Reports are he is doing smaller and smaller venues and not filling them. Still running the tired old classics in his speeches, for a handful of whoops from the few remaining cross-eyed faithful.

Before we get too optimistic that Trump's popularity is waning, remember that the U.S. is still well over a year away from the election.

IF Trump happens to maintain a lead in the republican primaries, and/or if he becomes the eventual nominee (still a strong possibility), it is possible that he will attract bigger crowds. (Remember all the people who called him a 'kook' early in the 2016 primaries when they thought he didn't have much of a chance, and then became strong supporters when he became the winner. The same thing might happen here... "I don't like Trump. Wait, he's the nominee? Well I guess I got to get behind him. When is his next campaign rally?")

I don't agree. A lot of people who voted for Trump in 2016 refused to vote for him in 2020. After J6, his election denial ranting, and all his legal problems, I think only his die hard Magats will vote for him. The others will still vote R down ballot, but not for him as POTUS. Even my gun-loving GOP BIL, who voted R, didn't vote for Trump last time.

He still reminds me of Elmer Gantry.
He is not smart enough to carry off even that fictional plot. Gantry at least was self-aware. Trump is not even that. His world has always been himself, and now it is receding to just what remains in the few synapses left in his crocodilian brain-stem - eat, want, grab, repeat.

Didn't Trump actually get more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016?

Yes, but that's because many more people overall voted in 2020 than in 2016...the highest number in history. More people voted for Biden than voted for Clinton, too. Trump received 10 million more in 2020 than in 2016, but Biden received over 15 million more than Clinton... and remember that Clinton received about 3 million more votes than Trump in 2016.

First of all, keep in mind that i never said he would likely WIN in 2024, only that he may start drawing larger crowds as we get closer the general election. (Even if he doesn't reach the same popularity he had in 2016.)

Secondly, I hope you're right that people won't vote for Trump as a candidate. Some may vote republican down ballot but not for a candidate Trump, but it still makes me a bit nervous. We have seen plenty of people put party ahead of country.

Yes I know all that but the fact remains that more Americans actually chose to make the effort to go out and vote for Trump in 2020 than did in 2016, despite now having no excuse not to know exactly what he was like. And a very scary fact it is.

IMO this :(

If people feel poorer in 2024 then they'll vote for the GOP Presidential candidate.

You can't fix stupid.

There's the problem. They did NOT know exactly what he was like. Fox News, the only source of information for millions of Americans, ensured that he was painted as a smart, rich, innocent businessman, trying to make America better for all the white folks like him. Even today, Trump's hilariously stupid, self-immolating escapades are presented in a highly edited form to reinforce this image.

If you only watch right-wing news and listen to right-wing radio, that's pretty much the way he's presented. He's just been persecuted by the Libs with their witch hunts and hoaxes and he's totally innocent, done nothing wrong.

I loved that video of the deposition released today. It's clear that his hair is no longer up to doing the job -- you can clearly see his scalp. He doesn't have the fullness any more to pull off the Dairy Queen Swirl.

It's open warfare between De Santis and Trump with De Santis firing back.
Hope it's a case of mutual self destruction

The two can insult, take digs and swings at each other all day long until, god forbid, Trump becomes the candidate. Then DeSantis will do exactly what Cruz, Graham and all the others did in 2016: support him. If it's the other way around, who knows with Trump? He's less likely to support DeSantis because he's a petty, vengeful POS.

Then let's hope DeSantis wins (now there's words I never thought I would write! ;)). Because then Trump would be the hand grenade in the GOP's own trench. The Dems should also encourage Trump throwing himself into the fray to undermine DeSantis. Because "Don't interrupt your enemy...", etc.

Just want to reinforce that this is absolutely true.

Things most Fox viewers have never seen:

- MTG, ever. My Dad and other family have never heard her name.
- Boobert, ever.
- Gaetz the child molester
- Trump doing stupid things, drinking water with two hands, yo-yo-yo-semite, Constitution should be ignored, on and on and on. None. Of. It. Ever.
- Herschel Walker's China Bad Air and his other speeches.
- Trump's Trading cards. My Dad thought I was lying when I showed him the video. Thought it was fake at first.
- Any negative news about Trump and Republicans is not there, unless they have no choice but to show it.

Not to mention the shameless and obviously edited videos of Biden in an attempt to show him as feeble.

- Four Seasons and Guiliani's insane speech, and all his other antics.
- Charles Kushner being pardoned by Trump
- Roger Stone wishing for violence on J6
- The fact that Stone and Bannon and others were pardoned

I could go on all day. Fox news is fake news at its best.

I tell them all, "All you have to do is change the channel"

Right-wing radio shouldn't be discounted at all, really, especially for those with longer drives... which is a lot of rural people (the strong red lean among rural people is almost certain to be significantly related to the right-wing monopoly on the radio). They get away with a lot of crap on right-wing radio. Also, it's worth noting that right-wing radio hosts can and have been fired, mid program, for daring to offer criticism of Trump's brazen wrongdoings.

Just FYI, we get Sky News here, which is a local arm of News Corp. Just for the shiggles, I watched a couple of hours recently (that was all I could bear), about the time when Donny was at one of his recent rallies (New Hampshire??). According to Sky, he was in fine fettle, sharp and spritely, a worthy candidate. According to more reputable sources, he was a rambling, blithering wreck.

Strangely, when the talking heads were rabbiting on and Donny was shown in the background whooping up the crowd, it seemed to be vision from another rally, possibly from quite a few years ago. Different people in the background, etc. I may have been wrong as there was not a lot of footage, but I just vaguely recall I had seen that vision before...

I said they had no excuse not to know what he was like after he'd been POTUS for four years. "I only watch Fox News" is not an excuse, it's proof that their ignorance is willful.

Exactly to the point!

“You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

“Fifth Amendment. Fifth Amendment. Fifth Amendment. Horrible.”

Do I really need to say who these quotes are from?

I'm sure someone has already put the two video clips together, but IF they haven't, somebody needs to.

Jr. almost looks like he's achieved enough self awareness to be uncomfortable.
