1. strange whataboutisms and weird accusations that don't make sense, probably to derail the thread. "Oh my god, you want us to take action! How scary! You must want to put people in jail for disagreeing with you! You people are a threat to society!"
2. talking about how holodomor is or isn't indicative of "socialism". Not Stalinism or even the broader term communism, but "socialism", that oversimplified term used for everyone on the left. This is something I've seen a lot in Norway latelly, words like "immigrant", "Muslim", and "socialist" used broadly to cover way more people and ideas than intended. Everyone who has brown skin is a "Muslim". Everyone on the left is a "socialist", and since Venezuela and the Soviet Union were socialist countries, socialists are horrible people who want Norway to become such a country.
3. quibbling over minor details instead of actually refuting points. Yes, the Nazis killed 11 million in the Holocaust, but was the Holocaust intended by the Nazis all along? Is mass murder inherent in Nazism? Is this or that really terrorism? Can I manage to make you discuss this for several pages instead of the topic of the OP? Etc.
I don't know if you are doing these things deliberately, like the people described in the OP, but you sure fit the bill.
More on-topic, thanks to the OP and others who supplied links. That style guide was indeed pretty scary.
