Hope springs eternal in the human breast; Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home, Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

You have true Foresight of things to come. A Jaguar within human skin.

To see the light you must first open your eyes.

This will not end well.

SpiritEcho,

Once more, for the record.... Are you aware that this is a site that has the word "Paranormal" in its masthead, but that that it also includes, "Critical Thinking" and "Science" and "Skepticism". Many "true believers" don't seem to catch that and wander in here thinking that this is another friendly harbour where a bunch of deluded folks post messages about aligning their chi or whatever the hell it is you lot are into this week.

In short. We think you're swell, personally. But anyone actually claiming to be a psychic is either deluded or a charlatan/fraud.

You're welcome here as much as any of us, but be prepared to actually show us something that can prove that you are what you claim. I somehow doubt you can, and I'm predicting your stay will be a short one.

Nice to meet you and Thank you for the advice which I have taken on board!

I hope that I can prove what I do to many of you. I am skeptical of myself and what I do. Oh and I have never trained to be a psychic medium. It's just always been with me.

Well, welcome aboard. This thread is generally our "warm/friendly" side, but if you would actually like to prove or discuss psychic abilities I'd suggest either the Million Dollar Challenge sub-forum - if you really think you have such abilities and are up to taking the challenge to prove them scientifically, or alternately, start a thread in the General Skepticism and Paranormal sub-forum. There are no restrictions on starting threads for Newbies - just some administrative things like not posting links or getting an avatar or signature until you hit 15 or 50 posts respectively.

I did warn you, though. Expect a rough reception from some of us. There are a number of even-tempered individuals around here, but the house is built around skepticism and critical thinking and there's a greater number of aggressive anti-psychics than there are calm and patient listeners. Not many of us believe in psychics in the least, and a couple have actually made debunking them into demi-careers.

Hi all, Brit living in Canada. I have a psychic power an all: The preternatural ability to sniff out ********!

The swear filter has masked what I was saying - suffice to say it comes from the bad part of a bovine male's town.

Hello everyone, I'm new here. To make a long story short, I'm something of a "new" skeptic; I've never held a strong belief in the paranormal, but I was raised by an otherwise intelligent mother who is an adamant believer in psychics, astrology etc. which has caused me some cognitive dissonance on the issue (Childhood memories of watching "Crossing Over", oy)

So, I guess my registration here represents something of a turning point in my life. I had something of a "skeptical epiphany" recently when I saw a youtube video of James Randi simply stating "I want to be as sure of the world around me as is possible". I realized that skepticism isn't about an antagonistic rejection of new or foreign ideas, but rather a mindset centered around critical thinking and a genuine willingness to evaluate the validity of extraordinary claims, whether they fall into the category of creationism, cryptozoology, the paranormal, or any other claims of similar magnitude.

Outside of skepticism, I'm a college freshman, amateur standup comedian, and film/music enthusiast. Look forward to getting to know you all!

You're in luck. Just lately there seems to have been a fairly steady influx of people making deliveries of the same product.

Happy sniffing!

I got lucky there, it seems. My Mum only started to believe in all that sort of nonsense after I was well and truly out of her clutches.

That's why I went with cynicism. I'm a lazy old fart and it's much easier.

I'm changing my paranormal power - I will take the Randi Challenge to demonstrate that I can produce socks from a clean load of laundry and successfully predict that the first sock I pull out will not match any of the subsequent ones. SHAZAM!

Arts right, heck I can put white socks in a wash and when the wash is done you will find not find any white socks as I can change them to colored socks.

Hello everyone! Turner from Canada here. Was introduced to this site by a friend years ago and come here from time to time to smarten myself up when i feel i am being drawn into a conspiracy of sorts (org. started reading over JFK discussions with previous friend - and used this site as a reference when 9/11 conspiracies went mainstream so i could get a critical view of the issues being presented) Now im being drawn back here again by these "strange sounds" being heard around the world. i didnt pay much attention to it untill it actually made an appearance on the news. which was mostly just coverage of the many youtube videos globally and wanted to get the skeptics view on it and maybe some explanations

But this is whats caused me to finally sign up and join and make a post, Some of you are not very nice to other posters. and well i know its an internet forum and you all have to deal with some ridiculous trolls and stupid questions day after day and year after year. I have seen some rather awful responses to some legit questions from very smart people to some not so smart people simply because (imho) the person posing the question has a lesser IQ. You should try to be a little kinder to us less fortunate in the brains dept. Also there is an exception to every rule, as in watching Jargon Buster vs Rob Menard in the FMOTL forums LOL great reads

Granted there are many many of you with degrees and life experiences who share your knowledge freely and in a kind gentle way and i personally say TY for that

In closing i would just like to say i do enjoy the site but i do not intend to post much mainly because i do not have much to offer that 10 people havent already posted 10 times before me. i also dont want to be "that guy" who thinks hes figured something out and 15 minutes later im directed to a link pointing out im just as stupid as the last guy who thought he figured the same thing out 6 months ago lol

Keep up the good work!
