Is Christianity a net positive for humanity, or a net negative?

Christian conservative, Dinesh D'Souza will debate philosophy professor, Andrew Bernstein at UT Austin this Friday, February 8th, 7:00 to 9:00 pm (Central Time.) This debate will have a live audience and will be LiveStreamed on the internet.

Information and tickets are here:

If you want to watch this debate on LiveStream, look for the LiveStream ticket link on the event page.

So what do you think? Has Christianity been beneficial to mankind, detrimental or neither?

I think that Christianity has been detrimental by encouraging blind faith and sacrifice.

A similar debate I have seen is Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry in the debate, "Is the Catholic Church a force of good in the world" (obviously, they were arguing for the negative). If you can find it on youtube, I recommend watching Stephen's speech because it is quite good (search for Intelligence Squared).
Personally I would say it's been detrimental overall.

Thanks, I'll look for it. But this upcoming debate will be rather different, since Andrew Bernstein has a different philosophy than most other atheists.
