the attempts by Republicans to smear it in their continuing goal of using the Clintons as bogeyman/woman, it turns out to be a fairly well run and legitimate charity.

The Trump Charity? Not so.

I rather liked the take an NPR commentator had on it today, in which he pointed out that although the legal repercussions of the suit weren't all that huge, the judgment of the AG that no Trump family members could serve on any charitable boards in the state means, essentially that the most powerful person in the world lacks the moral standing to serve on the board of the Staten Island Little League.

I've long said that I think Trump and his family have come to rue the day he came came down that escalator in Trump Tower.

Tiffany must bless the day she didn't become involved in Daddy's businesses.
If there is a god who meddles in mundane affairs, and if that god is just, we will one day see the family in jail, and Tiffany free, with the title of Interim CEO and Bankruptcy Executor.

The voluntary dissolving of the Foundation is just a way for Trump and the WH to be able say exactly what Trump says regarding the gov't lawsuit against Trump for racial profiling renters in his building: we weren't convicted of anything.

I think you are right that this is his tactic: Dems hounded me into shutting down a great foundation doing wonderful work but the dems didn't like it.

It should be noted that dissolving the Foundation does not relive the individuals of liability.

I wouldn't mind a portrait of Trump, one that he's personally owned. I don't believe in the occult, but I have rather a good library and am willing to give sympathetic magic a try.

Back in the day, my mom had a pistol and used a picture of Joe McCarthy as her target. But tempting as it might be, a president is something else. Best keep that dart board in the basement.

P.S. The image linked above is fake. A cheap shot and not necessary. After his daily tweets, we hardly need photoshopped pants to remind us what he's full of.

Nah. A dart is not considered a lethal weapon. Besides, unless Trump has eyes in Tragic Monkey's library, no problem.
I like how your mother thought. A woman after my own heart.
