I have to admit wondering, though, if Jean Carroll having been in an interracial marriage may have angered trump -- her husband, John Johnson, was a well-known New York TV news broadcaster (though I believe they'd divorced by the time trump attacked her) -- and was the motivation for trump deciding to sexually attack her when they had a chance encounter.
Carroll and Johnson were divorced in 1990.

The Daily Beast reported last week:
Quote:
Judge Lewis Kaplan reportedly denied Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina’s request last month to question Carroll about an argument she described in a book during which she called her ex-husband John Johnson “an ape” on the grounds that the “the unfair prejudicial effect” of the comment “outrageously outweighs any probative value.” Daily Beast news link
A wife calling her husband an ape during a fight -- then relating it in an autobiography -- seems completely irrelevant to an allegation that trump sexually attacked Jean Carroll. I think Judge Kaplan was right, Tacopina's strategy was outrageously prejudicial. Which I guess was the whole idea.

I'm dubious. But I was dubious in 2016 too.

Regardless, this evidence is weaker than weak tea. It was a Trump audience by design.

Kind of my thinking as well, what was CNN going to do about it during their LIVE broadcast anyway, bleep it out?

I suspect probably just call a commercial break and get security to remove the non-compliant.

It certainly gave a wrong impression that everyone there was a Trump supporter when all we heard at home was the clapping and no dissenting boos. Trump needed to hear the booing, too, not just the clapping.

Actually, the kind of decorum formerly imposed in such settings would have been the correct and neutral policy.

Permitting the cheers but forbidding the jeers is grossly improper and unbalanced for a purported news outlet. CNN deserves every helping of opprobrium heaped upon it.

They can do delay loops on live broadcasts so they can catch and cut out the hecklers undetected to everyone else. Rush Limbaugh had a 15 second delay in his radio show. He exercised it well for a while to keep his show on subject and the hecklers frustrated.
Art Bell also made excellent use of it. He needed it bad too for the laughable topics he aired. Hecklers lined up to crank old Art.

If Trump heard booing he would tell himself that the talking head who introduced him was so bad that people were still booing him after Trump started.

He really thinks he is so smart, so clever, so handsome, so incisive, so witty, so admirable, so …yadda yadda that the only people who could dislike him are mentally unstable or are somehow making money off of showing disapproval.

Quote:
Last month, Mr. Parlatore wrote a letter to Congress asking lawmakers for help in taking the documents investigation away from prosecutors and giving it to the intelligence community — a move that, among other things, would have removed the threat of a criminal indictment against Mr. Trump.

The letter also seemed to preview some of Mr. Trump’s potential defenses in the documents case, noting that during his chaotic departure from the White House, aides “quickly packed everything into boxes and shipped them to Florida.” This hasty process, Mr. Parlatore argued, suggested that “White House institutional processes,” not “intentional decisions by President Trump,” were responsible for sensitive material being hauled away.

Last week, Mr. Trump appeared to undercut those assertions on live television, declaring at a CNN town hall event that he knowingly removed government records from the White House and claiming that he was allowed to take anything he wanted with him as his personal property.

“I took the documents,” he said at the event. “I’m allowed to.”

I bet none of that had anything to do with his decision to bail out withdraw.

The Georgia prosecutor leading an investigation into former President Donald J. Trump and his allies has taken the unusual step of announcing remote work days for most of her staff during the first three weeks of August, asking judges in a downtown Atlanta courthouse not to schedule trials for part of that time as she prepares to bring charges in the inquiry.

The moves suggest that Fani T. Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, is expecting a grand jury to unseal indictments during that time period. Ms. Willis outlined the remote work plan and made the request to judges in a letter sent on Thursday to 21 Fulton County officials, including the chief county judge, Ural Glanville, and the sheriff, Pat Labat.

Seems Fanni may be expecting some trouble those two weeks in August.

A Trump indictment would be a very nice anniversary present for me.

So I guess there is a bit of a race...

Who will issue indictments first, The DOJ over Documents/Jan6, or Fani Willis in Georgia.

But there is also another race... will Willis be able to actually indict Trump (if he actually is one of the people charged) and have him up for trial before the state government takes actions to block her from prosecuting Trump.

From: AP News
Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill into law Friday creating a new commission empowered to discipline and remove wayward prosecutors, saying it will curb “far-left prosecutors” who are “making our communities less safe.”... Some have viewed the law as Republican retribution against Willis, who is considering criminal charges against former President Donald Trump over interference in Georgia’s 2020 election.

Another lawyer dumps Trump.
Quote:
Tim Parlatore, one of the lawyers defending Donald Trump against special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the handling of documents marked as classified, has resigned from the former president’s legal team.

“It’s personal and it’s got nothing to do with my belief in the strength of the case,” Parlatore told POLITICO Wednesday morning.
Sure. Sure, it doesn't, Tim.

Unfair advantage to the right-wing prosecutors! They learned to shoot while still in utero!

Ex-Trump lawyer reveals in-fighting among former president’s legal team

An attorney working Donald Trump’s legal team has quit, citing in-fighting among the former president’s inner circle.

Timothy Parlatore left his role this week, according to The New York Times, after working for Mr Trump for at least a year.

In an interview with CNN on Saturday, Mr Parlatore explained that the reason for his departure was ongoing friction with Boris Epshteyn, another legal adviser to Mr Trump.

Mr Epshteyn, according to Mr Parlatore, has been stonewalling the legal team in their attempts to ascertain whether all presidential records that Mr Trump took with him when he left the White House had been turned over to the National Archives.
Quote:
“The real reason is because there are certain individuals that made defending the president much harder than it needed to be. In particular, there is one individual who works for him, Boris Epshteyn, who had really done everything he could to try to block us, to prevent us from doing what we could to defend the president,” said Mr Parlatore.

“In my opinion, he was not very honest with us or with the client on certain things,” he added.
It also didn't help that The Fat Orange Cheeto bragged at the infamous Town Hall Meeting that he took the documents and claimed that they belonged to him, evaporating his primary defense. Would you want to work for a client that can't keep his ******* fat stupid mouth shut?

Boris Epshtyne seems to be just the kind of person Trump would want to employ.

Wow, just Googled Boris Epshteyn. He is a distillation of just about all the nasty characters and dubious contacts that we have long associated with Trump behind the scenes - dodgy offshore banking, Russian contacts, failed businesses, direction and coordination of 6-Jan... Real piece of work.
