We've definitely dodged one with already having sorted a holiday in Scottishland starting on Chucky's coronating day, as it appears that our neighbours are wanting to have a party on the joint garden area out front.

Carrot Flower queen managed to do better than I would have done in feigning disappointment that we will be sitting in a car heading for Jacobite territory.

I see you were part of the bourgoisie.

Thick cut corned beef ? (ours was sliced thinly enough to see through)
Tomato ? (in t'Up North anything other than root vegetables and manky apples was a fleeting summer treat)
Name brand bread ?

We tried Smash once. It's actually rather good as a dry nibble.

The corned beef and cabbages display at Safeway is right next to the one with the gefilte fish and matzohs. But neither approaches the volume of the Easter candy.

Back somewhat on topic, I find myself wondering how many US cable and broadcast networks will be showing the coronation. I'd bet on at least six.

Had a thought: Maybe if they simply dunked Charlie in a big pool a la Baptist baptisms. What would be the odds he would be drowned? So... One church service with three outcomes? Charlie crowned, Charlie drowned, William crowned. Fun day out?

Your whole royalty thing is both fascinating and horrifying to many of us. It's the train wreck we can't look away from. Not that we think our politics is any great prize but damn, people, we can vote out our wankers.

Every now and then the Vesta nasi goreng advert circulates in Malaysia, with absolute horror from all who see it.

Anyway, speaking of meals, my coronation vegetarian chicken is delicious. Is Charles going to have a coronation dish which we can enjoy throughout his reign?

Given the state of the UK's food supply chain at the moment, Coronation Turnip.

That will just create a run on turnips and soaring turnip prices. Hmmm, I've started to plant garden veg but the turnips won't be ready in time.

Today's Private Eye reported that the largest grower of turnips (providing 80% of UK grown turnips) in the country didn't plant any this year as they're severely uneconomical.

Guess whose constituency they reside in?

So when is the King Charles bobblehead coming out? I want to get a headstart on my shrine.

Also looking for a bust of Queen Consort Camille, preferably rendered in ice cream, with an intricate matching refrigeration module to keep her fresh. Can't find one on Amazon, if you can believe it.

I heard that Camilla is cold to the touch and drops the temperature of any room she enters. Scientists want to work on a plan to fatten her up in the hopes she can become a global heat sink and counteract global warming, but that plan is unfeasible because Camilla only eats lark tongues and there aren't enough.

Canned Corned Beef in the US is pretty much the same.
Was nicknamed "Canned Willy" by US Doughboys in World War one, where it was a standard field ration.
It was the infamous Bully Beef used by the British Army in both world wars, US dropped it after World War one and replace it with..drum roll...Spam.

God, it is just like the "Chicken A La King" that was a standard MRE main dish when I was in the US Army.

Wow.

I had believed that she lived on Golden Eyed tree frog tongues garnished with lark vomit, shows that I'm not keeping up. (A taste originally popularised by 'whizzo assortment' chocolates).

Yes, "Coronation Turnip".

It's just a raw turnip
It's homeopathic raw turnip
Since it's Charles...

I kind of want to go and put flowers on one of Cromwell's burial sites on Coronation Day.

This is going to be so exciting to watch. Will Charles successfully pilot the Quadcopter Crown onto his own head without injury, thus keeping the Dark Lord sealed within the vaults of Westminster Abbey for another 957 years? If he succeeds and the world isn't plunged into darkness and despair, I'll be sure to download the Coronation App so I can throw virtual celebratory eggs (ancient symbols of hope and prosperity) at the Royal Procession.

I'm going to win twenty dollars if the late queen rises from the grave to fight Charles for the crown. And another twenty if she KOs him with a single punch, which I think likely because Charles strikes me as being delicate.

Nothing wrong with a good bit of turnip. Mash it up with a knob of real butter and some ground pepper and it's lovely.
