Guiliani Suspended from Practicing Law

Nothing about Giuliani is surprising any more. It wouldn't surprise me that he didn’t pay his attorney's fees since Trump doesn't pay his.

It also wouldn't surprise me that it isn’t a real lawsuit. Not that his attorneys didn’t file a lawsuit, but that it's just another ploy. Performance art for the rubes as well as for the lawyers representing Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. Why waste your time since you're never going to get paid.

Steve Bannon had the same lawyer, and he didn't pay him either.

I am surprised this is a recurring issue. Not that lawyers are mercenaries that will do any dirty job for a paycheck or that freaks that orbit Trump would run out on a bill, but that anyone competent enough to be an attorney would put themselves in a position where these ghouls owe them large sums of money.

These are exactly the kinds of clients that scream "huge upfront cash retainer".

What happens if he can't get a lawyer to represent him? These are civil cases, so I don't think a public defender is an option.

I guess he can defend himself with his customary brilliance, eloquence, and dripping of strange liquids from his skull.

Should be noted. Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss's attorneys in a court filing today stated that Giuliani "failed to take any of the actions that the judge ordered which included turning over evidence and paying the attorney's fees.

How long ago is it since Giuliani practiced law? I have the feeling that he is himself a crappy lawyer, and hence a crappy adviser.

I guess that depends on what counts as "practicing law". He's been sued a lot recently. Before that he was involved in various lawsuits attempting to challenge the results of the 2020 election on Trump's behalf, all of which failed to achieve the desired result as far as I can recall.

A podcast I listen to called Serious Trouble seems to think that he's not a good lawyer.

Rudy's lawyer wants to jump the queue before the defamation damages are being awared.

How does he do that? The trial to specify damages in the defamation case will start on December 11th of this year. It will probably be 6 months at the earliest before there will be a court date for his lawyers. My guess it will be more like a year. And by then, Rudy might be in prison.

BTW, the court ordered yesterday that Rudy pay an additional $104,000 to the $$132,000 already owed to the election workers lawyers.

It may as well be a billion trillion dollars, they'll never see a penny IMO. :(

At this point, I assume that Rudy refuses to turn over any evidence, risking sanctions and judgements, because his devices are full of kiddie porn and he has no idea how delete it permanently

I feel confident that Rudy has assets such as condos in Florida and New York. He has listed the condo in Manhattan for sale at 6 million dollars. The condo in Florida is valued at around $3 million dollars. My guess is both properties will be seized. And Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss will be first in line.

The problem with that is that the "owned" properties may be heavily mortgaged. Their actual net value may be much less. (Something I have learned fro watching the US TV show American GreedWP wherein this is often a final result.)

He needs to get a good realtor, Trump the Best Realtors Inc can easily double the price for the condos, hell they can triple them for him with a stroke of a sharpie! Oh they can't do that for his NY property... there's been a mess up with the paperwork....

Maybe Rudy can find one of those buyers from Saudi Arabia who's willing to pay "any price" for property.

(Or is that only for properties that have a presidential premium?)

True. Actual equity is unknown to us. That said, the properties are likely to be seized after the trial.

Having been found liable for his vicious attacks on two election workers, Guiliani is now facing the penalty phase of the trial.

So this is the perfect time to double-down, so no remorse and repeat his slander.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/11/politics/rudy-giuliani-defamation-trial/index.html

Can this be added to multiply whatever damages are awarded in the current trial, or does it have to happen in a second trial? Or could it be counted as contempt of court? That would be nice because then he could be reduced to poverty and incarcerated, instead of just reduced to poverty twice in a row.

Rudi is playing the long game. As soon as Trump gets in, he will be pardoned.

QTF.

That's the current playbook for everybody in Trump's inner circle, stall, delay, and hope Trump gets back into power.

Which is scary because that's leaves a lot of powerful (idiotic, stupid, but none the less powerful or at least influential depending on how you want to look at it) people with a deep, personal, desperate vested interest in Trump getting back in power.

I wouldn't hold my breath, were I one of those people: they may hope Trump will pardon them, but will he? He doesn't have a history of loyalty to people, after all. If there's no advantage to him in issuing a pardon he won't do it.

What use is Giuliani to Trump now? Or after Trump gets back into office?

Pardoning Giuliani would

A) Piss off the Libs
B) Flex that Trump can do whatever he wants and nobody can stop him.

If Trump has reasons to do anything beyond those two motivations, I can't guess what they are.

I mean no I can't know for sure, I'm eternally grateful I can only vague comprehend how Trump's brain works, and I don't know how Trump feels about Guilani personally at this point, but he's going to pardon a LOT of people if he (or by proxy if another Republican gets into office) is a safe bet.

