Well that's been his experience of how the world works for most, if not all, of his life. Until and unless there are negative consequences for him as a result, he'll continue to think and act this way - he may continue to do so even if there are negative consequences at some point in the future.

Does Trump get that even when the project was started that those presidents were not alive and had been dead for 8 (Theodore Roosevelt) to 128 years? (George Washington). And even Roosevelt hadn't been in office for almost two decades.
