And it's entirely the fault of Elijah Cummings, of course.

In case you've gotten caught by the WaPo's paywall, here's an updated BBC article about the Germany shootings.

A local media site says a video has been found that the alleged shooter posted to the internet recently. The site's (machine-translated from German) description:

Quote:
In the video, the man speaks in fluent English of a "personal message to all Americans." The clip was apparently taken in a private apartment, which was posted online a few days ago. In it, the man says there are underground military facilities in the Us where children are abused and killed. There, too, the devil would be worshipped. American citizens should wake up and "fight now" against these conditions. The video does not contain any reference to an imminent act of violence in Germany.
If this is true, the man appears to be a Qnut.

They wouldn't even let you clean out your desk? That's crazy. You should've come back with a gun.

Is that even legal? Sounds like they basically stole whatever personal property you had in your desk. I used to keep money in my desk, in case I needed to contribute to somebody’s retirement gift or something like that.

They put it in a box and gave me the box.

There are things you are tempted to say, but know it's a bad idea. Like I was thinking about saying, " Don't worry about me. I have plenty of things to do. It's been a long time since I cleaned my gun collection."

However, no good could come of it, so I just wished them good luck.

It is horrible that in the USA it seems fairly reasonable that they would. take what few measures they can, because, as this most recent episode shows again, someone really might go on a murder spree if they feel wronged.

Even if the US isn't prepared to implement gun control then perhaps improving workers' rights might reduce the number of "going postal" incidents.

I would have thought in America, to mitigate the risk of an anrgy ex-worker, it would be best when firing someone to literally fire at them. Dead men don't wear grudges

Nowadays these events have been sufficiently common that almost any job could be considered. Now we have "Going Coors...."

From a Wikipedia article quoting the St Petersburg Times. It seems that there were a lot of fatal shootings.

Quote:
The symposium was sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service, which has seen so many outbursts that in some circles excessive stress is known as 'going postal.' Thirty-five people have been killed in 11 post office shootings since 1983. The USPS does not approve of the term "going postal" and has made attempts to stop people from using the saying. Some postal workers, however, feel it has earned its place

In my youth I had less restraint. For about 15 minutes, I actually posted a sign on my cubicle wall that said, "How would a postal worker handle this situation?"

Eta:. Oh, and one more thing, some real people really died yesterday in a mass shooting. I pretty much hate that this is an unremarkable event. I think we should take away some guns from some people.

Last night a man drove through Springfield, Missouri shooting randomly at pedestrians, luckily not striking any of them; but eventually he crashed into a gas station, after which he strode inside with his gun and killed four people, including a responding police officer, and injured two more before finally killing himself.

Seven family members fatally shot in North Carolina

The gunman is among the dead.

Quote:
Those familiar with the area describe it as "a quiet, close-knit community where violence is out of the norm," the sheriff's office said.

Did they pry his gun from his cold, dead hands?

March 2020 was the first March without a school shooting in the U.S. since 2002

Quote:
March 2020 was apparently the first March in nearly two decades without a school shooting in the U.S. Schools across America have been shut down since early March as a prevention measure to slow the spread of coronavirus. Since then, kids of all ages have adjusted to homeschooling and online classes — a new normal that could extend through the rest of the school year.

For most of those students, this is one of the longest stretches in their lifetimes without a school shooting. As first reported on Twitter by Washington Post reporter Robert Klemko, there hasn't been a March without a school shooting since 2002 — the year most current high school seniors were born.

Data from the National School Safety Center and National School Safety and Security Services confirm that there have been school shootings every March since 2002. That year, a 13-year-old student brought a gun and a hit list to school but was subdued by a school resource officer deputy before he could pull the trigger.
