They came from all over the country to support is effort to stay in office and he went to the golf course. I'm not crazy about "not human" language.

It gives the recipients ammo to call their critics "The real Nazis" and it sort of lets them off the hook.

I don't get mad at my cat if it barfs on the rug. I don't expect my cat to understand that's a bad thing.

These actions are a choice, and they're not, for all of them, an unbreakable nature. Members of the KKK can deconvert, Proud boys can get a clue. My cat will never understand the value of furniture.

They're dumb people making bad choices. I hope some of them will start to make better choices. And statistically, some of them will.

I agree. Some of them are beyond help but not because they're "not human" but because they're just too far down the rabbit hole and, frankly, some of them are just plain stupid. I think some of them may, in time, come to see that they were conned, just as some get out of other cults. And they'll feel a bit foolish and embarrassed that they were so blind. I can see a support group for ex-Trump supporters just like a support group for ex-Mormons an ex-Mormon friend of mine took me to once .

The roughly thousand protestors were briefly mentioned in the paper's 2020 election live feed. The Trump supporters hadn't seen it. I guess they expected their hundreds of thousands of people would make the top of the page or something.