Isn't it a civil trial? Can't pardon him in a civil case.

Isn't it a civil trial? Can't pardon him in a civil case.

Trump doesn't anything except for stuff he can't do.

Here's what will happen.

Trump will do it
The Democrats will say "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"
The 3 handpicked toadies on the Supreme Court will go "Well we read the Constitution again and wouldn't you know it, turns out he can."

And even if you don't think that is likely, Trump can act by proxy. Somebody, somewhere will be in charge of Giuliani being in jail. Trump will just tell the parole board or Warden or who ever that is to let him out.

Giuliani defames Freeman and Moss again!

These guys just won't stop lying. Yesterday after the first day of trial. Rudy G said in front of cameras again that the two election workers were engaged in vote switching.

Yes it's a civil action and the court has already ruled that Giuliani -- his name is misspelled in the thread title -- spread false information about Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss. The current hearing is to determine the amount of damages Giuliani must pay. When Giuliani left the court yesterday afternoon he told reporters:
“Everything I said about them is true,” Giuliani told reporters. “Of course I don’t regret it,” Giuliani then said when asked if he regretted his actions. “I told the truth. They were engaged in changing votes.” When a reporter responded there was no proof of such an allegation, Giuliani said: “Oh you’re damn right there is. Stay tuned.” CNN news link

In court this morning lawyers for the plaintiffs, Freeman and Moss, complained about Giuliani's comments to the trial judge. The judge agreed the comments contradicted statements Giuliani has made in court. The judge warned, Monday's comments could even be the basis for another damage claim. The judge, Beryl Howell, then asked Giuliani's attorney, Joseph Sibley, how did he reconcile the comments Giuliani made outside of court with what Sibley told the jury Monday? In his opening statement, Sibley had admitted that the workers had been defamed by false statements but urged jurors ""to go easy" on the amount of damages they find, which could run into millions of dollars. How did Giuliani's lawyer 'reconcile' this?
By claiming Giuliani’s age may have been a factor in him telling reporters the opposite of what his attorney was saying in court, telling Judge Howell, “This has taken a bit of a toll on him. He’s almost 80 years old.” CNN news link

Two weeks?

"When a reporter responded there was no proof of such an allegation, Giuliani said: “Oh you’re damn right there is. Stay tuned.”
When a reporter asked, "Why didn't you say that at the trial?" Giuliani looked confused, then answered:

Why? Because I forgot!

Wait, he didn’t really say “I forgot,” did he?

We're going to get SOOOOOO much cowardly concern trolling about being mean to the poor ole' man.

Well, I'm deeply concerned about Giuliani! I'm worried that his senility might spare him from grasping the full extent of how far he's fallen. I want his brain to be in tip-top sparkling order so he can really, truly understand his situation, and comprehend just how much utter contempt people feel for him. I wish for godlike enlightenment to permeate every corner of his decaying brain so he can truly and absolutely know with Platonic Ideal perfect knowledge just what a little **** he is.

Or for him to spontaneously combust from a gas build up in his rotting bowels. Either/or, it'd be a Xmas miracle.

I absolutely hate the idea of schadenfreude. To feel joy from the suffering of others seems to me to be the worst trait of humanity. But I absolutely understand the sentiment when it comes to people like Rudy G. He should rot in prison.

Joy in the deserved suffering of others is a critical ingredient of our social glue. Same as outrage at the undeserved suffering of others.

He is just one of Trump's Russian useful idiots, the Funniest thing I ever heard Rudy say, was poor Jerome Corsi, that Mueller Treated Jerome Corsi badly. Made me Laugh until Gatorade was squirting out my nose.
Jerome Corsi wanted to have Rudy and GWB hung from Lady Liberty's Torch back in 2008, for Blowing Up the World Trade Center with Nano Thermite. Corsi Told me that personally over the phone as well promising me a copy of his Book about the Demolition of the Twin towers.
Infact Rudy and Corsi, and the other useful idiots were trying to create a confrontation between BLM and the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.
The Russians and Chinese as well as other enemies of America were trying to ferment a Civil War between left and Right, that would have allowed Putin to seize Ukraine, and China to invade Taiwan.
Their were even some talking about a drone strike on the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, if they captured the Capitol.
They were talked out of it, because as I told them the Capitol was meaningless let them have it, even if Trump supporters siezed the Capitol they could never hold it as long as the United States Military remained loyal too the Constitution. As long as the Military remained loyal to the Constitution America couldn't fall in an insurrection and it was doomed to fail
That's why you didn't have a Blood bath on January 6th 2021.
Of course your not going to believe me, because the peope here think I am delusional, but you really have no clue, I never expected Trump to ever leave peaceful..8
