Trump indicted for 2020 election interference

Then FoxNews will have hours of footage of the judge being "mean" to President Trump - it's all grist to the mill,

Exactly. Like I said, it's a win-win for Trump. MAGA are excellent at taking just about anything Trump says or does, no matter how despicable or crazy, and turning it to his advantage in their minds.

But they always do that, and nothing is going to stop them thinking like that. So expect it, and just ride over it. Trump needs to be processed according to the legal processes that apply. AFAIK, that means no broadcasting, or even photographs.

Besides, most legal proceedings tend to be long, dry, dull and VERY boring for the most part, with everyone just sitting there like stunned mullets while the legal beaks witter on. For most MAGA who have the legal knowledge and attention span of a gnat, it's not compelling TV. ;)

I'm not arguing to televise or not. I'm just saying what MAGA do regardless.

Gag order reinstated on Cheeto Benito.

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan has reinstated the gag order on former President Donald Trump in his federal election subversion criminal case.

The order bars Trump from publicly targeting court personnel, potential witnesses, or the special counsel’s team.

Chutkan also denied Trump’s request to issue a long-term stay of the order while his appeal played out

Same here, President Trump and the MAGA crowd want the trial televised because they think (know ?) that it can be worked to their benefit from a publicity/propaganda perspective.

The gag order was stayed pending appeal which is schduled for oral agument Nov. 20.

She reinstated it until the appeal:

A federal judge has reinstated a gag order against Donald Trump, lifting a temporary hold she placed on it earlier this month and rejecting his claim that it unconstitutionally limits his free speech.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan paused the gag order on Oct. 20 amid Trump’s complaint that it was confusingly worded and request that she keep it on hold while he asked a federal appeals court to throw it out altogether.

Whatever needs to be done to excise this excrement must done.

EXCLUSIVE: ABC News has obtained video from Georgia prosecutors' interview with ex-Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, in which Ellis tells them she was personally informed by a top Trump adviser that Trump was "not going to leave" the White House — despite losing the 2020 election.

And.

"The boss is not going to leave."

Video excerpts show former Trump lawyers telling Georgia prosecutors about efforts to overturn 2020 election.

Judge Engoron has nothing to do with Trump's request to televise the trial that is relevant to this thread.

Oops. Judge Chutkan. There are so many legal proceedings against Trump going on that I'm going to need a "score card" with a list of who's in which one to keep things straight.

Yes, and then the appeals court stayed it until the 20th or there abouts. (Note that the date on the news item you cited is 2 weeks old.)

There have gag orders, stays, new gag orders, and the new stay issued by the appeals court and it's getting hard to keep track. Here's isaac Schorr writing a new piece making the same mistake:

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan reimposed a gag order prohibiting Trump from publicly targeting prosecutors or potential witnesses in the case at the end of last month. Trump has called the decision to keep it in place as an “unthinkable” abridgement of his “First Amendment Right to Free Speech.”

This would not be the first time that Trump has tested the limits of the order. In a post sent just hours after the gag order was reinstated on October 30, he called his own former Attorney General Bill Barr “Dumb, Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy.

Don't make me count to three! One... Are you listening? One... One and a half... Get down from there! I'm going to count to three! One...

If you asked me 10 years ago if a "Gish Gallop but in legal problems" was a thing that could happen I'm pretty sure I would have guessed wrong.

That filing is for tax purposes. If he tries to use it as collateral for a loan, it'll have made billions.

Seems like a distraction tactic.
I think this is targeted at the public and particularly his base. When Trump's team doesn't get all the documents, he'll rant about how the government had all these exculpatory documents that they wouldn't allow him to use, because the system is being manipulated against him.

The whole world, let alone the case, is already based on the fact that the election was valid (give or take a few MAGAs). HE was the one who may or may not have interfered in its proper running, THAT's what the case is about.

Trump demands thousands of classified documents in his court fight to prove the 2020 election was stolen.

How does he know which documents to ask for that "prove" the election was manipulated against him and "stollen"? Are they the Top Secret documents with the headings like "SEKRIT TRUMP ELECTION STEAL - SHH DON'T TELL HIM!" ??

Because unless he is specific about which documents, it's just a fishing expedition.

That's why he needs ALL Top Secret Documents!

It's all just Graymail.

Bernard Woolley : But, you only need to know things on a need-to-know basis.
Sir Humphrey Appleby : I need to know *everything*. How else can I judge whether or not I need to know it?
Bernard Woolley : So that means you need to know things even when you don't need to know them. You need to know them not because you need to know them but because you need to know whether or not you need to know. If you don't need to know, you still need to know so that you know that there is no need to know.
Sir Humphrey Appleby : Yes!
Bernard Woolley : Good. That's very clear!

In the past, Trump's legal team has claimed that trials need to be delayed because there is "too much evidence" for the lawyers to go through.

I am wondering if they actually did get those additional documents they would then demand even more of a delay. "We said it would take years to go through the evidence, but with these new documents it will take decades".
