I read an article about how the COVID virus had raised the death rate
dramatically to 3.4 million. In fact, it had surged above the daily death rate of heart disease and cancer, reaching, if I remember correctly, 3400 a couple of times. Daily COVID deaths in compared with world wide death rates would come in at number nine. (I wonder where they get their numbers.) Leading Causes of Death Annually In United States 01 1774 Heart Disease 02 1641 Cancer 03 466 Accidents 04 439 Chronic Lung Disease 05 401 Stroke 06 333 Alzheimer’s 07 229 Diabetes 08 153 Influenza And Pneumonia 09 119 Kidney Disease 10 129 Suicide Leading Causes of Death Annually In The World 01 46200 Cardiovascular 02 20500 Cancer 03 10900 Respiratory 04 8600 Perinatal 05 5850 Diarrheal 06 5525 Digestive 07 5515 AIDs 08 3960 Tuberculosis 09 3445 Traffic Accidents 10 3410 Psychiatric |

I got the information from a link in the forum a while back. Average Daily Causes Of Death In USA by Barry Ritholtz Live World Death totals
Quote:
No one can do that because the mechanism does not exist at present. I doubt that for most of these you cannot even find monthly statistics. P. S. It's possible they got them from the CDC and WHO, but I just don't remember. |

Since when does a Trumpette care about facts?
The Trumpettes are desperate to avoid people noticing that the Tantrump is presiding over a 9-11 level death toll daily, and more deaths than the Great Warm Korean and the US meddling in Vietnam in total. By the time Trump is turfed out in January the US death toll will probably have exceeded World War 2. |

Trump Tweets
The lockdowns in Democrat run states are absolutely ruining the lives of so many people - Far more than the damage that would be caused by the China Virus. Cases in California have risen despite the lockdown, yet Florida & others are open & doing well. Common sense please! |

So he thinks if CA opens up the virus will stop filling up the hospitals?
![]() I think this is (among many things) a rationalization as to why his holding up the relief bill won't the cause of people's financial bad times. Makes me wonder just how FL is doing. Lindsay Graham is apparently at Mar-a-Lago having a great time kissing Trump's ass. I really wonder what his motives are. Maybe he's one of those people that drank the Koolaid. |

If he was engaging in any sort of rational thought, he might be thinking "California locked down and they had a lot of Corona deaths anyways, so might as well open it up."
Quote:
Covid Deaths per 100,000 people (as of Dec22): Florida: 96 (putting them in the top 20 states) California: 58 (putting them in the bottom 20 states) California may have more total deaths, but they also have a lot more population. Now, it is true that California seems to be having a spike of cases, whereas Florida is flat (or growing slowly). But in the month of December, Florida never had less than 74 total deaths. California's death rate seems to fluctuate much more wildly, but there were days in when they had as few as 61 deaths (despite having roughly twice the population). Also from: Politico In Los Angeles, officials have said all along that people were gathering too often. They blamed celebrations and postseason viewing parties when the Dodgers and Lakers won championships this fall....Others have said congregant settings remain a severe concern in a housing-constrained state, especially in low-income communities...The state hasn't employed strict enforcement...But it has no real hammer against people gathering or engaging in everyday social activities, and many local law enforcement agencies have made a point of declaring they will not become the stay-at-home police. So California is technically under lockdown, but it is a lockdown that is not fully enforced. |

As usual, idiot trump picked a VERY bad time to attack California officials. From today's Times of San Diego detailing why California's new cases may be spiking. It's scary news:

I wish one of these cowards would suggest something like that with 9/11 victims. See how that works out for them. How is history going to describe these anti-mask/vaxers, these covid deniers, these death-diminishers? **** them, I hope, but a third of American might fall into this category.

California's population is 4% greater than all of Canada.
As of December 23, the 7 day average of new infections in Canada was 6,675, while in California it was an astonishing 44,782—571% greater than Canada. (Canada did not release numbers for December 24, 25, or 26.) As of the same date, the seven day average of daily new deaths in Canada was 114, while California's was 215; 120% greater than Canada's. Assuming that deaths lag infections by a month (two weeks to incubate, then two weeks of illness before recovery or death,) I checked the seven day average of daily new infections ("7DA/DNI") for both locales on November 23. In Canada it was 5,052, for an estimated case fatality rate of 2.26%. California's number was 12,722, which makes an estimated CFR of 1.97%. For California, the good news is the CFR is slightly better. The bad news is January's going to be bad. Very bad. And these numbers are for a virus that supposedly flourishes in the cold and dislikes warmer temperatures. Just what is California doing wrong? Looking at the Worldometer graphs, they had their act together until the start of November, when case counts started to climb. The American Thanksgiving seems to be part of it, because the case count slope steepened starting December 1. But even then it was worse than Canada's. On December 1, The 7DA/DNI was 5,861 in CA, 14,974 in CA. (Err, 5,861 in Canada, 14,974 in California. Abbreviations can be ambiguous.) |

Republicans think mask mandates and lockdowns make America look weak. It's my opinion that over 3K deaths a day and over 160K infections a day is proof that Republican governance is weak.

Former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker isn't going to look weak! He boldly went out for pizza, in support of a local restaurant. And posted a picture.
Funny how that pizza is identical to the one he posted about in 2019. But hey, he's a Republican, he wouldn't lie to us! |

"The Covid is a Globalist Plot to Destroy the US Economy and Trun the US Communist" seems to be the response of the Trumpers to any news about the virus.
