Post election unhinging

So we've seen Karl Rove & Donald Trump lose their **** over the election result but I kind of feel like I might be missing some unforgettable moments as I haven't had a chance to tune into the American media much over the last few days. So in the interests of my own personal schadenfreude what other examples of unhinging have people seen over the last few days?

While certainly not in the same league as the big guns mentioned here, there is 18 year old Kristen Neel who tweeted, and I quote:

"I'm moving to Australia, because their president is a Christian and actually supports what he says."

A couple of issues here.

1. We don't have a president.
2. Our Prime Minister is Female.
3. She is an atheist.

Apart from these things, she was close to the facts. For example, Australia exists.

Well, Australia does have a Christian sovereign; perhaps that'll be close enough.

Even she is a she. A matriarch of a family that has condoned adultery among other non-Christian activities that she professes not to believe in. So two 1/2 ain't bad I guess...

I've heard SNL's Victoria Jackson had a Twitter meltdown about the death of America and being ashamed of America's Christians for letting this happen. I still can't decide if she's a Poe or not.

Because this thread is called "Post election unhinging" and there seems to be quite a bit of it being retweeted in the link I posted. I'm not sure how retweeting other people's tweets makes it a troll account.

I'll have to track it down again, but someone had posted a number of twitter posts regarding excitement with BO being re-elected because "now everyone will have free heath care!"

When he declares martial law that is the second thing he is going do. The first of course is to make Islam the official religion of the USA.

Now we will have a bunch of atheists who have to convert from not believing in God to not believing in Allah. A lot of work ahead.

I found this article disturbing: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/poli...icle-1.1199402

Not surprising, but disturbing. Goes along with Jon Stewart's quip about Romney winning "most of the confederacy" I suppose.

I've seen a lot of it on my Facebook. Grasping at straws and whatnot.

My one co-worker had to delete her account. She said some pretty angry things and basically said the US is now terrible, and that she wouldn't want her (non-existent by the way) children to serve it. Many of her friends who are in the armed forces and their families took EXTREME offense to this.

These people don't seem to realize that...

1) Obama's been president for almost 4 years.
2) The sky didn't fall, the world didn't end, and none of the doomsayers' predictions following the '08 election came true.
3) Obama won the popular vote by a few million and will handily win in the electoral college. The majority has spoken, isn't that how it's supposed to work?

All this crying and hand wringing reminds me of the nonsense from some liberal Democrats following Bush's reelection in '04. You don't have to like it, but that's how our system works. The world didn't end after that, just as it won't end now (well unless this Mayan crap comes true ). If they must leave our great nation, I hope they don't let the door hit them in the posterior.

The large group photo from 1:07pm, just above the word "News" in the title bar at the bottom, looks like a black guy in a blue shirt...checking his phone, or something.

You know, I used to hate that virtually every presidential election someone (usually a journalist) would remark on the amazing peaceful transition that is made because of our democracy as if it were still something unique in the world (and all other countries undergo violent revolution with every change of leadership).

But compared to this doomsday stuff (including reports of the demise of the GOP), I guess it's preferable.

Coal company announces layoffs in response to Obama win

Quote:
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- A coal company headed by a prominent Mitt Romney donor has laid off more than 160 workers in response to President Obama's election victory.

Murray Energy said Friday that it had been "forced" to make the layoffs in response to the bleak prospects for the coal industry during Obama's second term. In a prayer circulated by the company, CEO Robert Murray said Americans had voted "in favor of redistribution, national weakness and reduced standard of living and lower and lower levels of personal freedom."
It would be interesting to know how many of the equivalents of those worker's salaries were donated to the Romney campaign.

Got this today:

So much stupid, so much wrong, and so many people still believe it.
My response to the sender was:

Is this the story now? These guys are still mad because Obama didn't try to take all their guns.

Not surprising, but disturbing. Goes along with Jon Stewart's quip about Romney winning "most of the confederacy" I suppose.

Did they include the #****WhitePeople (Link obviously NSFW) trend on Twitter? It seems that their parameters for "hate speech" are too narrow.

ETA: Link removed, it was auto-censored and directed to something else.

Did you actually read those tweets? Or were you just so worked up by your "Oh yeah? Well, non-whites are the real racists!" tu quoque-fail to bother?
